Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, the Sassi has been extensively restored into modern dwellings. Guests can make visits to the Ridola National Archaeological Museum and the new Museum of Modern Art.
Matera is a half-hour drive from the sandy beaches of the Ionian Coast. Visitors can enjoy mountaineering excursions in the Parco Nazionale del Pollino.

Really nice hotel, all rooms have seperate entrance. We stayed in room 5, which is literally a cave. Views were awesome and we just couldnt get to bed .... stayed outside on the terrace till late, and keep in mind it was freezing! it's a cave, so it got quite stuffy .... but that's part of the experience!! |

Our room was really spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The location of the hotel was really good and we could see two famous churches from our balcony. We had to leave really early on the last day and the hotel staff left some breakfast in our room the night before for us. We had a great time there. Thanks! |

The staff was very helpful. Made phone calls for us in Italian when we could not converse in the language. Pablic parking needs to be clarfied on web site. Parking was not private. Public parking in the piazza. |

The staff was fantastic. Just what I was looking for in the heart of old town in Matera. Rooms were clean and nice bed was comfortable. Would recommend staying here to anyone. The hotel is in a great location, but pretty hard to find your first time. |

Whereas the Caveoso Hotel and the many others around it are not strictly caves and have modern comforts, you still get the feeling that you are living in a cave. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and fresh. It is also a short walk up the hill (covered in the Sassi) to get to the centre of Matera. We were lucky enough to time our visit with a local festival and were able to see a wonderful midnight firework and music show from the hotel. |

The location was excellent, the view was spectacular, the accommodation was spacious and comfortable and the included breakfast was delicious. It was exceedingly difficult to find, and definitely not for anyone with a mobility issue. |

Rooms were nicely appointed, the hotel is walking distance from the beautiful historic town, the breakfast provided onsite was delicious and had a larger selection than is typical in this region. There is plenty of parking in the piazza with abundant signage to locate the reception. Exceptional value - we will come back. |

立地が良く、景色はすばらしい。２泊しましたが、ホテルの方の好意でスイートに泊まらせていただきました(- これはあとでわかったことですが)。繁忙期ではなかったのでゆっくりと過ごすことが出来ました。 ネットが有料なこと(１時間２ユーロ)。駅やバス停から遠いので、歩くとかなり疲れる。洗面の水はけがかな- り悪い。 |

Eigenlijk niets, een teleurstelling na ons zeer plezierige verblijf in Palazzo Papaleo in Otranto. Personeel totaal niet geinteresseerd. Nam niet de moeite de radio wat zachter te zetten, ook niet tijdens het karige ontbijt. |
