My husband and I stayed at this villa/castle on our last night in Italy because it looked tranquil and is located near the airport (20 Mins). The Castello Della Castelluccia was so relaxing and interesting. The castle is full of antiques, vaulted walls, stone steps, and a fabulous pool. We were so happy to be able to sleep in a bit b/c of the close proximity to the airport. The staff was friendly and very courteous. We feel we now have a great place to start and end our trips to Italy. The restaurant is a bit stuffy and pricey. We enjoyed our meal but feel we might venture out to dine next time rather than pay the high prices on the limited menu. However, the breakfast buffet was plentiful and enjoyable.

We stayed here twice. The first night of our arrival to Italy for our 2 week trip and the last night. It was conveniently located fairly near the airport and away from the congestion of central Rome. The setting was gorgeous. We have a small child (age 6) and spent our time walking around the grounds and swimming in the pool. The terrace is a wonderful place to sit and have a coffee or drink. Breakfast was excellent. We didn't try the dinner as it was not kid friendly, but we did go to a very nice restaurant in town nearby that was very popular with the locals and perfect for children. Overall, we really enjoyed this place and would come back in the future. Our room was fairly small and was on a ground floor so we didn't get a lot of natural light or a view. We were put in the same room twice, so it must be a typical room for a family of 3. The WiFi didn't work, but the staff at the desk was very accomodating when we had to use a computer to check in electronically for our return flight. The staff was very helpful in general. The water pressure in the shower wasn't strong enough and this was a little annoying.

The Castello is absolutely luscious. A castle rebuilt over the ages, it is stunning. The frescoes, wall and ceiling paintings are exquisite, as is the extensive collection of antique furniture liberally dispersed around the building. It sits on top of a terraced hill in beautiful grounds, the pool area being at the bottom - sixty or so steps down (the hotel does provide a golf cart to take you back up the hill should you wish!) We also thought very highly of the housekeeping service and the pool attendant who were very diligent and friendly. We also loved the family run pizzeria/restaurant at the end of the road, who provided us delicious food at 11pm for a fraction of the price of the hotel's fare. Unfortunately, putting an amazing property like this in the hands of this hotelier seems like sacrilege. Our list of gripes regarding service is almost endless and matches many of the observations made in other reviews here. Reception staff had been trained to smile but beyond that were limited in usefulness, lets say. As for the piped music throughout public areas, for the reviewer who was beset by endless Abba, good news! The hotel has reached the letter "B" now: Brian Adams, Bon Jovi, Bonnie Tyler, the Bee Gees, Berlin and Beverley Craven. The Pay Per View TV did not work (the only English TV available apart from Fox, Sky and BBC News channels). Late night noise occurred from 2 of the 3 weddings that occurred in our 6 days at the hotel. Room service consisted of "I suppose we could do you a sandwich, but that's all until the restaurant opens at 8, then you can have anything from the (terribly overpriced and limited) restaurant menu." (I am not going to blame the hotel for the food poisoning that I got on the first night of my stay and which cost me a day of my holiday.) We paid for a deluxe room ("some of which have jacuzzi baths" said the write up on Booking.com) - ours had no bath, only a very small shower without even a soap dish. Wifi was only available in public areas or hanging out of the window of our room. Worst of all, one of the maintenance staff decided to come into our room with his pass key without even knocking whilst we were sleeping, and did not even apologize. Paying €160 a night, we expected a lot more. Had we paid the rack rate of €385 a night, we would have walked out after the first day. What a shame.

Nice castle, really good place to organize a wedding or to stay some days far from town. A car is really a good idea as the castle is far from everything and the only way to get out of it, is taxi (65 euros for Fiumicino airport and around 45 for Termini train station). They offer a shuttle service, but for the closest small train station at 3km from the castle. It would have been good to have more than 1 solution to eat in the castle. There was only one restaurant open at specific time and you needed to book it. The food was really good, but it's quite expensive (between 75 and 100 euros for 2 people). The spa was closed for the time we stayed there, so unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy it.

