Space and more than one room
Could not get mainnshower to work ...depress button did not activate? toilet too close to the wall
The location is superb. In the center of the village, and close to the train station. large place and good WIFI
Very hard to find in check in. small bathroom, no water preasure in the shower... very annoying. no real stuff... it's just a room to rent.
Very good spot in town with quick access to food and shopping and transport
Innitially unbelievably difficult to find. Communication was near non existent.
Eventually the guide arranged for our luggage to be picked up as it would have been impossible for us to drag our bags up to the carpark.
Too many steps for older people and difficulties in Arrival. Otherwise very helpful.
love the bathroom, kitchen is well equipped, close to main road, train station and marina. no need for a/c in summer
the address is given as the check in point for all the guests. lots of the guests come to you first and despite the warning on the door, be sure they knock the door and wanna take info from you
Great location, though very noisy. The owner was very nice, helpful. Huge apartment, clean and with good facilities.
Location was excellent. Handy to rail station, restaurant and shops. Very quiet and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were very impressive
Maybe some basic supplies (tea, coffee, sugar etc.) could be provided to make settling in a bit easier on arrival.
Not too many stairs to reach the place but some are quite steep. Not far from town centre. Our host was accommodating on arrival
Very basic facilities. Bed wasn't comfortable
The apartment looked really good and we had our own balcony looking down on the busy street of Riomaggiore! It was clean and the beds slept great. I would recommend to stay here to anyone!
It was kind of weird to have a red lamp in the kitching as you can't really see the color of the food, but we didn't really use the kitchen for cooking food anyway. So it was all good for us.
Poor instructions as to location of "hotel" - ie what hotel???? Noisy location. Staff started stripping our beds before we'd even checked out properly. Dodgy lock on the downstairs front door. Wouldn't have liked to have tried to get out fast in an emergency!
Great central position. Comfortable with everything needed for a short break.
Although it has a small balcony, there is no view....
The kitchenette, big bathroom, refrigerator, comfortable bed
No tv/radio, very difficult to find the place, no shampoo
We loved the village of Riomaggiore! Very quaint, romantic & beautiful, not to mention, excellent restaurants (La Lanterna, La Lampara & A Pie' de Ma'). The apt. has 2 levels with a spiral staircase & a balcony, very spacious. It was off the beaten path, so we felt like true locals. Would definitely recommend it!
Small, tight parking spaces. Uneven, cobblestone steps were a challenge to walk in, in shoes other than sneakers.
The location was great, the aparment was clean and even though it was small it was enough for a couple on a few days visit. It's good that there are cooking possibilities and the woman who gave us the key was very friendly and helpful despite the language barriers!
Terrace looking down on the main street so we could always see what was going on and if the noise was a bit much there was double glazing and air con. Loved being able to hang our washing outside the window like the locals.
This town is full of steps, 60 from our front door to the main street.
close to railway station and in centre of riomaggiore
door sticking into ensuite so couldn't open properlyand handle in shower broken. Tea/coffee making facilities but could have provided tea/coffee etc at very little cost
Location. The view from our alley was cute, typical and the sounds were authentic.
The washroom in the apartment that my boyfriend and I rented was very spacious and had a "cave-like" shower that was such a nice change from all of the other tiny showers we experienced throughout Europe. The apartment was very tidy and we were allowed to use all utensils and appliances. Antonella gave us a great overview of the place. Great location! Just around the corner from the main entrance to the town but quiet enough to have a peaceful sleep at night. Would definitely recommend this to others.
It was difficult to get in touch with the staff since there is almost no wifi in town but I managed with a pay phone.
Very convenient location to train station and in town. Nice big apartment with good facilities.
We stayed in the "Superior One-Bedroom Apartment" at Via Della Valletta 29 in Riomaggiore. It has neat little features. It's two units, one on top of the other, connected by a spiral staircase, with an entrance up top and down below. The Riomaggiore housing is all built into the rock, which provides for some neat features inside the unit as well as outside. Even though the temperature outside is 27-30 degrees Celsius, it's nice and cool inside. There is a TV downstairs and upstairs in the unit, with a kitchen and lounge area upstairs (with a small balcony) and the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Nice lounge chaise in the upstairs area, and a kitchen + pots/pans/dishes/cutlery/mugs.
If you've ever been in an unfinished basement where the lime is seeping through the damp concrete/stone wall (efflorescence), that's what this entire unit smells like. The owner of the unit (also owns Arbaspaa tours) said that all their units suffer from a humidity problem. This isn't surprising, due to the units being built into the rock, however, there are correct and incorrect ways to deal with humidity. This unit did not take care of it correctly, which led to many issues. There is an open brick arch in the bedroom that is covered in thick mold along the wall, and the wall is showing mold coming through as well. The bathroom ceiling has mold everywhere, and the kitchen cupboards upstairs have the same problem. You can't escape the smell. To try to combat the smell, they have three air fresheners in the bedroom area to try to mask it, with additional air fresheners in the bathroom and kitchen area. They don't eliminate the smell; just add to it. There is WiFi there, but the connection drops every 5 minutes; not from a weak signal, but rather there's something wrong with the router itself. Even though there are two TVs, the downstairs TV is one of those old tube TVs you'd find in a motorhome. We spent a lot of time outside so this wasn't an issue for us but could be an issue for others. We also had problems with the remote with that TV. There is AC and heating on both floors, although it runs quite loud when you turn it on. The cool temperature in the unit is somewhat of a good thing, but unfortunately, it's VERY cool; so much so that the floor is icy to the touch. The furniture consists of the cheapest items you could buy at IKEA (literally -- they still have the IKEA manuals here) but they are functional. Mattress is firm but fine.
I was able to reserve everything online and the staff met me just as detailed in the email. The unit was a great reprieve from the standard European style accomodations. It was roomy and the bathroom was absolutely amazing! It was easy to get to and from the train which takings you between all the 5 villages. It really doesn't matter what village you stay in, because they are all just a few mins apart by the train that run continuously. Riomaggiore was very nice and there were small shops and cafes and bars all right there. We went to all 5 villages with ease from this location and got good rest and a good shower at Casa del Borgo. Would stay there again.
It had a musty smell but it is built into the side of a mountain so that is to be expected I suppose. Most of the buildings we went to there had a similar small by virtue or the terrain and how everything is built into the cliffs. Also it does not have ac - which we didn't mind, because it wasn't too hot with ocean breeze.
Met by a staff member who took us to our apartment and helped with our luggage up the many stairs. Huge bathroom.Good kitchen facilities
It was central so we didn't have to lug luggage at all and the view was good.
The pictures on the booking did not match the unit we were in. Washing machine ate our clothes. It was above very nosey restaurants and bars.
Bought all our groceries in La Spezia. Location - hardly any steps to climb, and close to the train station and main street. But very quiet.Heating excellent. Bed excellent. Clean apartment.
Bathroom ? If you are 1 meter tall you won't hit your head as you try to sit on the toilet... it is under a set of stairs. Not much help from the girl who took us to our apartment.
Off the main drag so quieter
Found the steep internal spiral staircase a bit of a hassle at times
