Volterra is a nice hilltop town with a few churches and museums. The shopkeepers are friendly and they have some lovely artisan products. There is a large outdoor market on Fridays when the whole place has a wonderful atmosphere. The alabaster sculpture are stunning and unusual. There are a couple of good supermarkets with tasty deli selections. It well located for visiting other cities and towns in Tuscany.

The villa was a wonderful place to stay!

The villa was a wonderful place to stay! The building was built in the 15th century but has all the modern amenities. Our host/owner Luca was so accommodating in every way. His staff prepared a delicious breakfast each morning with many varieties of local cuisine. He had even prepared a map and detailed itinerary for several day trips if we wanted to explore the surrounding towns and other sights. This hotel was an excellent find.

Volterra is a beautiful historic town and walking around the narrow streets feels like stepping back several centuries in time. Walking around the traffic free central area was a pleasure. We visited several historic buildings including the beautiful cathedral. Also some excellent museums with great collections and works of art. There are many lovely restaurants and cafes too which make Volterra well worth a visit.

We couldn't have wished for a better place than Villa Gemelli! Fantastic design, spacious, comfortable & well equiped. Amazing pool overlooking green hills of Tuscany! Willa is perfectly located in a close proximity to San Gimigiano and Volterra, also perfect as a starting point to further situated cities like Siena, Montepulciano or Pisa. Great, nice and easy contact with the owner, helpful and increadibly nice ladies looking after the property. Our group of friends spent there one of the best holidays ever. THANK YOU!!!

Wonderful staff! Our first room was on a busy walkway & a bit to noisy… they juggled us into quieter rooms … just very calm & helpful with maps. One of the best breakfasts in our Italy vacation including gluten-free & soy products for my daughter. Nice reading room and a spacious rooftop terrace with a bar… taking breakfast up there optional. Some ancient Etruscan wall uncovered touches & biggest (small by American standards) shower we encountered yet. Right in the center of town - super convenient for us without a car.

We had a wonderful time staying at this family run hotel. The hotel is situated about a twenty minute walk below volterra, meaning it is very peaceful with a lovely outlook over hills of Tuscany. The rooms are a good size and well soundproofed. Parking is plentiful and spacious. Finally the breakfast is amazing, the choices were up there with many top end hotels we have stayed in. The home made cakes, required much willpower not to over indulge. We hope to be able to come back some day.

Great location - the hotel is in a beautiful setting with great views and is close to Volterra, San Gimignano and Florence (though get up early if you want to get your car parked). The hotel buildings themselves are attractive and very Tuscan. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were excellent, staff were very friendly and accommodating - special mention to Ellie who makes a great cappuccino for breakfast.

Set in magnificent countryside between Volterra and Colle Val d'Elsa, with proximity to San Gimignano, Il Boschetto is a perfect place to stay for an authentic Tuscan experience while enjoying peace and the songs of nightingales. Rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is in itself an excellent destination for the local cooking. The owners and staff are welcoming and attentive, and we fully intend to return. Thank you to Dario, Samantha, and Laura.

Very nice location in Tuscany with a very friendly hostess. She does not speak English but manages very well via Whatsapp/Google translate. The apartment was definitely big enough for us and our dog (very dog friendly). The breakfast was just perfect with freshly prepared croissants, eggs, fruits and cakes. Big (salt water) pool with enough beds. Would also recommend to try their olive oil and the restaurant of her son which is in a village nearby!

Check in was easy and room ready earlier than advertised. Location is excellent although Volterra is very hilly so a steep climb from the hotel to the centre of town. Parking easily available. Bedroom was clean and comfortable with good bathroom. Large swimming pool that was very welcome after walking about town. We ate in the hotel restaurant. Very atmospheric with good food and wine. External views were spectacular.

Excellent value, size of apartment (3 floors), and location right in volterra on quiet street. Tons of space, well appointed, great bathrooms and shower, cute kitchen, would make a super base to explore tuscany from for multiple days. Antonio was efficient and welcoming to the city. Was short walk to parking outside walls, and all the restaurant and activity in volterra.

We had the best time at Filettro! Everything was just perfect. The host welcomed us and was super nice! The apartment is in perfect size, and it's very clean. The location is also a plus, we could take small trips to the old city of Volterra and Pisa and other interesting places around. The villa is located about ~15 minute drive from old town Volterra with a huge garden around it. The apartment we stayed in was very nice with a small kitchenette and shaded outside seating as well. There is parking at the location. It is very well situated to explore Volterra and the surrounding area or just to spend a day or two chilling in the garden or at the pool.

Andrea is, by far, the best host we've ever had. He picked us up at the bus station and drove us to the property. He spent some time with us explaining the history of Volterra and recommended us museums and restaurants. The property is located inside the city walls and has stunning views. It is very spacious and the bathroom seems to have been just remodeled.

From our room (room 8) we had a beautiful view on the tower of the monastery. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was big and clean, the parking lot was free and the city center of Volterra is 20 min walking away. So it is a really good place to stay.
