Staff amazing, really helpful, in fact they couldn't do enough for us. Our room was spotless and large with a big terrace overlooking the sea. We highly recommended this hotel.
We did feel that €15 for our dog (having only been charged a maximum of €5 per stay so far) was too expensive. There is also a €12 charge for parking and we think these prices should be shown on booking.com at the point of booking.
The classic old hotel that has it all: good service, great location in a nice town of St. Margherita, views to the sea. The breakfast deserves a separate line - very delicious and varied!
I didn't like that I had to pay for parking, think it should be included in the price.
Strategic position to discover very nice towns in the italian riviera like Chiavari, Portofino, Sestri, Cinqueterre. And of course beautiful cities like Genova or Milano
location, room, cleanliness, very helpful and friendly staff (except the lady who was supervising the gym), food, comfortable bed, large bathroom
breakfast could be improved (with fresh pastries or fruit for example)
The staff were wonderful, very professional and friendly. The location, views, and grounds were spectacular. The hotel was nicely maintained and the room was very clean. We really enjoyed the terrace off our room which had a fabulous view.
The breakfast was below our expectations for a hotel of this level. The bathroom needs to be updated... Get rid of the ugly 1970's tile! You can hear everything from the connecting door to the next room which is very annoying.
Terrace overlooking the sea as an upgrade. What could be better?
We got a free upgrade on our room We got given a free bottle of bubbly on arrival Staff were really friendly and helpful Location was fantastic and the views from the terrace and our room were absolutely wonderful!
The wifi was absolutely terrible in our room on the third floor but maybe this was because we were on the top floor. We didn't complain about this because we decided that we were on holiday to get away from the Internet and this didn't spoil our wonderful stay at all.
Excellent location & room, very friendly staff, 10/10.
Valet parking ocean view room great breakfast Easy to find Close to the train station for Cinque Terre Close to the port for boat to Portofino Easy walk to the center of Santa Marquerita
The hotel has a dreamlike landscape and gardens. The staff were very helpful and polite.lf you want to feel yourself in mansion you should go to this hotel.Grazie mille.
There is nothing to say.
The rooms in the main building are very comfortable with recently updated bathrooms. The staff were very helpful. The view from the sea view room was excellent.
We were initially given a room over the covered car park in which we could easily hear the neighboring room. The manager moved us without fuss. Our dog was not allowed in the restaurant.
Was a bit of a hike going back late at night.
Poor breakfast and wifi connection.
location, views, staff, room service, cleanness
WiFi is very sluggish . Breakfast does not have many options. charges for car parking.
great location, fantastic view from the restaurant's terrase, nice beach
Location was great- a short walk to the charming town and the train station. Nice view from room and excellent restaurant. Very helpful staff.
...that we were not there longer!
Beautifully kept terraced gardens leading down to the hotels own bathing patio by the sea. Superb view.
Having to pay for car parking is wrong. Parking should be free when an on-site car park is available.
Me and my sister were staying in the HC 2 nights. we got an amazing room with the garden :) very much enjoyed the HC Beach :) Fabulous views over the beautiful HC gardens, sea, the town and the marina.
where to start....? Location: snuggled up against and overlooking the great blue sea... Grounds: simply magnificent.... well tended gardens and paths sloping down the cliffs towards the sea! Rooms: a variety of rooms to suit every taste, many with wonderful views of the Mediterranean Breakfast: Varied and good buffet, attentive and friendly staff, ......and the view from the balcony...unbelievable, what a way to start your day!! Swimming and sunbathing: Hotel has its own small, heavenly, section of the Mediterranean coast, direct access to the sea, closest thing to a natural swimming pool that I have ever seen...just swim out into the clear waters of the bay if you want. and yet part of the "pool" is shallow enough for a four-year old to stand in...it is not a sandy beach though.... it is rocky promontories that have been modified and "smoothed out" into perfect sunbathing platforms that give you easy access to the sea...
...that I didn't discover this place earlier in my life...
The hotel is in a prime position overlooking the gulf of portofino. The rooms, view , service were of a very high standard infant absolutely brilliant! Was going to stay in Portofino but do glad we chose to stay in Santa Margharita - so much nicer overall ! Portofino is great for a drink and maybe dinner but had nothing else to offer except very high prices !
The location in Santa Margherita Ligure was perfect. Away from road noise but easy walking to town. The views from our balcony were fantastic. Definitely ask for a seaview room. The staff and the hotel itself was perfect.
The location is superb. Wonderful to enjoy the med, the views, the boats. Life is more than just an Internet connection!!
Wifi was pathetic.
Not much of anything concerning food and food service. It was a disgrace to whomever has invested a good deal of money into this hotel. Dining facilities were quite good.
In a reasonably elegant dining room, staff was casual and indifferent and seemed not to understand good service. For a dinner salad, diners were directed to a "salad bar", which consisted of 4 or 5 skimpy small bowls of (a) lettuce, (b) shredded carrots, (c) maybe tomatoes (can't recall now) and maybe (d) arugula. Frankly a comical display ... we were tempted to take a photo (sorry we didn't). Menu unattractive, so ordered steak (can't recall how it was titled in the menu ... but it was attractive). What arrived was thinly sliced "cube steak" ... fatty, small and thin. Terrible and a disgrace to the hotel. We'll avoid Hotel Continental in the future.
