Cascina Sant'Eufemia is nothing short of utopia. A beautiful and peaceful farm, gorgeously set in the lush hills of Piemonte providing great views over the vineyards and the valley below. All this makes for a perfect setting to enjoy some great wines (their own Dolcetto, Barbera and Nero d'Alba are the best I've tasted in Italy) or play with the dogs or cats, which are very friendly. It's a quiet place and I've slept like a baby every night in our lovely room. In short, both the location, the farm and the rooms are picture perfect. And then - the food. Breakfast is really amazing. A variety of fresh local cheeses, meats and marmalades. Or yoghurts with muesli if you prefer something lighter. And all other things one needs to start the day. Best, however, are the fresh baked cakes, served warm every morning. Always delicious and almost non-fat! Breakfast is served in the lovely outside veranda. Best of all, however, are the hosts. Paolo with his charming humor and Chiara with a witty intelligence are two of the most lovely people you'll meet in Italy. They make you feel at home instantly. They join in for a chat at breakfast and have some great pointers for restaurants and things to do in the area. No doubt about it; when in Piemonte, Cascina Sant'Eufemia is the best place to be.
