Antico Panada dates back to 1889. It is in 2 historic buildings, 100 ft from Saint Mark's Square. The air-conditioned rooms feature refined furniture, and Murano lamps.
Score from 3010 reviews Good
The bed linen was clean but not completely spotless. The bathroom was quite tiny - for those larger / taller travellers, the shower cubicle (no bath) might be a challenge! Also the top bed of the bunk bed had no guard railing which is potentially dangerous.
More peaceful than other hotels located in the more touristy areas of Venice near the station, this property in Dorsoduro was still very convenient to get to from the station by water shuttle - about 30 minutes, and about 20 minutes walk from San Marco square. The hotel itself has been recently updated and the fittings and finishes are new in appearance. The room was mostly very clean and was comfortable. As some of the other guests have noted, you need to check in (and out) across and slightly further up the street at the Hotel Belle Arti. If breakfast is included in your booking, this is where it is served. Breakfast was good but basic with little cooked food (mostly pastries, cold meats and such).
The receptionist in charge was very very bad. Even from the star, the behavior was very bad. We just got a key without any explanation and we were forced to pay the tax immediately. It is worth noting that other people from the personnel seemed really nice, but this angry girl was in charge. We got wrong room and we spent more than hour trying to get what we paid for. Even the staff from Booking.com had problems dealing with this person. At the end, we got another room which was worse then the previous one (I assume that this was intentional). Totally overpriced. We paid for a big room that should have looked like the ones in the pictures, but we couldn't even unpack in the one we got. It seems that the owner of these hotels is exploiting the employees, as there is only one reception in two separate hotels. Overall, we lost 2 hours from our trip arguing both with reception and booking.com. Will never go there again.
Location is somewhat good. There are some pleasant people working.
The drain in the shower room is clogged and it always flooded whenever we took a shower. The hairdryer didn't even work.
I liked it when the staff reacted quickly to the problem in our room. The breakfast buffet was really good. It was near at restaurants, ice cream stand, snack kiosk and the stations Zattere and Accademia. I liked it that there is a vault in our room.
Great location, couldn't have been better. Easy to find. Nicely decorated rooms. Average breakfast. Nothing to complain about.
The staff is helpful, but not very friendly.
The facilities are very good, and the hotel is very clean. The breakfast is very good. It is real,y close to san marco square, and is easy to access bu vaporetto.
Stayed across the street in a room - the phone wouldn't commect U.S. to reception so hard to ask questions unless we walk back to reception. People at the desk were not very warm - felt like we were bothering them.
Great locations sn free wifi
If the hotel would serve also some vegetables and eggs for breakfast it would be perfect. The hairdryer in the room was extremely slow and overheated. There is no minibar in the room. However, these are minor remarks. We would return with pleasure to this hotel.
Very good location, close to 2 vaporetto stations. Clean and nicely decorated rooms, spacious shower room. The staff is very friendly. One of them offered me a small bottle of wine for my father's birthday which was extremely nice of him. Another one indicated us a very good restaurant just behind the building, San Trovaso. The hotel offers a free trip to Murano by boat taxi. Overall, our experience with Domus Cavanis was really good.
I didn't like the double bed, it was made out of two singles and if you wanted to sit in the middle, it was actually a hole, so it was uncomfortable.
We spent a long weekend in Venice. The accommodation was alright. It was really awesome. It's true, in the hotel, we couldn't find any staff, but we didn't need anybody. We had a nice breakfast.
No schuko sochet adapters available (had to buy from a store) :-(. Reception personnel not as friendly as they should be.
Very good location, easy to find. Clean, comfortable rooms. Good wi-fi. Satisfying breakfast. Excellent price for Venice. From the airport take the Vaporetto (15€per person) and stop at Zattere bus stop. The hotel is ~150m away.
The staff was not very friendly (especially during breakfast) We signaled that the light bulb in the bathroom was not working, but it was not fixed
The location was very good The room was comfortable
A/C in our room did not work at all. Shower kept leaking on floor. Dusty under the bed.
We felt very welcome and comfortable. Excellent staff, food, room.
The confirmation sheet stated that a tax of 2 euros per person per day would apply. However when we checked in a fee of 3.50 euros per person per day was demanded.
Staff were quite attentive particularly at breakfast. Requests for additional bedding were promptly filled.
Great location, couldn't ask for more.
The older madame at breakfast who controlled staff to do their best was surprisingly really very unpleasant to all.
The location, the style of hotel´s rooms, very tastefull breakfast!
Arrogant staff Poor wifi Breakfast not too impressive
Great location, good access from vaporetto
The smallest room I've ever stayed in - hardly space for the suitcase! And not like the pictures. Staff morale seemed low and reflected in the service they offered. Coffee at breakfast was poor, and the croissants were gone second day with no replenishment. Some small things, but things we value in a hotel, and easily avoided.
Cleanliness and location we both excellent. It was quiet, so we slept well, which is the main the point! A beautiful city, so time in the hotel was only ever going to be limited.
Our bed was really uncomfortable. I had asked if we could please stay in any room but a red room and we were put in a red room anyway. The room didn't look anything like the pictures shown and I was really rather disappointed. The staff wasn't the friendliest either.
The price of the hotel was okay. The chocolate cake was about the only thing I liked at the breakfast buffet. I think the only thing I enjoyed about the hotel was the lounge area outside of the entrance.
Friendly, helpful staff, speaking good English. The breakfast is setup in the restaurant of the Belle Arti Hotel (just across the street) - everything is delicious and the breakfast room itself feels cozy, perfectly suited for starting off your day. The room is nicely decorated in what seems to be old Veneto style. Everything is clean and the bed is very comfortable. Finally the location is great, a bit out of the touristic area, but still within a few minutes from the main attractions. You're just 2 mins away from the Academia bridge crossing the Grand Canal and a 15 mins (provided you don't get lost) walk from the train and bus stations.
The double beds are two seperate singles mattresses so that wasn't very comfortable
The king size bed was actually 2 single bed attached
Wonderful neighborhood, good breakfast, nice room
There is not enough number of staff as you should to make many things by yourself especially when you don't know the rules of City
It was really cold to sleep there.
Good location, not bad breakfast, 1 awesome guy from staff (Sami is his name, I believe)
We liked the room very relaxing. Breakfast was simple cause I'm a muslim.
To get a key you need to go to the Hotel Belle Arti (across the same street), because there is no reception in Domus Cavanis. It's OK, but it's a good ides to write it in Booking, because we spent time trying to get there.
Location is great, the room itself is stylish and authentic. The district is quieter than San Marco and close to the main attractions at the same time.
