Hotel Columbus  

Convenient to the Vatican area and shopping. It is not new and modern and fits with the area. The staff were very helpful. It is in close proximity to the many small cafes in the Vatican area that have very good food and reasonable prices. Breakfast was included. It wasn't a great breakfast but it was easy and very convenient,

No air conditioning. We did not really need it but I would not stay in the summer for that reason.

The location was ideal, being being close to St. Peter's and the Vatican Museum. Also, public transportation and a tourist information office were a short stroll away. The hotel itself had a wonderful atmosphere and, although the individual rooms were quite basic, the decor in the common areas and dining room were quite impressive. We particularly loved the enclosed outdoor patio garden/restaurant.

There was nothing we didn't like about the hotel. We would definitely stay there again, although next time I would request a room on the garden side rather than the street side.

The location and history of the hotel were worth the price. The Vatican is just up the street.

The elevator and the showers are narrow if that is a concern.

It was close to the vatican

The room was dingy, dank and dark. the shower was in the toilet, literally. the staff was discourteous and non involved.

A beautiful old hotel, the hotel itself being located in a former cardinals palace was very sumptuous but the rooms were a little small and tired. Staff were efficient without being over friendly. The location was perfect.

Calm and relaxed

30 seconds walk to the Vatican City, free parking and above all a very warm historical building in the heart of rome...no bad for business trip!

Very good location close to Vatican and a number of fascilities like Colosseum, Forum Romana, Fontani Di Trevi etc etc in 20 minutes walking distance. Garden seems nice, but we did not use it since it was wintertime. Parking inside inner yard a real big plus and a must if you arrive by car. We spent New years eve at the Hotel Restaurant. Absoulutely first class and very good service, expensive of course.

Breakfast poor, and charged 15 € each. On the other hand, the whole Roma is a turist trap, we tried to find cheaper breakfast in surroundings one morning, and ended up with 20 € for two coffe and two croissonts, in that perspective, even the breakfast at Columbus was reasonable.

Great historical building, 100 meters from St Peter's Square. Friendly staff, and very quiet considering the location on the main road leading to the Vatican. Very comfortable bed, and air-conditioning. No better option or location for a Vatican overnight stay.

Room furnishings are outdated, dingy carpet, obvious wear and tear. Room was indicated as non-smoking, yet had an ash-tray and complementary matches. Shower fixture sprayed in all directions, including the ceiling whose water stains indicated this was not a new problem. Room rate did not include breakfast, yet they offered to add it for an additional 15 euro at check-in. I declined and walked next door to a cafe for a 5 euro breakfast, Italian style. For the price of the room, breakfast should be included.

Upea rakennus. On mykistävää syödä aamiaista vanhojen kattomaalauksien alla. Myös sisäpiha oli kaunis appelsiinipuineen ja suihkulähteineen. Vaikka ikkunamme oli kadulle päin, meteli ei kuulunut sisälle lainkaan. Sijainti on ensiluokkainen: hotellilta tuntuu olevan kävelymatka joka paikkaan.

Lattian ja nurkat olisi saanut siivota vähän tarkemmin.

Das Hotel Columbus liegt wirklich direkt am Petersdom, es gibt praktisch nur ein Haus dazwischen. Von hier aus kann man alles sehr gut zu Fuß ablaufen. Klar ist es anstrengend zwischendurch, aber das ist so ein Städteurlaub doch immer. Sehr freundliches Personal, das Frühstück ist allerdings etwas überteuert mit 15 Euro P.P. Es gibt nur Formschinken und eine Sorte Käse als pikante Auswahl. Alles andere ist süß oder Cornflakes. Allerdings war der Rest dann sehr umfangreich. Das Hotel war anscheinend mal ein Kloster wurde aber wirklich toll hergerichtet. Es lohnt sich....
