Hotel DiplomatVia L. Alamanni 9, Santa Maria Novella, 50123 Florence (Show map) Good, Score from 681 reviews“Friendly efficient staff who spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help if we had questions. Hotel's in front of the train station which is approx. A 10 min walk from the Duomo and other sites. Location is thus good. Breakfast offered a variety of options. Rude or at best unfriendly staff, horrible room (hotel was in process of refurbishment, but i'm not sure that can be an excuse given their prices). Air conditioner's pipes sticking out of ceiling (it didn't work anyway), shower dirty and door broken (I fixed it myself), no Wi-Fi despite promises matter will be looked into (for 3 days it wasn't). Staff just couldn't care less. Dirty walls and ceiling, small and repulsive room which had nothing to do with the photo on this website. Hotel corridor looked pre-WW ii, dirty carpet, torn in places. Overall, a disgrace of a hotel, and worst value-money reference ever. If you had the choice - do not book there.

Only staff, they were trying to be helpfull as they could. Plus buffet breakfest was good. Thats all. Smell in the rooms - we were changing it twice, old dirty carpets, uncomfortable beds, outdated equipment, especially in the bathroom, acient hairdryer, toilet flashes after minutes and you need to push the button for all that time, we seen other rooms in this hotel non of it looks like on the pictures. Not worth the money and 4 stars they have, avoid if you look for a decent level hotel. Plus there were some works going on in the hotel, heavy builders noise from 8am. The same from outside of our window. No luggage storage, they keep it next to the reception accessible to everybody who walks in. Not safe at all. Avoid at all cost, not worth the money at all. Big disappointment.

I paid 124 euro's for what was described to me as an 'superior double room'. What I actually recieved was a standard room with no additional features to warrant it's increased fee over a normal double room, despie the photos on the website showing an entirely different and far more luxury room. The bed wasn't even in a double bed, but two singles put together. We was told to check in at 3, but were made wait by the maid for over half an hour because the room hadn't been prepared. I was extremely dissapointed, and the experience had a detrimental effect on my stay in Florence.

We were pleased with the location cause it was right next to the train station and quite close to the centrum. We really enjoyed wandering the streets of this beautiful, historic city and enjoyed very tasty italian food in trattorias and coffee breaks in Italian coffee-bars located in small narrow alleys. You MUST walk along the small bridges and narrow alleys and admire the historic houses. Florencia is simply beautiful and breath-taking city. On the beginning it was just chaos. We parked outside the hotel on the busy street and had to wait till the guy from the nearby garrage shows up. When he finally arrived, my boyfriend drove our car to garrage and meanwhile I was still waiting in hotel lobby to be checked-in. After long journey, it felt like hours. At the reception we were told that we have to pay tourist tax, which was 4Eur per person & per day (3nights in Florencia, 2 adults = 24Eur). But that wasn´t a big deal. When they told us that we have to pay 27Eur per a day for a parking in garrage, which wasn´t even there, we were shocked! We spent 3nights in Florence and our final bill for the parking was 90Eur. Next time we´ll fly there!

The location is ok. The facility is out of date especially the beds, very uncomfortable, I couldn't even have a decent sleep! Don't understand how could a hotel like this been classified as four star?!

Location - место расположения. Bad service. Windows did not close. Cold in room. Very small room. Not more than a 2 star hotel at high price. Internet did not work during the first day. I rate this hotel 3 out of 10. Repairs in hotel and they were painting the walls which resulted in smell. Do not stay in this hotel.

I did not like the dirty carpet lack of shower cubicle chipped and gouged walls . Building work everywhere. No real Italian coffee at breakfast just a machine terrible. The group checked out after one night even though I had pre paid a lot of money for two nights. I think that this hotel made no effort for customers you are just a ticket for them and as soon as you pay they can get the next one in.

Friendly staff and good breakfast. Good and new room. Very clean. Good location next to the train station. Our room was next to a wooden staircase in a hallway that made a constant and irritating noise. The heating didn't work well, but it was bearable.

The most comfortable beds we slept in during our tour of Italy!!! The location is excellent. Centered close to attractions, shopping, and it is literally right across the street from the train station (2 min walk), yet rooms are so quiet you can not hear the trains or traffic. The hotel was very attractive inside, had an elevator (our other hotels did not), had a nice lounge and breakfast area. Nice complimentary breakfast to... Staff was very helpful with directions and maps. There was also a bookshelf with available info. in bookshelf for research for sites to visit. We found 2 small glass shards on floor that I almost stepped on with my bare-feet - house keeping was sent up right away. Following day was not happy to find that they had filled fridge with a used water. Not to mention that upon closer look there were already 2 other drinks that had been open prior to our arrival. Toilet seat bracket was broken and the bathroom was not up to code according it Italian standards with an emergency cord in restroom. For a 4 star hotel you would have thought they would have been more on top of things. I was told they were a new hotel too. Of course they were apologetic when I brought up the issues but most other hotels usually offer a discount or upgrade to compensate for your hassle.

The Hotel employees were really polite, available to satisfy request. It is close to downtown Florence, shopping area, main artistical attraction. Good Price Charming bar and ralaxing area When I did arrive they were having remodeling work therefore the entance was blocked out to next door hotel. It took a lot to get from the entrance hotel to get actually to my room, different elevators and levels to reach in order to get to destination. But I am sure once the remodeling will be completed it will be different.

The location was fantastic. Just a few steps from the train station, but you did not hear the train when you were in your room. Free WiFi, was a great perk, since that is not the case in most of Italy.

“I love my stay at this hotel. The staff is really friendly and helpful (especially to advise on restaurants ;) . The value for money is really good, not too expensive but still chic and really good quality hotel. I was really impressed by how 'clean' it was also. The breakfast buffet is fab! and the bar is cool! The location is awesome as you are right in the centre! Fantastic! And also no city noise or anything! I strongly recommend it! ” Samia, Leeds |
