A beautiful quiet retreat from the bustle of the big cities. Quite a treat to actually stay in a castle. Wished we had pre arranged bicycle hire to roam around the area. Only 12 - 15 Euro to get a cab there. Just buy supplies first.
Beautiful renovation of old castle; we stayed in the spacious 2 bedroom apartment and enjoyed the period features and wonderful views. Owners were very friendly and helpful, telling us where to find supermarkets and lovely walks. Ideal for people who want to go on local walks or cycle trips; (am sure owners would advise on cycle hire.)
It didn't affect us but there are a few steps up to castle - as booking info tells you.
The owners were welcoming and very nice to deal with. Location was great, nice to be in the countryside. Views were great because this is on top of a hill. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and all of the rooms were a nice size.
We knew ahead of time that there would not be any wi-fi, but still it was a bother not to have it - just makes it harder to research your next day trip.
Great location for a fairly good price, I had a great weekend here.
Great view from the window. The castle is kind of cool but it won't blow your mind or anything. There's a bus stop down the street (just be aware they aren't supper frequent). Taxis are available in town and cost about €15
No Internet. Nothing close by.
The rooms were beautiful as we'll as the view. The owners are very pleasent and made us feel very welcome.
We stayed in the upper suites and there are a lot of stairs but once you got there it was really worth the trip
A magic place in Toscany! Very close by car to Siena and other small towns and villages! A real castle clean, with nice furniture and fantastic view. Welcoming hosts!
We got a lovely welcome from the proprietors. This is a quite unique apartment in the heart of a small castle, out in the countryside. It is located on the castles route around Chianti. All these are on the tops of hills, so don't complain that your apartment is about 20m higher than your parking space, up a steep walkway through the castle gate, or up 53 steps. So you get good views! Absolute quietness, and a cool interior, with comfortable facilities. There is a very nice restaurant close by.
The kitchen and its equipment could do with a makeover.
We liked the layout of the apartment and that it had a small kitchen where you could cook. Everything was clean and in working order
The owners were very unfriendly when we arrived. We struggled to find the place and when we finally arrived there they left us two girls by ourselves to carry all our luggage up to the room..probably about 70 steep stairs. Inside it does not feel like a castle whatsoever..in fact it's just an old building. Our room had no windows and smelled like mildew. I would not recommend this at all even though I'm usually not fussy when it gets to hotels..There are better places around Siena for the same price.
Views and helpfulness of staff.
Giovanni, Helena and Mom were wonderful and hospitable hosts. Beautiful location. Clean, well maintained and comfortable.
Castello di Monteliscai is a real castle... Our experience started with the warm welcome of the owners (Elena and her family). They offered us wine and it was really good. The castle is located 3 km outside the city of Siena so you need a car if you intend to visit the city. We planned to visit the Toscana region, Terre di Siena so the location was very convenient to us. The castle experience was unique and we all liked it. The nature around it is so calming and peaceful. Hope to visit again.
Very fun place to stay. You need a car as it's a drive to get anywhere but how often do you get to stay in a castle? The staff here is great. We had some problems during out trip and needed a late check in and the staff was very accommodating.
Steep walk up hills. Not a problem for us but beware that it's not good for those that can't handle lots of steps.
Ellena was delightful.Great to be out of Siena,if only a few kls.Their produced wine was tops.Good place to access Chianti wine district.
We were located in the Tower, which was great, but naturally be prepared to climb a few steps.
Cozy room with lots of history. Very special feeling to live in castle that old. Very kind and helpful staff! We just loved it!
If you aren't strong enough to carry up your bags from parking lot then you should look for another place to stay.
The owners and the family could not do enough for us, wonderful warm genuine welcome that continued for the whole time we were visiting. Loved everything, and so close to Siena by taxi ride, yet beautiful countryside peace.
The owners, the history and the opportunity to spend time in a castle was a highlight to our trip. It was exactly what we were looking for and captured the heart of the area of Sienna.
The castle is very pretty, and is in the Tuscan countryside.
No wifi at the castle.
Exotic place :) Perfect view, very romantic atmosphere.
No wi-fi, feels like in middle ages:)
plenty of space in the room, great views of the vineyard. very comfortable stay. \the family running the business were great to deal with. The setting was very lovely. Be sure to ask about the apartments in vineyard as opposed to the castle.
WiFi needed in units
Spacious apartment (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen with dining table and large living room) Nice location out of Siena Quite
No breakfast available, but there is a kitchen for anyone who wishes to prepare one on his own. No cleaning services during the 3 days of our stay. No personnel available within the castle
Lots of character in a 1000 year old castle, lots of space to spread out.
Difficult to find and we did not understand that this was an independent apartment not part of a complex run as vacation rentals.
