Sleeping under frescos, among statues is just so unique and also surreal. Never ever had that experience before. The kids were amazed as well. Really smart bathroom establishment, with a glass ceiling, room in the room, so the frescos are protected and you can still enjoy the view from the bathtub :-) Biking around Mantua is the best way to discover all the beauties!
Beautifull Pallazo Museo. The owners were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The suite with spa was perfect. We had a wonderful stay.
We bad just one Night.
We bad a room, about 7 Meter high and 10 x10 Meter Larve. The Rolf was Full of old Freskos. Inside this big room was the bathroom separates " Installateur and there was a Glas-Rolf, so that you Couleur sit in the Whirlpool and You could see the Freskos at the Main roof of the Rom. Just fantastisch !
A great place to experience the history of Mantova. Where else can you spend the night in the museum? Fine breakfast in the morning too...
Great staying in the Casa Museo Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga. The place is amazing and the staff very nice. A visit is offered every morning to visit the palazzo, it is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend it.
This palazzo, with a fascinating history and remarkable ceilings, statues and frescoes, provides a unique "night in the museum" experience. It is the only museum in Italy offering sleeping accommodations, and the owner and his family provide a lovely breakfast and a fascinating museum tour. Francesca, the daughter who led our tour, is equally adept at describing the palazzo's history in English and Italian. She made that history come alive with explanations of the meanings of the painted scenes on the ceilings, and the strange history of the unique spherical "ice room" that made the original owners' fortune and led to their downfall when it was used for meetings of the secret Carbonari organization plotting to unite Italy against its Austro-Hungarian rulers. The suite with high frescoed ceilings was a wonderful experience.
Everything was excellent except in our room, the upper mattress did not match the size of the lower.
Thanks to the warm welcome of the family and staff we felt very much at home in this exceedingly beautifully restored palace. Our room decorated with ceiling frescoes was what I can only describe as unbelievable. The tour of the palace that included the historical story of the family and their challenge to restore and preserve the palace was very interesting. Mantova is also a wonderful gem to find in a country that has many overcrowded cities. The recommendations by the family of two nearby local restaurants offering local Mantovan food were both really, really good- beautiful food and reasonably priced.
The museum was a place of historical significance. Cycling around the lakes in perfect weather. fantastic city for walking around. Tortelli Di Zucca
Great location near the centre of Mantova, fantastic building, very comfortable and spacious. We were on bicycle trip and the bikes were secure overnight. Great experience
A opportunity to reside in a Museo with history that should not be missed. The owners are full of warmth and can not be more helpful, The short guided tour of the residence is a must and you will learn of the carbonari and much of the history of the frescos. A unique experience.
The hotel is both a historical site and a minor art museum and the staff could not be better. Even breakfast is exceptional, and the breakfast room is extraordinary. Staying there was a great experience
Bathroom arrangements were a bit odd. In order not to disrupt the plaster ceiling the corridor to further rooms was open above head height but you could hear and lights come on.
Lovely setting in a partially restored Baroque Palazzo
Our room, the Cardinal's Suite, Dr. Rocco Linardi, Mrs. Linardi and two daughters who provided outstanding service. Excellent breakfasts! Will definitely reside at the Casa Museo again and recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you for the experience, Dr Daniel and Monica Stabile
everything was at the top, I really suggest it to everybody
A very special and unique experience ! We would recommend all our friends .
Tour of the palace
The lack of natural light is a bit annoying. Do not plan to spend there time during the day. Get to the good streets of Mantova.
Interesting idea to have a luxury sized full flat located in the basement of a museum, and an office building in one. The owners are really good, they full heartedly welcome guests. Breakfast is fair.
Outstanding service from the owners. Beautifully restored suites. It was a special experience to stay in a beautiful palazzo while visiting the other historic sites of Mantova.
The historical fantasy of a night in the museum. The hospitality we received
Wonderful physical facility. Night in the museum.
A wonderful historic house, providing a special experience and all needed modern comfort. The guided tour with the story of the Valenti family and their house blended with the Italian history of a dramatic period.
Sophisticated, elegant and extremely polite
The excellent, friendly service from a charming family. The fascinating splendour of the beautifully restored building. Being located in the heart of the historical city of Mantua with many visitor attractions, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Wonderful place with its own character- not to be found elsewhere!
Bathroom lights - on a sensor so when you have a shower or a bath it goes off leaving you in darkness.
Centre of town. Lovely staff. Different. Free bikes.
