It was simple but charming and clean. I had a lovely view of a beautiful piazza in Trastevere. The staff was kind and friendly and willing to put up with my (bad) Italian. (They even moved me to a larger room--with a terrace-- on my second day, which was a complete shock to me.) But let me emphasize that even my small single room on the first night was lovely and I was very comfortable and happy. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.

The location is in a lovely part of rome. If you book a single room you might end up on the ground floor right next to reception...the walls are paper thin, so you can hear people coming and going all night, so that wasn't very good. I asked to be moved, and my room was much better upstairs and much quieter. After 2 nights of no sleep in the bottom room I had lost my faith in the establishment. If I had of been upstairs all along my opinion of this room would be very different. You had to sit in the corridor to get wifi access. Not a great experience, and the staff were snooty at times.

Charming location, near monuments, shopping, many good restaurants to choose from. Room was very small but we liked the age of the hotel and realize that this is a trade-off. One small annoyance was that there was no extra roll of toilet tissue in the bathroom. Overall, I think we would stay there again.

The staff were very friendly and were always eager to help and advice and as a result being in a new country I never did feel alienated but felt as if I was at home.Furthermore the hotel was not far from the main road and square were all activities and tourists were concentrated, ideal to walk around at night and see the little shops and restaurants. It was very close to my conference centre about twenty minutes walking to the American University of Rome. I will definitely come back and stay at the same hotel with my family. As regards breakfast I would have definitely appreciated some scramble eggs. The rooms are quite close to one another so when the neighbours are talking it can be heard in the room and sometimes this can be disturbing especially when they come late at night to their rooms. It wakes a person up from his sleep.

Domus Tiberina is located very central within Trastevere and only a few minutes away from the Jewish quarter or the Capitolino. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The room was very small compared with other places in the same price range. The place was clean except for the carpets which have seen quite a few things. The room I was in had only a smal window facing a central vent and you could well hear what was going on on the floor and in the adjacent rooms.

The location is fantastic. The people are very nice. The room was very small and a bit spartan, and I thought expensive for the size and quality.

good location, friendly. 24 hr doorman. Be on your toes when you pay the bill- they tried to add 40 euros unexpectedly. Also requested a wake-up call that never happened. Bathroom was dirty with a broken toilet seat.

The location, in the "arty" area of the city is good, close to restaurants and little bars. Also, you can get your breakfast in the room, which is a bonus cause the breakfast foom is freezing! The price was fair as it wasn't the touristic season which made it good to stay, but I wouldn't pay more than 60€ a night. Nice staff though. The bedroom was averagely clean, was very small and didn't even have a table or a chair. The 2 single beds put together were not confortable as they were spreading apart... Every coffey we had there was cold!

I have stayed in this section of Trastevere on all my regular business trips to Rome. It has the welcoming feel of an Italian village, great restaurants, and easy access to major sites. My meetings are at the Food and Agriculture Organization and I can walk there in 15 minutes. I have stayed in several small hotels within a few blocks of Hotel Domus Tiberina and have had good experiences so I thought I would try this one. The prices were a little lower than the others but It was a mistake. I wouldn't use this hotel when there are much better alternatives within 100 meters (Arco di Tolomei, Casa di Santa Francesca are two fine hotels). I've stayed in many 2-star hotels and Domus Tiberina is at the bottom of this category. The single and double rooms are really more like youth hostels. Cheap uncomfortable mattresses, pillows, towels; noise from the desk clerks talking loudly on their cell phones, bad advice on restaurants that tried to send me to big tourist traps on Piazza di Mercanti, and surprisingly little knowledge of the area. Furniture and woodwork are painted with pretty decorations but that's the extent of the charm. I had a four-day reservation and left after two and I'm now battling with them over their insistence that I pay for the third day.

Delightful. I wanted something close to my daughter's apt in Trastevere. My room ( a single) was teeny, tiny but everything I needed was there. It was clean; the bed and linens were top quality and comfortable. The breakfast downstairs in the morning was delicious, the desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The price was right. If you are looking for a large room, this is not your place. But, if you want something comfortable, clean and charming, this is it!!

“It is a very quaint looking hotel and was in the exact location we wanted. We found it very easily and it was centrally located for all the sights of Rome. I wanted an authentic looking Italian hotel in a cobbled alley and that is exactly what we got. All the staff were lovely and helpful and the chauffeur service from the hotel to the airport was a lovely touch.” Joanne, Woodford Green, Essex |