Great swimming pool we had mostly to ourselves. Beautiful hotel. Nice and quiet area. Pictures are not all recent but they give an accurate impression. The pool was enough to overcome the downsides of the hotel Absurd showercurtain hanging in the middle of the bath to protect the window. Bath was not cleaned properly. Bed was bent in the middle, not just the awful spring mattress but the steel construction as well, as if a heavy person had jumped up and down on it. Sewer odeur wafting to the swimming pool during weddingpartys, too many people for the sewerage system I suppose, fortunately there were only 3 when we were there. Breakfast: nothing was replenished automatically, everyday we had to ask for bread (was gone by 9, breakfast till 11) milk, teawater, teabags etc. seemed like the hotel wanted to save money by not refilling. Ill mannered eel like creep of a waiter in the pricy restaurant. The rabbit was nothing more than a spoon full of minced meat! Spa was unavailable, I was informed of this a week in advance per email

We stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon. Our room was fantastic with a sitting room and we even had a small balcony. Views over the countryside were beautiful. Can't imagine a more romantic way to start married life together. The fresco on the ceiling made our room all the more special. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was top notch and waiting staff were excellent at their jobs and happy to engage in conversation. Buffet breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. The hotel was just the right distance from Rome and at a cost of 1 euro to get into the city in around 40 minutes it was perfect. The free shuttle from hotel to the station was great but could be a little more frequent. All in all a fabulous place to stay- would definately return. The only complaint we have is that the bed wasn't very comfortable in our room- but maybe that's just us!

The hotel itself is fantastic, the pool is great and its quick and relatively easy to get into Rome Having read previous reviews I thought we wouldnt need to hire a car ..... but you do. When we arrived we asked what there was close to the hotel and the answer we got was ' nothing'. Because of this we felt a little trapped at the hotel and it meant if we didn't go into Rome we had to eat at the hotel, don't get me wrong the quality of the food was good, but the menu limited and a bit pricey. Also the spa facilities were not working for the whole time we were there!

This hotel was a complete delight. We were looking for a one night stay at the end of our holiday so we were near enough to Rome airport on the following morning. We were not too bothered re facilities in view of this but we were overwhelmed. A real classy hotel with classy decor, staff and facilities hidden away from the nearby hustle and bustle. Lovely clean rooms, top quality fitments and a large pool. The pool actually had a permanent attendant who gave you towels and showed you to a recliner. Restaurant staff were formally dressed and attentive. Menu a bit pricey but you felt you were getting value in view of the care shown. Despite being booked for a stop over this was one of the hotel highlights of our trip. Not that easy to find as you come off the nearby bustling dual carriageway nearby and easy to overshoot the exit as you go under a bridge (as we did and had to loop back). Pool is a long way down from hotel (and back up!) via steps if infirm.

The best !!! hotel for romantic weekend. Wonderful scenery around the castle, calm and peaceful atmosphere. One should definitely go for a romantic swim at night in the pool. A little pricy, but very good menu at restaurant. Bar closes at 23.00, no permanent bartender during the day

A lovely property set in the beautiful countryside surroundings of Rome. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our room was lovely and very comfortable with good views. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. There are many historic and interesting towns & villages that are easily accessible by car from the castle, making for great day trips! You need a car to get to the hotel. A taxi ride from Rome or from the airport would be very expensive!

Beautiful facility. There are many hidden costs that you get hit with at the end of your stay. Ask for all fees at the beginning of your stay. It is very hard to get to the hotel, it is simply too difficult to travel to and from this location to Rome.

The Restaurant was incredible and good value for money. The room was spacious, comfortable and equipped with all the mod cons we would require. the communal facilities were not as expected, the 'spa' was run down and had two cold water whirlpools, the pool was closed and over grown and the bar area was not staffed and had ants everywhere. Service was mixed, good in the restaurant, terrible on the front desk - unhelpful, we were told we were too early to order a taxi on three occasions then had to wait when they finally conceded to order one. Also we asked for a sandwich for lunch and were charged 20 Euros for dry stale bread and cheese - it was inedible.
