Good location with free parking. Breakfast was very nice and our room had a lovely view over the church and square. A good base for exploring the sassi areas.
Have difficulty finding anything to say that was likeable. The bed was very good and the bathroom adequate
Very poor location with difficult access. No staff to help with luggage up a very rough path and up very steep steps to the rooms. The Caveoso is at best should be classed as a bed and breakfast. There are no facilites to cook food and no kitchen. The breakfast comes from plastic packs of ham and cheese. There is no parking for a car and the local population resent visitors to the extent of vandalising cars. The rooms are more like prison cells with no view outside and the seating area outside only looks onto derelict buildings. I would not recommend this bed and breakfast or Matera in general to anyone.
Very very humid even though there were two dehumidifiers and one air conditioning units. We stayed only one night because of this. Also, mold on walls.
Loved sleeping in a luxury cave
The view from room 9 was exquisite, the staff was extremely friendly and I slept extremely well.
A somewhat more modern hair dryer might be good though the one there works. Wireless never seemed to work for me but I did not miss it a bit. It seemed to be working for other guests though.
Excellent room and high cost performance. Old Sassi style room. Location to enjoy nice Sassi area.
Loud air conditioner and dehumidification machine. Door of shower room can't be completely closed. Not easy to find the hotel and parking area.
Poor breakfast. But this is everywhere in Italy, since Italians are used to have only a cup of coffee and cookies for breakfast.
Nothing, it was perfect
Staying in a cave was an experience.
We lost hot water. There wasn't enough electric power to plug in two pieces of electronics. It kept blowing the fuses. My adapter burned! There was no protein for for breakfast.
The hospitality was A+. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The views from our room were breath taking. Centrally located. Our stay was magical.
Driving and parking are a challenge. However, our host told us where the free parking was located.
It's very humid inside room, sleep very uncomfortable
fabby room with balcony overlooking sassi spacious and airy and good location
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good bed. Pleasant room with nice view.
Room was a bit dusty.
A lot of humidity in the room. The floor was not clean at all. Internet service in the room never worked after requesting the service to be fixed.
The room was really cool! So different and unique. The room was also very spacious with high end designer furniture. I would describe the room as fashionable.
The humidity in the room was unbearable. The sheets was wet along with the bedding. A humidifier was in the room but did not dry it out.
The location, the type of room and the general setup in the rooms.
Breakfast was weak, pizza and croissants basically. Some juice and water. More options would be preferable.
The hotel staff were so helpful in preparing us for a family wedding.
Plastic cups at breakfast...glasses PLEASE!
The man at reception is extremely unpleasant - there was no help offered with carrying the bags up the many steps - internet doesnt work - towels, etc werent changed - there is no parking onsite as indicated on their website - we were told it was ok to park the car down the road & got a parking ticket - wish I had read the other reviews & stayed somewhere else
Loved close proximity to important sites if the town and caves
Travelling with my elderly mother who needs aid of walking stick was a challenge with uneven rock footpaths and stairs to climb near the hotel but we enjoyed the experience just the same
We arrived in a torrential downpour but the kindness of the manager and beautiful hotel gave us a sunny feeling. There was a mistake on my booking and the manager thought I wanted one bed. I explained that I was traveling with my adult son and by the time we unloaded our suitcases he arranged a very comfortable extra bed in the room. The room is so unique and took my breath away. We entered a lower level entryway with a cavelike feeling and then up the stairs was a very large bedroom with high ceiling. Even in the pouring rain the view was fabulous. In fact it is one of my best pictures. Double doors open to a nice size balcony but because of the inclement weather we were not able to make use of it. It looked even nicer than the photos on the website. Be sure to request a room with a balcony if available for your dates The morning breakfast was very nice and the lady in charge gave us all the cappuccinos we wanted. We were only able to stay one night but hope to return to this very unique corner of Italy in the future.
the hotel room, the breakfast , in the heart of Matera
parking is difficult
everything. room amazing , light and airy with balcony overlooking Sassi.
one male member of front of house staff was not too helpful. girls were very friendly.
Location was great, right in the centre of the caveoso quarter, ideal for sightseeing. The cave bedroom was lovely and spacious.
We initially had trouble finding the hotel (Google map indicates another location) worth checking the exact location before heading off with suitcases on the cobbled streets.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We even got upgraded to the master suit in a real cave, which was very beautiful.
The only thing is that the cave (as you can expect) is quite damp. You can feel the strong smell to humid and the bed sheets and pillows feel damp during the evening. But it was a great experience nevertheless.
Very central location. Atmosphere well suited to the town of Matera.
