The staff was not friendly. We have been in italy for 2 weeks and are home sick for the states because the italians in the hospitality industry are rude. They act like they are doing you a favor and forget how difficult and expensive it is to travel abroad.

Location. We stayed three nights in high season. (1) Staff was rude and lazy. They acted like they had no interest in their guests. In late August, they tried to send us to a restaurant without first calling to confirm that it was open. They also didn't write down the name and addresses of restaurants unless requested. A manager laughed at me -- actually laughed out loud -- when I asked if the hotel had a gym. What four-star hotel in a major city doesn't have a gym? Getting responses to other questions was like pulling teeth. (2) a lot of street noise early in the morning and late at night. (3) Decor is overdone and has seen better days. Mirrors around the bed -- tacky. (4) We had to request bathrobes and soft pillows!

Staff was extremely rude at times. My wife and I returned to our room one afternoon to find one of our windows wide open and the shutters open too. Outside this window was a balcony which ran down the length of the building and could be accessed by a number of other rooms as well as a window that was on a common hallway. The safe in the room is tiny and could not hold a computer our many other valuables we had purchased so we were very disappointed that the cleaning staff left our room open and unsecure for virtually anybody to access it. When I brought it to the hotel front desk's attention the guy's reply was, and I quote, "The room was broken into or had the potential to be broke into?" Are you kidding me?! Is this the level of common courtesy and common sense that guests are entitled to while paying Euro175 per night??? In fact we did discover stuff missing once we returned home, but unfortunately did not find that out while we were there. Extremely disappointing, I would stay away from this hotel at all costs!!

The location was close to everything. Within a minute you are at the forum. Restaurants are everywhere. We walked to the train station but if you have luggage to haul you will need a taxi for a short drive. It takes just a few minutes to walk to the river and the castle. Shopping is everywhere. On our first day we caught the open red bus for a tour of the city and beyond. The second day we caught the bus to Lake Garda and Simione which was well worth it. The third day we leisurely walked the whole "old" city, toured the castle, visited churches, walked along the river, and saw everything we wanted. The hotel was amazing. The staff were very helpful in telling us the layout of the city and spoke English very well. Our room was awesome. We had a turn down service every night. We had a huge marbled bathroom, a walk in closet with ample drawers and hanging space. It was very quiet. The foyer is beautiful with walls and ceiling covered in murals. The hotel was extremely clean. There is a bar and cozy room for evening drinks and facilities for business meetings or conferences. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast with the addition of eggs, bacon and sausages. Very good. There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel. From our experience I would recommend it to everyone.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city very close to the Arena or you can say Its in the Arena itself and shopping and food all close by to the hotel. The hotel is a old style Italian hotel with modern facilities, amazing hotel to stay if you wanna stay at the arena, I loved it and would stay there again when I visit verona.

The location was fantastic ! 3 minutes walk from Arena. Breakfast was also nice, and staff at the Hotel was very friendly. 1) Because of the season (Opera at the Arena), the price was extreamly high..... 2) noise from the drain (from upper floor) was bad.... 3) Wi-fi was not free of charge although the price of accommodation was expensive.

It was my 5th stay in Colomba d'Oro, the second in the last two years. The fair attention of the staff and the confort (and cleaness) of the rooms are really constant - and my special requests (health conditions) on meals have been fully answered.

“The hotel is beautiful and the service excellent. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. It is perfectly located in the center of Verona, walking distance from everything a tourist wants to see. For wine lovers, it's only a 30 minutes drive from Valpolicella wine area. We certainly would stay there again should we go back to this part of Italy.” Lucie, New York |
