Hotel Rivage is in a panoramic position in the center of Sorrento, overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The port and the station are just a short walk away.

Enjoy breakfast in the garden surrounded by orange and lemon trees at Casa Dominova. This delightful B&B is right in the heart of Sorrento.
Score from 67 reviews Very good
Hotel La Tonnarella is an oasis of peace, located on a cliff in one of the most panoramic settings in Sorrento. Guests can enjoy beautiful sea views and a private beach.
Score from 346 reviews Very good
Casarufolo Paradise is in Sorrento, a 15 minute walk from the center. It features a panoramic terrace with views of Mount Vesuvius, free parking and a free shuttle to/from the city center.
Score from 124 reviews Good
Good sea views. Staff were very helpful with booking tours & transport.
Maintence issues, sticking doors, broken handrail, shower faucet hard to operate & cracked tiles. No elevator. WiFi reception in room very poor.
The hotel was clean, lovely bathroom, breakfast was excellent. The garden and roof terrrace were good. Private beach was fine, if it was really hot the nice shady areas would be a sweet relief Staff absolutely brilliant - helpful, informative
The only down side is you need to be able to walk, or get the bus into town - but its location is an asset
Front desk service, location and outlook
Breakfast was not good ,same food recycled day after day until stale. No variety in 7 days .hand held shower over narrow bath so bathroom floor became very wet.dogs being allowed to stay in bedrooms with guests
Extremely friendly staff, good location, only a short walk from main town.
Staff were very helpful. Helped us with booking tours and a couple of cold beers when we asked. Great information about transport and booking of private car to take us to Naples station on departure for a good price. Had a great room with a balcony and great view overlooking ocean. Even though it was a little out of town, it was easy walking, depending on your fitness level.
Bed was uncomfortable, two hard single mattresses on queen size base. Mould on plastic shower curtain in bathroom. Breakfast was late opening and if you needed to get away early it put you behind.
The friendly and helpful staff, the great breakfasts, the view, the private beach.
Nothing to be negative about.
- Nice little private beach - Really friendly staff - close to Sorrento, walkable distance to restaurants etc
- small room - shower had a life of it's own and we ended up spraying the bathroom several times! - bit run down and drab, no natural light in our basement floor - horrible bright green paint job in the hallway, just gives it more of a hostel vibe
-The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. -the breakfast is amazing : there are so many items that you will be full.fresh fruit , tomatoes, cheese, homemade jams, fruit juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, toast , selection of bread and croissant....etc, -10min walking distance from the city centre, -private car park . -every floor has its own fridge and kettle. - Value for the money.
Our room had two single bad, one of the bed frame was very squeaking. We could have complained but we didnt mind.
only positive thing with the hotel was staff who are very helpful
very old hotel the rooms are not similar with the photos of the rooms, wardrobes and also are smelling very bad, I couldn't sleep because of heavy smell I booked a room which has a sea view, but it was difficult to see the sea. the hotel and rooms need renovation the price is high because of these negative facts hotel is 10 -15 minutes walking from the city center. I recommend to stay in a hotel which is in the city center
Very friendly staff, close to the center (nice views along the walk), parking, healthy breakfast (home- baked bread, cakes, cheese, vegetables etc.)
A bit outdated bathroom
The location was great, just a short walk from town centre (although you do have to walk along the busy highway that runs along the coast, lots of people walking to other hotels but it can be busy!) The peace and quiet, we had a little veranda that looked out over the sea and were worried because there were stairs running beside it. Over the course of our four day stay we only saw one person use those stairs. We slept with the doors open to listen to the waterfall nearby. The staff were lovely!!! Sooooo helpful!
If you can, book the half day snorkelling trip to Capri. There were no spots left and instead opted for a full day excursion to Capri which we found a little long and expensive for what it was (although pretty much the same price as the ferries, at least then you have control over the time you spend on the island) The half day snorkelling trip probably would have been a much better option. All restaurants are located in town so be prepared to walk 15 minutes into town for meals. We didn't mind it necessarily, just something to consider.
