Great Location - within easy walking distance of both the archaeological park and island of Ortygia. Good sound proofing as on a busy road but you would never know it. Very nicely furnished, light and airy rooms. Good breakfast. The rather discrete brass plaque made it rather hard to find whilst negotiating the busy one way traffic system. We had a rather eventful stay - faulty plumbing that flood the bathroom, a power cut that only affected our room and a cockroach in our room! Probably just unlucky. We were offered an alternative room.

Excellent location, near Ortygia island. No parking, but easy to find space nearby. elegant breakfast room and nice little outdoor seating area. Comfortable bed. Very good breakfast. Needs updating, especially bathroom. Shower sealant, shower head and some of grouting mouldy. Owner spontaneously introduced the black areas to us as a 'just the way the sealant reacts'. It isn't, it needs cleaning and totally renewing! Bidet would not empty after filling. Yuk!

Very good location for 5 minute walk into Ortigia. Fairly easy to drive in and out of. Interesting old building. Rooms are mostly away from traffic noise even though the hotel is on a major road. Our room needed some maintenance. Shower door hanging off. Grouting needing replacement. Hot water supply was a little inconsistent.

It is near a busy road, but you wouldn`t know it. Our room was well furnished with a nice bathroom, and breakfast fulfilled our needs. The staff were most helpfull in helping me solve a problem. Bed perhaps slightly soft, but hardly a problem.

Dining and communal areas were beautiful rooms- really lovely to spend time in. Staff were really helpful. Free on street parking nearby and it was a pleasant walk to Ortygia. Felt completely safe wandering back from there in the evenings. Breakfast was good and there was a fair sized fridge in the room. We had a ground floor room off the courtyard which was quiet and would be lovely and cool in summer (we stayed in early April and staff were helpful in getting extra blankets and adjusting the air conditioning). Wi fi only available in communal areas - and then it was a little slow.

It is well situated and there is a parking outside on the street for hotel's guests. Some of the staff are kind enough. The building has a traditional, interesting look. The room, at least, was quiet. Being part of the hotel business my self i had this strange feeling that the hotel accidentally came to the hands of amateurs that they don't know how to run it in a better way. They are kind, o.k , but not efficient ,sometimes you can improve your product not by spending money but simply by using your common sense and...talent. Anyway, if this is the average standard of low cost accomodation in Siracusa then you don't have much of a choice anyway. But it is unacceptable, when your rating is 3 star, to have such a low standard of comfort and service. It deserves to become better...

Location, price, beauty of the hotel, room, the fact that the receptionist gave us many tips about Syracusa (musems, places to visit)... They say they have parking place. Actually they have just 3 parking spaces reserved on the street for the whole hotel. this is misleading. Fortunately around the hotel one can park without paying. It is difficult to find while driving due to the fact that the numbers of the street do not follow the normal sequence.

Very warm and friendly hotel. It stood up to its name i.e. my home. It is very clean, comfortable, big rooms, good breakfast, close to all amenities and to site seeing places. It is very nicely furnished and good value for money. It also offers 2 reserved parkings. Absolutely fantastic.

Excellent location for train/bus station and easy walk to the Ortygia area which is the reason for visiting Syracusa. Spacious accommodation and excellent buffet breakfast served in elegant surroundings and using Villeroy & Boche china! As with all the hotels in Sicily & Italy in which we stayed the bed was very firm which suited our backs perfectly. Very difficult to find especially if walking on the shady side of the street across the road. The large brass plate has the name engraved so is difficult to read even if directly in front of it. Also the 2 trees in tubs either side of the unmarked building cover most of the sign which also reads 'Piccolo Hotel' so we walked straight past and down to the bridge linking the main street to the island of Ortygia (not fun in 45° heat). The location should be amended to 8 minutes walk from the link bridge to Ortygia and on the lefthand side of Via Umberto I.

The room was huge, and the bathroom opulent with both bath and shower and abundant hot water. Great a/c helped us make the room a positive sanctuary from the Siracusa heat and there was plenty of free parking on the streets nearby. It really is only a three minute walk from Ortygia which iis great for ewxploring and popping out for dinner. Breakfast was great and the staff couldn't have been more helpful when we asked them for some advice about the nearest pharmacy - even offering some of their own medication if it would help.

This is an exceptional hotel, transformed from a personal family residence built in the early twentieth century. The name is accurate: you truly feel like you're a guest in a private Sicilian home (a large and exceptional one). High ceilings, beautiful furniture and furnishings, fabulous breakfast. This was by far the best hotel and best value of the five in this price range that we visited in Sicily. And the owner and staff are wonderful. I would definitely return for any type of visit.

We liked the location and the layout of the property. It was very unusual beyond the street door and very attractive. The outdoor breakfast area was lovely The bathroom was a bit smelly and the shower really needs redoing. It worked fine but was shabby. The anthropomorphic was better once we left the window permanently open

Ease of parking, directly in front of the villa. A true Sicilian experience in a lovely converted villa instead of staying at a hotel.
