Renato and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. We stayed at many hotels on our trip and this was by far the best. Renato added such a personal touch to our stay; meeting us on the street so we didn't get lost, telling where to go and not go, and even modifying my trip to Vatican city so that I had enough time to see everything. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The location was perfect, near everything but slightly off the busy streets so that it was quiet and comfortable. There are 4 locked doors between the room and the streets, so that you feel very secure. Not that it's a bad neighborhood but when you are in a new place it is nice to feel secure. Lastly the hotel has a wonderful smell, sometimes the little things show the quality of a place. I would definitely stay again. Thanks for everything!
The hotel is in a great location to see the sights of Rome as it is close to both Metro lines and bus stops. It's nice to have the breakfast brought to the room in the morning. The AC worked, which is important in the July and the wireless was fast. The owner was helpful with directions and advice.
The check-in process was frustrating. The Cernaia is not manned 24/7, and so they calculate your time of arrival to the hotel for two hours after your flight lands - which is a huge overestimate. It took us an hour to get from Ciampano on the shuttle bus with a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to get to the hotel, and we arrived 10 minutes before the time I originally gave to them. Instead of taking into account the time I gave, they stuck with their calculation, which left us stranded in the hot sun, on the street, with no idea what to do. We finally got ahold of Renato, who told us his assistant would be there shortly - but it's quite disappointing that, although they said they are usually there 30 minutes before arrival, we got stuck on the street. It was a really not the ideal way to start the vacation. While the hotel did make up for it by not having us pay the first night (the arrival confusion, topped with the dirty towels still in the shower), it was still disappointing to show up after a flight and bus ride and not be able to check in and have no idea what to do except wait outside. The owner and his assistant said they calculate two hours to get from the airport to the hotel, and to avoid being stuck outside, I would maybe fudge the arrival time a bit to ensure someone is there to check you in to your room. There's really nothing worse than starting off your vacation this way! Oh - and if you get the recommendation to eat at Da Vincenzo, around the corner from the hotel, don't do it!! It was the worst meal we had in Rome!
Renato and his assistant were really helpful and gave great advice on where to go, when to go and the best places to buy tickets. Renato saved us a great deal of time waiting in the massive Colosseum queue by advising us to go to the adjacent Palatine Hill first, buy tickets for there which includes entrance to the Colosseum and then go to the Colosseum afterwards. Listen to his advice, it is invaluable. Continental breakfast was great (extra cappuccinos on request) and served in our room which proved to be large and comfortable. Location just a short 10 minute walk from the railway station but the sign for the hotel is just a very small inscription at the bottom of a large brass plaque so look carefully and I advise to have a good idea of the general whereabouts of the hotel; it is near the end of via Cernaia on the right hand side coming from the Termini station. It is on the 2nd floor of a large 5 storey building.
There was nothing we disliked, we were very comfortable and were made to feel very welcome.
Helpful and friendly host, clean, good value for the money, close to the train termini station is a safe part of Rome.
The staff was on point, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. The room was clean, cozy, modern, and in an excellent spot in the city. Love the old roman charm. We were very impressed and will most likely stay there again on our next visit to Rome.
Helpful and accommodating host Spotlessly clean Although not at the centre of town, within easy walking distance of a metro station and most major attractions.
Breakfast could have been better but considering the price of the room, it was a wonder breakfast was even included.
