Score from 340 reviews Very good
I really liked this hostel, it's not big and it's clean, location is very good, it's 15 minutes walk from Termini and I liked the wondow view on the Piazza di Porta Maggiore. Also from there you can walk to a lot of touristic places even don't use a public transport. The personal is very kind and helpful! Room was clean and I had a personal bathroom. Wi-fi signal was good and internet was fast. It also has a kitchen with all neccessary things and in the morning they serve a breakfast (coffee/tea, coissant and jam/nutella), it's very nice esp when you don't have time to go somewhere for a breakfast. So I liked this hostel and next time will stay there again and will advice it to my friends :)
helpful staff, kitchen and toilet/bathroom fully equipped
bit too noisy outside
- helpful staff - clean bathroom - accessibility of city center by walk
- noise from the street even with windows closed
This place is value for money. I stayed in a single room, and the room was very clean. The shared bathroom was also very well kept. There's also hair dryer. There's a small kitchen where you can boil some hot water. Olek, the guy there could not speak English, but he used google translator to communicate with me. This place is located 4 tram stops from termini stop, and after alighting it's just 2 mins walk. For the price I paid, overall it's good value for money
It can be quite noisy at night as the place is located near a large intersection.
I felt welcome, and had coffee at arrival, that was so nice. The room had a good size, good view to the street, bathrooms were fine and clean.Good wifi. Very friendly staff, will be back.
The bed was too hard for me.
friendly staff(russian-polish speaking) placement clean private bathroom close to the historical center and Termini
a bit loud
Bathroom and kitchen were OK.
The longer-staying guest.
The hostel manager was a very kind man who made all of us solo travellers feel welcome. Despite the fact that we had trouble communicating due to different languages, he understood our needs easily.
Because of the proximity to the tram lines, it can get quite noisy.
The room and bathroom were very clean. The landlord is friendly but it's a pity that it's impossible to communicate with him.The tram to the Colosseum is just outside the accommodation. There is also a tram directly to the Termini train station from Castello Maggiore.
The landlord doesn't speak English at all. As I said he is very friendly but it's impossible to communicate. They could really improve the breakfast quality. The internet was not working at all. The building from outside looks very ugly, like you see in the outskirts of a city. It was difficult to find Castello Maggiore from outside. We had to ask the tobacco shop next door. Walking to Termini takes approx. 20 minutes which was ok for us.
The staff was very kind and helpful. The room, toilet and kitchen were clean and well.
The staff does not know English.
The room was fairly large and had a chair, table and wardrobe. It all seemed quite new-ish and the bathroom was clean.
The staff (one Russian/Italian guy, not sure) spoke literally no English. We used an online translator to communicate, which led to major misunderstandings. I didn't get that my room wasn't ready and assumed it was, as I was let in and got the key. As I returned from a walk I had to find out that the guy had moved my stuff and finished doing my room and therefore touched things like my pyjamas, which creeped me out. If he'd have spoken the slightest bit of English he could've told me and I'd have put my stuff away. The location isn't great either. It's next to some ruins, which are great, but it's very noisy as there's a huge roundabout and tram station. It's also hard to find as the B&B is just in a normal house and the only sign is on the doorbell. At times there was no key in the bathroom, so it couldn't be locked. The guy also slept in the "reception", a desk in the hallway behind a curtain, which scared me in the morning. When I arrived I also had to knock and ring several times before someone opened, someone arriving after me had the same problem.
Good location - close to the railway station and sightseeings like Colosseum. Friendly staff, good value for money.
There was quite noisy street outside and it was hard to sleep with an open window, ok with the closed though.
The Wi-Fi worked well.
The worst hotel I've ever stayed in! It is at least a 20 min walk from Termini station in a seedy area; not the 10 min claimed on their web site. There is no sign marking the property, so it is very hard to find. The owner spoke no English. It smells bad, the bathroom was not clean, and there was no hot water after one shower! The room was hot, with no A/C, but if windows are open, the traffic, tram & train noise are deafening. Breakfast was only a few pieces of packaged bread, & some spreads. No coffee/tea, no meat/cheese, nothing good! This is more like a hostel than a B&B. I would have paid double this price to have stayed at a real hotel if I had it to do over again. I don't know how this has a rating above 2; has to be fraud.
if you r traveling on a budget quite ok. Single room was ok. Friendly staff. Cleanliness in the toilets could be better
Breakfast not fancy at all very disappointing and poor. Cleanliness in the toilets could be better
being in Rome for 4 days (3 nights), Castello Maggiore seem to be a very fair option: - close to termini, Tram and other sort of public transportation, not that far from Metro - that it's quite close to the city main attractions, we went to city center on foot on the first afternoon. - Very clean and comfortable enough for this money - location is near a pretty busy street, so could be noisy at night - but why I'm putting this here? how could you expect a silent place in the middle of Rome?
- could be a bit closed to the center and Metro
Thanks Gelu. He is incredibly nice and helpful. The room is very clean. And we have our individual toilet and bathroom which is very clean as well. The help yourself breakfast can keep you a long time a day. I had trouble in printing my boarding pass and phone cable. When I seek help from the landlord, he offered me a great help and resolved my headache easily. Thank you so much! I will definitely stay at your place when I visit Rome again.
I was looking for a cheap place since I was solo on a 24-hr stopover, and the price was right. Bed was relatively comfortable and facilities were clean.
This place does NOT have AC as advertised, and the street noise is nonstop, so windows are not a great alternative. The location was not convenient enough to Termini station to merit being so far from everything else. I only saw staff once, at check in, and had no means of contacting. Breakfast was terrible -- a bunch of pre-packaged rolls, crackers, and cookies with nothing else.
The cleanliness Large room Helpful and friendly staff Good connection to several sights like the Colosseum The flat screen tv
Wi-Fi was slow and unreachable for most of the time, especially on cellphone but works fine on tablets
Very friendly staff, cosy rooms, best choice for this money
