Everything else! For a European style moderate price hotel, you couldn't find a better location in Pompeii, and the staff was very pleasant.
The breakfast was mostly dessert-type things, no bread, and the juice was watered down.
The room was fine . The food was excellent we ate there every night for 4 nights on the terrace . The food was lovely and the staff very attentive and friendly. Have no doubts in recommending this hotel to anyone. The breakfast was good too .The location couldn't have been better for visiting Pompeii.
Very large room with views on balcony of Mt. Vesuvius & coastal mountains on other side. A feeling of spaciousness throughout building which is often lacking in many accommodation types.
Conveniently located across the street from Pompei ruins. Near good restaurants and beautiful town plaza and Basilica.
The only windows in our room opened up to an outdoor restaurant. The noise from the restaurant went on until very late into the night. Not much sleep.
Great Pizza, the best in Italy! Comfortable rooms with very friendly staff. A great central location with a nice restaurant.
the hot water pressure was very low
We loved that it was so close to the Pompei ruins, which was our primary reason for going there. I had chosen this hotel for that reason, and the fact that it was economical for our budgets. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they all spoke some English, which was good because my travel companion had no Italian at all. The waiting staff were attentive, the food was good, plentiful and cheap! It was my birthday while we were there, and they made a big fuss, which was just lovely, with complimentary birthday cake and sparkling wine to accompany it. I couldn't speak more highly of this hotel.
Close to town & ruins, very comfortable & clean. Great value for money
Wi fi not great in room
I really liked to visit Pompeij! Definitely worth to visit! But I would never stay at Hotel del Sole, I don't understand that it gets a 8,0 score. I'm not really demanding, but this was really beneath standard.
Our room was next to the main road. This is an old stone road and because of this the traffic that passes by is very very loud. All night long, incidental traffic was waking us up. If you do decide to stay: DO NOT ask for Pompeij/Vesuvius view, because it is not worth it because of the loudness of the street and you can't really see anything because of trees. Even so you don't want to sit on the balcony. The bed was very bad as well, you could feel all the springs in the mattress. Awfull... The breakfast was very poor: awful coffee, 2days old bread and an variety of overly sweet cakes.
Great location as it was situated opposite the ruins, close to an entrance and near the town. We found that we where not bothered by noise from the street. Meals in the restaurant, where good, with good options and their freshly made pizza's where really tasty.
The first room we where offered was not what we had been told we where having as it didn't have a balcony, however there was no trouble changing to a different one.
Location, Kindness of receptionist and a man in the front of the hotel, fair price for accommodation
Breakfast was terrible - choice of food was poor, the bread was at least 2 days old, the waiters were not friendly. When we mentioned our experience with the breakfast to the receptionist, she began to arguing with us that it is not like as we say and that the bread is fresh because they have pizzeria and they prepare fresh bread all the times.
In nice quiet street but close to ruins.Clean rooms, adequate breakfast..Excellent staff, friendly and spoke good English.Good choices on Restaurant menu.
A bit of a walk from train ,street not suitable for wheelchairs but there are taxis at bottom of hill.
We picked this hotel because it is across the road from main entrance to excavations and restaurants and other sights. Very convenient. Good and clean. Not a great selection for breakfast. Has parking free for guests which is very good. Would recommend if the purpose of visit is touring old Pompei and the excavations.
Breakfast not so great.
The welcome to the hotel was very good. Secure parking. Proximity to the ruins and also the main square and the basilica.
Breakfast was fine but the service from the male waiting staff was very poor and lacking in professional conduct.
It was so close to the Historical pompeii site. We could just walk across the road to the entrance.
On the first night we were awake all night by someone's door banging and no one came to close it. Breakfast is great if you like cakes. I think their should be more savoury options
Waiters brought requested breakfast cereal and soy milk. Loved the floor tiles - very ancient Pompei.
No extra pillows supplied. Requested these and one had a hole in and stuffing was coming out - nevertheless the hotel was very good value
Very helpful staff and secure parking. We left the car for an extra E3 until 1pm. The hotel was opposite the 2nd entrance to the Pompeii ruins. There was a resturant in the hotel and plenty of other places to eat within walking distance. Kids highlight was breakfast traditional Italian breakfast of cake, cold meats and pizza. Rooms were clean. We had front room with balcony and view.
Leaving - would have been good to have stayed another night.
The hotel was 1km from train station which you made travelling to Naples and Sorrento really easy. Hotel is just over the road from a quieter entrance to Pompeii ruins. The new town of Pompei very nice and lively on Sunday evenings. Our room was very clean and had air con that came in handy on hot days. Breakfast ok.
Our room was on the 2nd floor, no view of ruins from here. The noise from the road made sleeping very difficult you may want to try ear plugs if have a room on the front of the hotel.
Convenient and priced right, close to the ruins of Pompeii.
Bed wasn't the most comfortable and staff was a bit intrusive when my sister needed to use the washroom (she wasn't saying with me) and also when my friend (who also wasn't staying with me wanted to come up to my room for a moment, both had to leave their documents (e.g. passport, drivers license) at the front desk. Also the bathroom had a funny smell and there were gnats.
Wi-fi Location... Nice balcony! Enjoyed Pompeii ruins and Vesuvius..well worth the experience. Restaurants.... Mmmm? Where do I start? Caffe Empire, the food was disgusting. I asked for a salad and got a pile of lettuce leaves! We had a grilled steak ( pork or veal not sure which) and that was disgusting as well. It was just a grilled piece of fat. Caffe Kenon, the food was ok but cold. The menu was advertised as 12 euros +1.50 euros service charge = 27euros for two people but when it came to paying we were charged 32 euros in total.
The breakfast unless you like cake! The 'towels' were just tea- towels and cotton blankets to get dried on. The beds were uncomfortable and only one pillow was provided. I went to pay the bill of 128 euros for 2 nights and when I got to reception I was informed by the receptionist that the hotel had taken 79 euros from my credit card 2 days prior to our arrival in case of a 'no show' I queried this and I was told the 79 euros would take 2 weeks to go back into my account. In the meantime I still had to pay the full amount although I asked if I could pay the difference Would not go back to this hotel.
Anna was very helpful on reception. speaks very good English. The rooms were very comfortable with aircon and Wi-Fi.
The staff in the restaurant were rude. We had dinner in the restaurant and was not very happy with it
Location and staff
Mouldy shower - noise level was beyond belief so no sleep for two days - no bar fridge for bottled water- not even a spare toilet roll - no bathroom storage - cramped and tiny -
it is in the city square
there is a bell noise from the church every hour
Great family run hotel with parking....met and guided in by a lovely Fella wearing a fab Quentin Crisp hat and jaunty neck scarf! Restaurant on site with good, reasonably priced food. Breakfast not fantastic, but absolutely fine, and the entrance to the Pompei ruins literally across the road. Very handy.
Got up a little late so only caught the brekkie dregs. Top....get up early to eat well!
Staff was extremely helpful and life saver when we were lost in Naples trying to find way to the hotel. The hotel is literally 5 min walk to the Pompeii ruins and another 5 min to town, very convenient.
Very near to Pompei remains Staffs are very kind Car parking with gate