Room was large and relatively comfortable although with only a few fans to keep cool and no aircon (to be fair we knew this when making the booking). Staff all very friendly and welcoming and with many useful hints and tips for what to see and do in the local area. Around 15 mins walk from the centre of town but this meant it was relatively peaceful and secluded compared to the crazy tourist bustle of Sorrento. Lovely outside seating areas with fantastic views across the Bay of Naples and access to a private beach area.
Bathroom slightly tired and dated looking although on the whole clean. Not many sockets available (especially once fans were plugged in!) to allow charging of phones etc.
Far away by walking from the central town. The hotel sign is mixed with another hotel. The price is worthless for the mould smell room, dirty beds cover and old and worn-out bath towel.
- The location was great. - The view from the terrace is breathtaking - The staff were incredibly friendly - The private beach was beautiful and free to use (but bring cash as umbrellas and chairs cost about 15 euros (total) for the day). - Very eco friendly.
- Wifi didn't work - The shower head fell off and almost hit my wife in the head. - Despite informing them months ahead that this trip was for our honeymoon, they gave us a pretty small and confined room that didn't have WIFI reception.
The view the breakfast The staff The location The WIFI
The poor cleaning The outdated decour The non AC
Great location, just a short walk out of the main town. Lovely views from the bedroom out to sea. Friendly and helpful staff.
The decor and furnishings are rather tired and worn (circa 1970s/1980s?) and could do with a revamp. We had to ask them to change our shower curtain as it had mould on it.
- fine breakfast - very cosy place, it makes you feel at home :) - beautiful view from the rooftop bar - excellent staff (the guy (Antonio, I believe:) at the front desk answered every question we had and gave good tips during our stay, also he was smiling all the time) - ambience of the area of the hotel and the room: from our room we had a beautiful view of the sea and we could sit outside on our own terrace to have a drink and relax - the hotel is a cca. 10-minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, not far at all! - tour to Capri Island can be booked from the front desk (it goes twice a week and they pick you up from the hotel) for a reasonable price - as the front desk is not 24h you are given a night key so that you can enter the hotel in the late hours - payment can be made with any type of credit card (huge relief,Maestro is not accepted everywhere) - just a suggestion - you should put up some pictures of your rooftop bar as well on your website (also there are some parts which are not available in English), we loved it! :)
- although the hotel has a private beach - huge plus, it's not crowded-, you have to pay 7 EUR just to have your own deckchair, which you have to, as there is no other option - the whole coast is covered in pebbles so you can't put your towel anywhere else. We had to go back to to hotel to get the money as we were not informed that it was an extra charge.
The staff was more than helpful and knowledgeable. It made my stay an unbelievable pleasant experience. Parking was free and on-site.
Rooms can be attended to in general
The very fact that the hotel is 2km outside of the city centre is what makes it great. It is very peaceful and has fantastic views of Sorrento town, without the noise of being in the thick of it. It also gives you a chance to work off all the great food!!
The private beach is not particulary great. We desperately wanted to jump in the sea, when we first arrived - but the water is not very clean.
Almost everything. Needs a little bit of renovation. Top value for the rate. We will definitely return. Breakfast and parking included.
A bit far from downtown Sorrento, not an issue for us as we loved walking 10 mn to get there.
Staff and location
Rooms & bathrooms need an update
Friendly staff, informative, great location, breakfast and private beach is nice to have so closeby. Antonio is very hospitable to guests and Corrina is ready to help and answer questions. Will definitely return!
Nothing negative to add
The staff was amazing. Friendly and always willing to help. Plus they gave us great restaurant recommendations. Room was always very clean and the view from our particular room was spectacular. The quick 10-15 minute walk to the heart of town gives you another breathtaking view of Sorrento. Everyone in our party loved the breakfast. Lots of healthy options and quality ingredients. Great coffee cake. I will definitely stay at Hotel Desiree next time I'm in Sorrento. It's not super fancy, but they make you feel at home. It's lovely, and I would live there if I could.
The only drawback was the private beach (which is run by a neighboring hotel). It's pricey to rent a chair, and the beach is too rocky to just throw down a towel. The beach clubs in town are about the same price — the service is good and the views are amazing. I'd recommend that route instead.
Good price for quality. Clean room. Very helpful staff.
Hotel is old.
The staff and beautiful setting can not be beat. It was a most wonderful time sharing it with my family.look forward to returning to Hotel Desiree. Thanks again
