Hotel Alla Fava overlooks a small Venetian canal and a quiet square, just 330 yards from Rialto Bridge. It has rooms with private bathrooms with air conditioning and satellite TV.
Score from 646 reviews Very good
The light in the room was dim; it was difficult to read at night. Breakfast was VERY basic, totally lacking creativity and variety.
The location was pefect, combining proximity to Piazza San Marco with the tranquility of a small street.
First of all this hotel is located very close to almost everything in Venice! People in hotel are beautiful and helpful whenever it is needed. Room was very small but comfy. I had absolutely magical experience staying in Venice and Albergo Doni in particular!
Bad breakfast!!!!!! No eggs no protein Location of the hotel is hard to find, you should know the station to get off beforehand as there is only boat-buses in Venice.
I was able to see the canal from my room (room 3) which was very nice. Toilet is clean and big bathroom. The hostel is build in year 700 AD. which will give you a good feeling of old time Venice. Location is closed to St. Marco (city center)
Loved it. Great location. Staff were lovely.
The building was a bit old, but it was kept up well and also had a lot of character, so we saw it as a positive. One should also watch out at high tide, as the water can approach the hotel entrance.
We were absolutely impressed with this hotel, and would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone. The price was very reasonable (a rarity in Venice!) and there was nothing to complain about. Helpful staff, family owned, good breakfast, perfect location, large room, comfortable bed. Perfect!
everything except internet access
It was quite cold, but after turning the radiator on it was warm enough.Breakfast is really basic. No real choice. I like having many choices :)
Hotel is a minute away from San Marco square!! With gondolas at the front door! Although I shared the bathroom, it was almost always free! I love that this is the palace from 17th century ... really helpful and friendly stuff. The wifi in my room was working, although it said that it works only in public areas.
Breakfast was poor,no sope in the room, towels very old, hotel needs some update,no internet in the room, if you planing to take the boat to the train station give yourself 45 minutes to an hour ,the boat runs very slow. I miseed my train to florence.good for one to two nights ,but no more than that .
The location was great, staff very helfull
Maybe breakfast can vary a bit more. A boiled egg or something else savoury would be great!
The hotel is very picturesque and perfectly situated, close to the water, where you can hear the gondoliers sing. It is very clean and well-kept. I felt at ease there!
Nothing bad at all!
Really liked the service. The hotel was clean and the rooms were warm enough. The bed was fine too. So just a really good experience for not a lot of money. Especially as the Plaza San Marco is about 3 minutes away.
Wifi only available in common areas. However, that's not a deal breaker for me.
Awesome staff, great location
In Venice there is no central heating system in houses. That's why there is own heating system in each room and it is warm there and comfortable. But in restaurant, bathroom and other public areas it is really cold. When you are not in the hotel heating will be switched off in your room.
The location of the hotel is just perfect - 7 min from San Marco, 5 min from San Zacaria boat station. Breakfast is basic but good. Stuff is really nice and friendly. I had canal view room and could hear gondolier singing so it was really fantastic. I would stay in this hotel one more time.
Breakfast room was quite cold, on the other hand it was exceptionally cold in the days I visited.
Very central location, friendly and helpful staff. Real old Venice house feeling, very nice interior decoration.
Breakfast had excellent coffee, but no variety in choice of bread, cereals or juice.
Excellent location, Venice at your feet, professional and very warm staff, huge room with fresco on the ceiling, attention to detail and several family paintings decorate the interior, comfortable breakfast room. Elegant surroundings.
Just few minutes from S.Marco and embankment, the coridor's windows face to canal. The interiors are in Venezian style. The personal is very friendly.
A little cold. The heater is far from the bed.
The breakfast is served at room.
The communal bathrooms were clean but very old and I was not feeling good about using them. My room on third floor was also very old, it would need some refurbishment. I saw some rooms on the second floor and they looked much better. The radiator in my room was extremely old (70's??) and loud.
Fantastic location. Rooms were clean. Breakfast ok, not amazing but typical for a North Italian hotel. Very kind and helpful staff that gave me excellent tips for restaurants.
The rooms don't have bathroom, there is one on the staircase. The breakfast could be better.
Very close to San Marco. Canal view. Clean. The cheapest place i could find, that was close to San Marco, and had private rooms (two person). The staff is friendly and helpful.
One night one of the rooms was not prepared correctly and we discovered it very late at night. It was a problem for us.
Almost everything. It is a very nice place run by the family.
As this hotel is right beside a canal, its entrance is effected by the high water which comes in the late autumn and winter, so beware!!!
Albergo Doni has seen better days, but my bed was comfy and the staff were very helpful in lending me gumboots when the high water came!
Great location and excellent services
Breakfast was not it at all . Don't need much in order to improve it just better quality of products , home made jam , bread that test like some thing Italian and one good prosciutto . .
The staff was helpful and nice . Good people .
Breakfast was pretty basic.
The gondoliers took advantage of the acoustics by singing in the canal outside. Very close to San Marco.
No wifi in rooms
Location is just amazing, the room was really nice
Wi-fi only in communal areas, shared bathroom, thin walls.
Location, value (for Venice), staff, other guests.
