Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic center. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.
Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.
For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

The view from the Giotto Campanile was great, but you have to walk a lot of stairs for it.
If you like walking you might also want to try going to Fiesole on foot.
By booking the museums online they made me pay extra, but I ended up getting there early and finding out there was no line (Jannuary) and that I could enter an hour earlier...
I really liked to eat at Osteria Nuvoli, very cheap and very good, compared to some tourist traps I found where everything cost double and they would frown if you didn't order extra bullshit.

Florence is just amazing.
Florence is just amazing. So many of the world's greatest pieces of art/culture/architecture all in the one place.
That also means lots and lots of tourists - can make walking about on the narrow pavements tricky and can also mean the nights are a bit noisy in places.
Get up early to take advantage of the city at it's best and always book ahead!

The city is full of culture and history. and there are plenty of things to do. Also, it's a great place to learn Italian. In fact, it is the only Italian city on the list, which makes our city the most beautiful of Italy.

Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance.
Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance. We took a walking tour on first day (via booking.com) and this was very insightful. We spent 3 nights in Florence and 2 nights in Venice. In hindsight, I would have spent 2 nights in Florence and 3 in Venice

Florence is a great city to visit - I recommend going to the Boboli Gardens and the Bardini Gardens (entry can cover both, the Bardini gardens are much less busy and better views), getting tickets in advance for the museums you are interested in (can't really not do Uffizi), and spending a day eating Gelatos and walking around the side streets to find all the hidden art. We forgot to buy museum tickets in advance but got to the Academia at 7.50am and were one of first people in (opens at 8.15am)... it gets busy real quick. Walking up to Michelangelo Piazza is a good trek and can see why it is recommended at sunset. The church at the top is worth exploring (witb a stunning cemetary you can walk around).
In general, watch your bags! Bring a front wearing one and be aware of the crowds - we nearly got targeted!
Tram from Florence airport is really straight forward and quick (20min), and the train to Pisa is also very easy (and cheap - very different from the UK!).
We had a super meal in a restaurant round the corner from our hotel called Grotto di Leo - and we had a fantastic Sunday brunch at the Central Market
I can't imagine a better location. The hotel is located in the main plazza in Florence. The most famous historical placed that we wanted to visit were a 5 minute walk. It was great having two bedrooms. We stayed in the penthouse, and the views were spectaccular of the Palazzo Vechhio and the rest of Florence. Florence was really hot, but the hotel had the BEST AIR CONDITIONING, which is not common in Italy. I wish I knew the name of the woman working at the receptions desk. She was incredibly kind and helpful.
the area in Florence is perfect!!!!!it’s close to everything but away from crowd. Best breakfast in Italy w excellent service!!!!!it’s like a private village w a small church next to hotel. Very spacious and comfortable ❤️it’s the only hotel in Italy where they have someone at door to greet you or recommend places to go(very nice)
The restaurant next door Trattoria Del Horto was a perfect recommendation for 2 dinners in Florence. We found a nice sandwich shop(Luneta)towards the town square perfect for lunch
We chose this hotel for it's location away from the historic center of Florence and for the facilities. It was a great decision. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful and the facility lived up to the pictures (for a change!) which included a wonderful breakfast each morning. 20 minutes walk to the Florence's main attractions, was a lovely way to start each day. Overall a wonderful week in Florence and our best holiday in Italy to date.
This was one of the best hotels I've been in Italy. Walking distance from the city center with parking on-site. Extremely comfortable rooms and beds. The indoor pool and rooftop bar were perfect. Booking the rooftop Jacuzzi at an extra cost with a bottle of prosecco was totally worth it. In particular because by change we booked it at sunset. If my kids and I are ever in Florence again, we are definitely staying in this hotel again.
Direct walk from the train station. Easy to find. Direct line to Ponte Vecchio, Academia, and Uffizi. Easy walk to Santa Croce. Louise is an amazing person who knows Florence and other parts of Italy and is always ready to answer questions and give you the best suggestions. This is a place I recommend to my friends and family. This hotel is the only one I choose now.
This is an Art and Design hotel where every details of the aesthetic is very well curated. Having previously lived in Italy for over a decade I was very impressed with how well the unit had been remolded to become an upscale and modern design hotel. Our room was very cute, and i felt the visual details, as well as comfort of the furniture was taken care of. Loved it!
the hotel is really very good. room clean, even bed and towel was changed daily. very close to the center of Florence on foot. nice staff. The croissants and sweet snacks for breakfast were the best of any hotel I've been to in Italy. The air conditioning in the room is noisy but works. There was plenty of space in the gated parking lot.
Amazing! A room with a balcony in the historic centre of Florence. The room was very nice, beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We travelled around Italy. This b&b was much better than a tree star hotel in Rome. The hotel is very well located. The train station is almost across the street. I recommend this hotel by heart.
The hotel is my favorite one during the trip in Italy. Good location to all the tourists sites and also quiet to sleep. The apartment is well-decorated and all the furniture is elegant and beautiful. And the staff here is very friendly and considerate. I will choose this place for staying if I will go to Florence next time.
Best breakfast during our trip in Italy. Location is great. It’s easy to go to main tourist spots. And more than anything, Giulia is an amazing hostess. Friendly and helpful. She gave us a list of recommendations of restaurants, bars, and even supermarkets. If coming to Florence again, FuordArno must be the first choice.
The entire staff was welcoming. Felt like home. Great breakfast. And the front desk host was very helpful with everything I needed. She recommended some great restaurants and mapped out my outings. It was fun like going on a treasure hunt through the streets of Florence. What a wonderful stay on my first trip to Italy.
Although it was not in the heart of Florence the new tram running between the airport and the centre makes it a great location and it is only about a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. The bed and pillows were about the most comfortable we had in our 5 weeks in Italy. Would definitely stay there again!
Hotel is beautiful and the oldest hotel in Italy. stunning junior suite and proposed to my girlfriend there. staff are exceptional you feel like the most important person there. location is perfect to see Florence and the restaurants are all in close range. thank you so much for a perfect stay. ❤️🖤
in this hotel you really feel in ITALy and in Florence, with authentic italian building, nice people. you do no t feel you are in an international anonymous hotel... Detail, this a direct bus to https://www.dariocecchini.com/?lang=en , 100 meter away from the hotel...
We stayed in 8 different hotels/guesthouses in Italy over 3.5 weeks and this was by far the best value for money stop on our trip. Great facilities on site, with a very good restaurant for dinner. Excellent spot for families and couples
I would say this is my best hotel for my Italy trip. First, the staff explain and recommend everything that you can explore in Florence including places and foods. The air-conditioning in the room is just good during the summer.
Lovely place on the top of a hill looking over Florence. Staff amazing and very accommodating making sure we had a taxi at 5am for the airport. Everything is luxurious. Restaurant was one of the best meals we had in Italy.
Everything! Location, facility, comfort and cleanliness. Nicola at the reception is a great asset to this hotel. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoy our trip in Italy (not only in Florence)
The hotel is super new, the staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are huge with high ceilings, breakfast is delicious and the mattress/pillows were the best we had in our 20 days trip to Italy!
