Castello has comfortable rooms, a pretty terrace and, most importantly, a fantastic location 650 ft from St. Mark's Basilica. It is a 5 minute walk from the Vaporetto (water bus) stop.

We did like literaly everything. Did not expect that good for only that price. No water cattle, but this is not an issue as you have your own whole kitchen :) Recomend it to everyone
Almost everything!! Well, we went without too many expectations and we were pleasantly surprised! Neat & Clean, staff responded very quickly to our queries. 5 mins walk from Zattare or Accademia Water bus stops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Some people may find the room decor a little too much! We were not affected by it! No WiFi - We dint care much, there was an internet cafe nearby in case of any emergencies.
The room was recently renovated. The personel changed linen on daily bases. Female personal very kind and helpful at the main hotel.
- Poor lighting (balb) in the bathroom. - Poor breakfast. - Male personel at the reception not polite. Although hotel announces payment with AMEX in it's own web page and other platforms, manager tried to charge me 3% extra for payment with American Express. He used rude words as I did not agree with the extra fee. I have filed a complain with the credit card company. Although the negative incident at the check out I would stay again at the Domus Cavanis.
Friendly staff good breakfast, clean room
- air condition which is needed especially in summertime - location is excellent close to all things you will want to see - staff helpfull and most of them speaking English without problems
-rooms are quite small but that is apparently Venice thing.. -no fridge for drinks which would be very helpful considering that shops are so much cheaper than restaurants -little more variety for breakfast wouldn't hurt either -wi fi in rooms non existent - bloody pigeons attacking your plate when u leave it unattended ;)))
The location is perfect! It is very easy to get to all major sights on foot. Also 2 waterbus stops are just 2 minutes away. The breakfast is good. The rooms are very nicely decorated and very clean. The hairdryer in our room was Very good - not a standard hotel small hairdryer.
The staff of reception was not always very friendly. We requested a non-smoking room, but it smelled smoke when we got there. Luckily after some time with open windows and aircon the smell vanished. The WC in our room was not working properly - it took ages for it to fill. Sometimes there was no hot water. Some of lamps were not working.
The hotel had a nice lounge downstairs. It was not that far from the main attractions.
When we booked the room we asked two have two double beds. Arriving at the hotel we found a room with one double and one bunked bed. We went down at the reception where we were told that someone will come in a few minutes and will modify the beds. Nobody came so at midnight we were trying to figure out how to transform a bunked bed into a double. It wasn't easy. The air conditioning wasn't working properly, it was hard to rest normally.
good breakfast, good location,
can't connect wifi in our room
Beautiful room. Clean and service was ok. Free Wi-fi at BELLE ARTI reception.
Breakfast too busy and content not so great. Nothing made me want to eat. Poor facilities inside the room. Not much provided to you. No Wi-fi in room. Have to check-in with another hotel (Called BELLE ARTI located opposite) which was confusing.
Close to water bus stop, very clean, good value for money, good location, quiet area.
Small room, far enough away from train station.
Location, the room
Breakfast on my second day and I was totally and rudely blanked by the staff - bizarre and unpleasant.
Location, rich breakfast, friendly staff, clean rooms, nice and spacious bathroom
two mattress on one big bed
Very close to the academia stop, so easy to get to from the train station on No.2 water bus. The rooms are great though a bit small, overall an excellent experience
Room was comfortable and spacious
Wifi not available in rooms not at belle arti hotel.
There was no Wifi although it was announced in the description when making the reservation. There was no response when you dialled the reception. Breakfast was poor, canned fruit and sugary cake only. Too little staff to be efficient (though staff always helpful).
Breakfast Location Very near to water stop
Room is small in size
Location was perfect, straight off the water bus from the airport, no long distance trek! Breakfast was really good. Good value for money.
The decor of the room was a bit in your face, the walls, curtains, carpet and bedding were the same colour. Room was a little small, suggest booking a larger room if you consider stopping here.
It was next to the Galeria de la Academia and very close to the main attractions in Venice. The room was clean.
It is like an "extension" of another hotel which is a few meters away, so to check-in and out and breakfast you have to go to the other hotel. There was no wi-fi in the Domus Cavanis (there was wi fi in the other hotel but you had to pay for it). It gave me the impression of a "ghost" hotel, since there was a reception and a bar in the Domus Cavanis but it was empty. Very expensive for what they offer, but Venice is expensive.
Convenient location for traveling by bus, breakfast service is really good.
no internet connection in the hotel, the reception and hotel are apart so it's hard to find.
The location of the hotel is great and its close to the water bus stations and a nice walk to San Marco Piazza. Nice and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Over all a pleasant place to stay
The quad room was quite small for four adults. It was a double room with a pull out sofa. Once the sofa bed was pulled out you have very little space for yourself and your luggage. For the price we paid, expected a larger room. Breakfast was quite ordinary the only thing hot was coffee and tea - no eggs. You pay for internet five euros per stay and its available only in the Belle Arti lounge not in the rooms. Nice place to stay but low on value for money
good location, quite street, clean room
Really good location and service.
The room doesn't contain a fridge.
staffs are very helpful. Location is great, only 2 mins walk away from the water bus stop ( no. 1 no. 2 and night buses) which so convenient to get to else where.
No wifi in the hotel. Have to pay 5 euros to use the wifi in Hotel Belle Arti which is the actual hotel for having breakfast and check in and check out.
staff very impolite and not friendly
Very good location and atmospheric décor.
Lack of free Wi-Fi was a definite minus.
