Everything! Staff couldn't care less, not at all helpful and could never locate the manager. Our shower was barely warm but staff couldnt get it fixed and no offer of a room change. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room and you couldnt even purchase a drink on site. Even a vending machine would have been a great idea. Staff couldnt tell you where a coffee shop or restuarant was located. Long walk to any facilities. Our bed was two singles pushed together and the single very old blankets layered across the bed - the staff told us "this is how they make beds all round the world"! Take your own toilet paper - the stuff they provide disintegrates in your hand even before you use it. The drains in the bathroom smell rank. The place is very noisy - long corridors with doors that slam shut and the noise echoes through out the place. Everyones voice echos and is very loud. Outside rooms are noisy due to the busy road out side. Dont be fooled by the photos - the place needs a jolly good paint and the court yard needs a real makeover - this area could be just the place after a long day of sight seeing but it needs some work on it. The Catholic Church owns the place and it could be a delightful historic place if they spent some money on it and actually realised this is no longer a monsestry for nuns and monks who have taken a vow of poverty but a hotel with paying customers
Quiet area, close enough to walk to the sights of Florence and restaurant areas.
Car parking was a little difficult.
The building is just wonderful... you even pass through a prayer corridor on the way to breakfast... you can imaging the monks chanting as you walk between the parallel pews leading your way.
The room itself was comfortable but a little spartan... perhaps as you might have expected the monks live.
Breakfast Staff Building Garden Cleanliness
historic building, location, lovely atmosphere, staff welcoming and helpful, hotel much better than photos suggest, good breakfast.
Had everything we needed. Nothing fancy but very practical. Breakfast was great, nutritional.
It was very nice place to stay. Location is excellent, nice and friendly staff. Liked a lot simplicity of the rooms: you have what you need. It is a city hotel. Good breakfast selection. Our room was nearby the elevator. It was quiet!!! And fantastic chapel! You have a feeling of staying in old, real Florence. We booked 3 nights and on our way back decided to stay in the same hotel. Good neighborhood, not overloaded with tourists. Appriciated a lot nearby places to eat: good prices, excellent food. Just behind Porta Romano you will find Cafe Petrarca (you need to cross the road, bus stop nearby it) which is excellent place for lunch or aperetive (and amazing coffe!), and pizzeria Antica Porta just few steps away (a taste of local life, excellent pizza, great fish dish of the day, fantastic house vine and dolce!).
Some might complain about thin walls. Sometimes we could here our neighbors, when the window in their bathroom was opened and our closed :) Neverthelss it did not bother us.
Wonderful stay all aspects including a lift
The breakfast and staff were very helpful. The grounds and chapel were peaceful and restful. It's position for the city was good with a bus outside, and it was quiet.
Good breakfasts, friendly and helpful staff, big bathroom, good wi-fi connection.
Old noisy conditioner, little bit far from the city center.
The staff were nice and breakfast was good, especially for the price we paid. The place is pleasant and quiet. We particularly appreciated it as Florence is a very busy, crowded and noisy city.
It is a bit far away from the city centre, but some would say it is a good thing.
Breakfast - fresh and delicious Staff - friendly, kind, helpful Atmosphere - peaceful Location - a short walk away from the main attractions, good coffee shops nearby - a wonderful haven to return to after a day in the crowds of Firenze.
The feel of the place was very "convent like" and tranquil. Bare necessities in rooms, very clean and breakfast on site. Staff super professional and helpful.
The walk to center was about a half hour.
Clean and efficient, building on the heritage of a convent
Too far away from city Tiny room for the price
Easy, though expensive parking.
Overall lack of making you feel comfortable.
Very Nice and patient personel.
The court yard looked a little run down. It definately needs a paint job.
i like the hotel location. the lady at the reception was very very kind and helpful. the garden was very quite and sitting there is a big enjoyment.
the rooms were very simple, small , and old. the 2 long corridors were kind of creepy. one of the man at the reception in night shift was very rude, he sent me very rude mail at midnight when i was changing the reservation, and was not helpful at all when we arrive.
Great location. Beautiful courtyard area. Good breakfast
Location, setting, affordability
Staff was excellent except for one night, we came at 1.00 am, the main gate was closed and the personel who opened was rude and unfriendly.. Saying "this is a religious building".. Other than that it was great
Breakfast Patio Bathroom 7 minutes to Pitti Museum
Noise from the road Shabby walls Mosquitos Size of the sleeping room Price
Perfect location, lovely building
The simpathy of the personal stuff, special at breakfast which was very good. The location vs price:very good
On the last day arrived a group of school adollescents.the teachers stood on another wing of rooms sleaping all night and it was hell and impossible to sleap all Night in our wing because of noise and kids running at the corridor
The breakfast was simple yet enough. It was a half hour walk to Ponte Vecchio
It was a very Small room. Very minimalist but even a bar fridge would have been nice for storing drinks or snacks. The shower was very small in space (i am petite size but my elbows hit the enclosure washing my hair), walls were paper thin... I could hear the chap snoring in the next door room as well as their full daily routine and conversations. The beds were very hard.
-quiet -close to bus station (direct lines from the train station)
-the windows are difficult to open
The hospitality and cleanliness.
No fridge and no tea kettle.
