On a hill overlooking the green valley between Assisi and Perugia, Castello Di Monterone takes its name from the area where it is located. It features a restaurant with a panoramic terrace.

Location, spacious room with tea and coffee making facility, nice breakfast
Food was not quite warm enough one night in the restaurant, but it was busy and all the diners arrived at the same time. Food was piping hot second night
We loved the old world charm of the fortress, rich in history and authenticity yet with modern conveniences. We had suite 220 which was exceptionally spacious and had 2 floors with 2 terraces. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating to meet all our needs. The food was exceptional and boasted fresh, locally grown ingredients. The view was absolutely spectacular, high on a hill overlooking Assisi. If you go, most definitely book the hot tub at sunset. That was truly a fabulous experience, not to mention relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. We have travelled all over Italy to many of its regions and this was one of our most memorable stays.
There wasn't anything that we truly didn't like. The pool was very cold but even that is not a negative for some.
Beautiful interior views and friendly staff.
For a 4 star hotel the breakfast disappointing, surely freshly squeezed juices at least O J. Choice of eggs not just boiled. Dinner poor choice, and most disappointing, would have cooked much superior food!
Perfect location, nice hotel, authentic environment, beautiful gardens and facilities, very nice and efficient staff, good foods. A perfect address for quiet and healthy vacations.
the location , swimming pool, quietness, beautiful garden
noisy Italians around the swimming pool,
Extremely kindness of all the personal. Wonderful garden and breathless overview. Gastronomic table and very wide choice of wines. This kind of rare moments has been marked in our mind. Thanks to the owners. We'll come back!
Location. Solitude. Beauty. Property. Staff. Room. Service. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a beautiful charming spot.
It was our second visit to the Castello. It is beautifully cared for and in a spectacular location, giving you peace, privacy, and a wonderful view of Assisi, from it's hilltop location. Enrika is one of the family that owns the Castello. She is a warm and welcoming and made our vacation special in so many ways! My husband and I hope to return again!
The winding roads to the Castello are scenic, but remember to stay to the right side of the road. Just a caution, as it is worth the trip!
First thing, what an amazing view! We really enjoyed our stay at Castello di Petrata - the staff is very friendly and helpful, together with the luxurious facilities makes it a great place. Tip: winesdinner is really special!
Location must be seen to be believed. Pictures do not do it justice. Staff friendly, helpful, personable. This was by far the most specular hotel we visited during two weeks in Italy.
Would help to have driving directions to the Castello on the web site.
A warmhearted atmosphere on the beautiful, silent hills. A paradise of its own. Good food and excellent sorrounding for relaxing and meditation.
The Castello is built in such a way to maximize the views of the rolling hills and the Basilica of Assisi. Our room was lovely and quiet. The staff was terrific and the food exquisite. If you stay there dont just enjoy the breakfasts (which are marvelous) but enjoy the dinners which are freshly prepared and so tastely. The Castello is a wonderful place to enjoy peace and quiet and I would highly recommend it! Its a bit tricky to find but so worthwhile. I am forever grateful for the experience.
The shower was self enclosed and filled up rather quickly I was a little concerned it would overflow but it didnt. Great water pressure though!
