Opened in 1308, the Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo is one of the oldest hotels in Venice. It is set right behind St. Mark's Square, and features elegant rooms and a private pier.
Score from 1471 reviews Good
great room with a view, friendly staff, updated bathroom, rooftop "honesty" bar
warped floor, no wall for a shower
Location was nice, close from both San Marco square and Rialto bridge. The room, bed and bathroom was big enough and loved the elegant antique interior. The staffs was friendly and professional. Wifi was very fast and the IDs were given to each guests. There is an elevator.
The floor got wet after taking the shower as there were no shower curtain. The river in the front of the hotel got flooded on the morning of the day of our departure. The staff was nice to give us free plastic bags to wear so that we can walk over the flooded street, but it was better if they had plastic boots cover (the one sold on the street) as we could only walk for 10 meters with the plastic bags.
Location is close to S. Marco boat station and S. Marco square. Everything is quite near. Restaurants and attractiveness. Hotel team was very helpful even we arrived in s midnight. Wifi speed and connection was ok. Bed is convenient, it wasn't cold in the room during the night. Good experience
Sound protection needs to be improved. Of course, the building itself wasn't new, but sound proof doors can help. Breakfast could provide more choises but, in general, it was ok.
STAFF WAS VERY QUICK TO RESPOND TO A PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED AND SOLVE IT -
WAS NOT SPARKLING CLEAN
Charming small hotel with tasteful decoration, friendly staff and great location!
Breakfast buffet the same everyday, we where expecting a bit more traditional Italian breakfast.
Large spacious room with elegant decor. Pretty roof terrace with honesty bar, and a good breakfast. Would have lived a view of the canal but was an extra cost.
Too noisy to leave the windows open. Wifi signal was poor
location cleanliness big room central position wifi free
breakfast is a bit poor
A great Team, very Respectable, went out of their way to make sure Everything was Perfect, From Arrival, Helping with information, Directions and Final Departure.
Friendly, (generally) well-informed staff. The location was absolutely fantastic. The room was very clean and we liked being tucked away on the third floor. The honesty bar was a nice touch - they even took my drink off the bill!
The room was a little bit smaller than expected, with no proper shower.
Spacious room with canal view Breakfast included Very nice and helpful staff Honesty Bar on the roof Well-maintained facilities Easy access to Vaporetto and everything!
Bathrooms are tight spaces Canal activity can be very loud in the night/morning
I still would recommend this hotel because some of the staff was helpful & friendly. Our room was quite large & clean & good breakfast
some of the front desk staff was not helpful & our key didn't work each day & needed an electrician
hearing Gondoliers singing as they sail by every evening being so close to all main areas
breakfast room is small and may have to wait for table (but not long)
We had a spacious room with a small balcony overlooking the canal. The location was excellent with easy access to St. Mark's Square. Reception desk employee, Giovanni, was most helpful.
Not a thing!
In a word the staff at Hotel Dell'Opera was exceptional. From the moment we stepped foot into the contemporary old world lobby we were pampered. This Hotel could not do enough for you. Our room had an old world charm and the bath was classic Itialian modern. Both were very gerorous in size. The location is perfect, close to all transportation and Saint Marc's Square. Our water taxi was able to drop us at the front door and we lost no time at all. You are in the perfect area to explore Venice and we suggest that you do! We will tell everyone we know how impressive this hotel is. The nights are safe and the neighborhood is quite eclectic and fun. Yes we reccommend the Hotel Dell"Opera, it is a must! Location and breakfast
Room to much close of the breakfast room.
Very central. Staff were very helpful.
No tea & Coffee although when I asked if there was a kettle, they brought up hot water etc (& biscuits) at no charge. Breakfast room too small for the hotel so people having to wait or sit separately.
A fantastically restored building in a great location in the city. Very individual period rooms, great staff and a small rooftop terrace with an honesty bar add up to a really excellent place to stay.
Great location, staff friendly and helpfull, spotlessly clean.
Location, staff, breakfast
Beds, bedding, sit-down shower
excellent location, staff extremely attentive with great restaurant recommendations, spotlessly clean rooms, loved the rooftop bar
Beautiful view of the canal, delicious breakfast and overall excellent hotel
Lovely roof terrace with honesty bar. Great room with terrace
Small reception area
Wonderful location. The staff were great. They are happy people.
Very difficult to find. Very tiny street off a canal bridge that has no signage directing you to the hotel.
