Castello Vicchiomaggio

Nous avons adoré les lieux! La vue sur la campagne, les vignobles du Chianti! Le calme y règne, le raffinement. La chambre était confortable très jolie, idem pour la salle de bains. Nous avons adoré la piscine à débordement sur le chianti. La visite des caves, très sympa. Nous y étions lors du dîner spécial Dégustations de vin. Le personnel est très gentil et à l'écoute. Nous n'avons rien à redire. et le lieu est superbe!!!! Il faut vraiment y aller surtout si vous aimez bien les bons vins!

Nous avons bien aimé les vins, par contre le dîner n'était pas génial. Un peu trop "attrape touristes" à notre goût et la nourriture laissait un peu à désirer, heureusement nous avons apprécié les vins et en avons acheté à la boutique le lendemain... Quand au déroulement du dîner, une partie s'est faite en chanson avec un pianiste-chanteur qui a fait quelques reprises de U2, Edith PIAF... C'était un peu trop en fait nous en avons ri.. Nous gardons toutefois un bon souvenir, le lieu est enchanteur!!

It was wonderful. The staff and service people were warm and friendly. The view was great, and the Castle and gardens were very relaxing. I would highly recommend Vicchiomaggio !

The lights in the stair well are on a time delay, approx. 5 minutes and then go out. I was caught in the stairwell when the lights went out and it was total dark. I fell and sprained my wrist. In addition to the time delay, they should install motion detectors to keep the lights on.

The waiter sings and plays piano at dinner...quite nice in the old castle.

Internet was not as promised which caused problems planning the winery tours.

Everything. Wednesday night olive oil dinner was fabulous. The castle is beautiful and in an incredible setting. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I wish they offered a more extensive tour of the castle itself.

Rooms were large, clean and the staff was friendly.

Isolated. The advertisements made it sound like Napa Valley of Italy.

The host family was wonderful. We did not have a car, and they assisted us with transfers. Without there help, we would have been in a mess. A car is a necessity.

Honestly, didn't know what to except in a "castle", we were impressed. The experience of the room, location, and the surroundings were fabulous....we really enjoyed it!

the stairs to get to room....although we know that an elevator would not make sense. Lifting our heavy suitcases was not an easy task.

What isn't there to like?!? It was fabulous. The castle is just what I imagined, Stone & brick very quaint w/ awesome views and vistas of the Tuscan countryside.We had dinner at Castle. It was "Olive Oil" influenced, everything was delicious. The wines made by the winery were good. We shipped 1/2 case home!! The grounds of the castle were great for having wine and cheese, just sitting and viewing the valley/countryside. The infinity pool is wonderful. Greve is a great village in the countryside. We spent time in Greve and were about an hours drive to Siena. Anyone going to the Tuscany region needs to check this place out.

Beautiful scenery & vineyard

Poorly equipped suite. They provided tea bags & sweetener, but no stirrers or silverware. Instructed to wash your dishes, but no towels. We went into town & bought paper towels & plastic silverware. Towels were of poor quality, half used shampoo, that was never replaced. No place to hang towels in a large bathroom. No stool, or table to put toiletries on. We took a chair from the large room & put it in the bathroom, so we wouln't have to put everything on the floor. Stairs leading up to our room, we're dangerous & poorly light. It was pouring rain on our arrival & there was no one to help with luggage. We are in good shape, & it was very difficult to get our belongings up to our suite. Maybe we were not prepared & didn't know what to expect, however we were disappointed. Upon arriving, the staff was not very friendly, or helpful. We tried to make reservations for dinner, but they were having a private party. The next days Planned Dinner was cancelled. We went into Greve for dinner, 15 min away on winding roads & found excellent choices. Gallo Nero & Nerbone do Greve, we're both wonderful!

Stayed in very large and atmospheric apartment in main castle with gorgeous views over the valley Loved the infinity pool. Monday banquet is well worth doing.

shame that breakfast couldnt be outside

Ideally located in Chianti just off the main route from Florence to Siena. Set on a hill, sporting unbelievable views of the surrounding countryside. The rooms in the castle itself are massive.

The food was a little disappointing for the price.

the view of the surrounding countryside, the very large room we had was execellent. The wine tour and dinner was very good and the wine flowed.

thought that the staff could of been friendly particually at breakfast, the breakfast i thought was poor value for the money and it should of been replenished more often.

Perfect location. Excellent service and food. Unique, romantic ambience. Fabulous views. Will always return.

love our time here, one night was perfect for us, the pool has a great view. and the service was great! we also did the monday night special wine pairing dinner. the food was ok, but they give you a lot of pretty good wine :) would stay here again.

The views of the hills on which castle is situated are breathtaking! Actually they make quite a decent wine!

They provide dinner options on 3 days a week. We were there for the olive oil dinner...was amazing! The food, service and oh yes I forgot the wine :) Its definitely worth staying, just that I would have liked to know what it was.

Lovely property in themidst of a vineyard but not a hotel..more of a b&b Castle :). No elevators so if you have heavy luggage u will be carrying them up ! No aircons but you dont need it with the breeze.

Incredible view of country side. Great site for wine lovers. Pool is fabulous. Romantic diner available. Close to Greve in Chianti and-or other day trip destinations.

We loved Vicchiomaggio. We stayed in La Canonica ( I believe room name was Galileo) and had a well proportioned suite complete with large living area and excellent size bedroom. The views from the grounds are gorgeous and it's fairly close to Greve. The drive to Castellini and as far south as Montalcino/Montepulcuiano were breathtaking but long days; Vicchiomaggio was a welcome sight to "come home" to. If you can stay on a Monday, they do a mini wine tour and 5 course dinner with wine pairings that was fantastic. The waiter, Marco??, doubled as a pianist and it made for truly wonderful dinner.

Location was great up with the vineyards, and the views were to die for. The staff were extremely nice and helpful.

It can be a struggle to get to without a car, we took a bus and walked uphill for about 2km.

Great location, rooms all good, swimming pool. Breakfast staff very welcoming.

A bottle of the castello wine on arrival would have been a nice touch, a warm welcome from the staff who were working there would also have been nice, includes reception and the wine staff. The shared facilities could have been better, but I appreciate how that could have been abused. Lacked. A great location and good facilities, just didn't do the extra mile for us.

The castle was awesome in its furniture and unique features. The infinity pool looks out over the vineyards and is a great place to relax after shopping or wine tastings. The staff is very friendly and speak English well. I would stay here again!

The place is very peaceful and relaxing.

The price is too expancive to be a bed & breakfast and also breakfast was not included in the price. In addition, the cost for breakfast is Euro 12 for each person to have only italian breakfast and not american or international breakfast. The room was in a bulding in front the castle.
