The beds are not great. Mosquitos were a problem. Can be solved with plug in mosquito killer.
Location, people, breakfast, information
not much - I would have liked to have a tip jar to provide one tip for the entire staff.
We arrived at the hotel on the morning and were told to leave our bags and they would possibly put them in our rooms in the afternoon. We went sightseeing and returned in the afternoon. We met Peter-Paul we ho told us that a plumber was working on our room but it should be finished later on. We couldn't get cleaned up but went for a meal. When we returned we were told that the the room wasn't fit for guests so we would have to stay at their friends hotel down the road. He took us to Hotel Gioia. The hotel was a much lesser hotel but it was very late and my 9 year old was tired so we were willing to stay anyway. When we were led to the room through a hallway up some stairs and then back down some stairs. The room was very odd looking. When I drew the curtains to check the view the whole thing fell down, next I checked the shower and the head was broken so the water went everywhere, lastly I checked the bed but I could feel every spring on my back so I grabbed our stuff and headed back to Hotel Casci. I told the older gentleman with the ear ring, who I believed was the owner but insisted he was the night desk staff that the room was not acceptable. I asked him to show me the original room we booked. He said that the door was locked from the inside so he couldn't show me. I immediately suspected that they had rented the room at a higher rate and tried to send to their friends who had vacancy for obvious reasons. So I asked to know the room number so I could knock on the door if it was empty. He then said that the room was locked for fire safety reason. I explained again that I would not enter but just knock to confirm that no one was staying there . He said that he didn't know the room number because he was the night staff. It was a lame excuse, as any desk clerk would be aware of a room that was out of service. I threatened to go to the police as I was quite certain that they had rented the room to another guest.
Great hotel, location and hospitality! We would come back again. People are very sweet!
The helpfulness of the staff.
Room was a little dark.
Amazing location, very large room, very good breakfast selection each morning, friendly staff
Family run business, staff are extremely friendly. Very handy location right between accademia and the duomo, so everything is within walking distance.
The plumbing (at least in our room) uses a sump pump so the shower will well water at your feet until it decides to work (which involves mechanical sounds at random times of the day or night).
Staff was helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed meeting them. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room inviting. The location is perfect, as it is very close to the Duomo and the Florence market.
They staff was very kind. Even tracked us down at the train station to give my mom her Visa card which she left on their counter!
The breakfast wasn't great.
The staff were ultra friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Staff making sure I had enough and topping up coffee often. The location could not have been better - less than two minutes to the Duomo. Staff have great English and they were patient and kind when I used my limited Italian.
Hearing my neighbour snoring - nothing to do with the hotel or staff...
Loved this hotel would stay again when I return the staff was lovely !!!!
Located near the famous Duomo Cathedral. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Enjoy the buffet breakfast with the gracious proprietors. Convenient to walk to the many museums, local attractions and fine restaurants. Tim and Margie, Imperial Beach, CA USA, May 2014
Location is fabulous. Can't beat it. Staff Were lovely.
Would have liked a kettle in the room.
The staff were all very polite and helpful. The location was an ideal spot in Florence. The rooms were unique and the building was very old.
Very well located. Could walk to everything. Lovely staff.
The staff here is amazing. Always willing to help out with anything we needed.
The beds were very hard and the pillows especially. I'd they got those pillow top mattresses it would be better.
The location and the friendly staff
It was cold in my room
It is a family run small hotel on the 2nd floor of a building so it slightly hidden from the street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They showed us where our room was, had some breakfast items ready for us since we had an early departure for a tour one day, and were always friendly. They were always in contact with me via email if I had any questions or concerns leading up to my stay.
Our bath tub leaked slightly, but nothing major and we just placed a towel on the floor by the leak. Connecting to the Wifi was difficult and the one staff member i asked about it, stated he could not help me, so i did not have wifi in the hotel. I did use the hotel computer, but it needs updated with faster internet (very dated and slow). This computer was not super efficient.
We received a very warm welcoming email from the hotel after we had booked. Hotel has great location, only 5 minutes from the Duomo. Family owners and staff were very helpful and friendly. They made reservations for us at the Uffizi and Academia Galleries and also sold us tickets for the hop-on-hop-off bus. The rooms were clean and comfortable with modern bathrooms. Breakfast was good and appetizing. They had a large library of Italian travel guides for use by the guests, and the owners were very helpful in suggesting good restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
Location is wonderful. Staff also very nice.
The small room is a bit noise.
You feel like home, amazing place!
I liked the cleanliness. I was very clean and didn't smell of smoke, mold, pets, or air fresheners. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was amazing, and the hotel was central to most monuments and museums. I had my own bathroom with plenty of hot water, fresh towels everyday. I liked that it was family own it felt like I was visiting my grandma's house not a hotel.
Very welcoming, good location and spotlessly clean. Walking distance from both the station and the centre of town.
I was woken up in the mornings by staff shouting in the corridor - very thin walls!
