Location was good, away from crowds, but could walk to the station and downhill to the lake. Beautiful grounds and main house was charming. Great breakfast and friendly hosts. Great value in the Annex.
Room was noisy as it was close to a main train line and the windows weren't soundproof. Could hear cars on the gravel drive.
Run by charming courteous couple who have created a hotel full of character and with a very comfortable relaxed feel. The breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice. Well positioned just a few minutes easy stroll from the lake front and set in relaxing gardens. It provided wonderful memories of our stay in Stresa.
The train line is close by and could be a little noisy at night but I would overlook that to stay there again.
The hotel is situated in a beautifull park. (As the name suggests) There are tables & chairs set up all around the park, which makes it user friendly. We had a large room, with plenty of wardrobe space, so were able to unpack. Our room was always cleaned while we were at breakfast. The breakfast was excellent, with much variety. The breakfast room was beautifull. Thank you to the gentleman who looks after the breakfast room. He is so efficient. The staff were all very pleasant & helpfull.
Everything was excellent
We stayed here for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon-- we booked very early, but I believe that knowing what a special trip it was for us, the hotel placed us in a room on the top floor with the most glorious view. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was very kind. It was an easy place to reach the train station, ferry station, and town destinations on foot.
We unfortunately missed our connecting flight and lost a day of the trip, including the first night we were meant to stay here. Although the staff was helpful in trying to book us a shuttle from the airport a day later, somehow we missed it at the airport-- again they were very kind about helping to guide us from the airport via other transportation, but I think they also felt defensive about the shuttle. We were just so happy to finally arrive when we did!
Good location, air conditioned room, and buffet breakfast.
aside above, a quality and diverse breakfast included in a spacious dining room
Good breakfast with a large choice. Very handy for the town and the ferry station. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.
We booked a room overlooking the garden expecting that this would be on the quiet side of the hotel away from the road. However the main train line runs at the end of the garden and was very noisy even during the night.
The staff were enormously helpful when we needed, dry cleaner, post office etc. breakfast was delicious and catered for all tastes. The room was spotless. Garden lovely, with chairs and tables to just relax. Short walk to the station, so very handy for us.
Can't think of anything!
Lovely old house beautifully furnished Helpful, pleasant staff Pretty setting
Location - at top of the Main Street, with a good 10 min uphill walk from the ferry dock, plus 2 steep flights of steps from the road if you are walking. There is a driveway for cars and parking around the house.
Beautiful surroundings, good breakfast, central location and lovely people.
Trains all night which kept us awake.
Only complaint was there needed to be ,more shelf space in the bathroom for toiletries.
Very well located for train travellers and plenty of parking for those using cars. Room was good and very clean. Breakfast buffet was of a good standard and the grounds are enjoyable to sit in with plenty of chairs.Only a few minutes walk for many restuarants in the town centre and well placed for boat travel on the lake.
As detailed by other reviewers the train line is reasonably close but this did not spoil our stay.
Staff Breakfast Garden Location
This hotel was very close to the train station, so it was easy for us to just walk 10 minutes to our destination, which was nice. I liked that it is close to town. Oh, the breakfast was exceptional (especially for a dessert lover) - they had a lovely home made cake and even had creme brûlée! They also had a wonderful assortment of cheeses - the best we'd seen for a 'supplied' breakfast. The common area was very nice - not redone, but had so much character as a result. The staff way lovely.... very helpful and pleasant.
Noise. Trains behind - roads in front - at night rather annoying. Bring earplugs and you will be fine! The pillows were kind of stiff hard lumps, but I was still able to sleep just fine. That might bother some people.
The service was excellent and a great breakfast was included in the price : ). Also, a very convenient location close to the train station, town, and ferries.
The hotel is very near the train tracks, the pillows are dense, and A/C is weak and not to be used as it is difficult to reach the power and they turn it off : (.
Excellent location very near to the centre of town, lake, ferries and station. Beautiful grounds. Comfy room with free safe. Nice breakfast. Wifi worked well
Breakfast Staff Location View from balcony
Wifi not working due to storm and Telecom Italian were in no hurry to fix it - not the hotel's fault Hard pillows No lift in the annexe, where we stayed
the surroundings and the professionality
not the most modern place ear plugs might be needed if sensitive to sounds
Nice old fashion style, attentiveness of staff, nice territory
Lack of coziness and refurbishment in certain places is required
Great location, charming older rooms and facilities went perfect with the atmosphere of Stresa, very friendly and hospitable staff, breakfast was good
Pillows were not very soft
Used as an overnight stop on our way back from Italy. Hotel is stylish Victorian Building short walk from Stresa centre. Our room in Main Hotel was elegant and spacious. Owners/staff very helpful and welcoming. Fabulous breakfast.
The Manager & staff are extremely helpful & friendly some rooms have great views of lake
No safe very hard pillows Average shower
Lots of character Pretty garden and green surroundings Great views from the room Quick hassle free wifi
Only bath tub, no shower
location perfect, lovely peaceful garden.5 mins to stresa town and restaurants. The steps up to the hotel from the path had a little seat ,ideal for my Mother-in law who gets a little breathless, she managed very well at the hotel .
the train at the back of the hotel might disturb some ,but not too frequent. The location and style of hotel makes up for that.
A beautiful hotel, very elegant with a relaxed atmosphere, just two minutes walk from the centre of Stresa and 10 minutes walk from the station. Good buffet breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff.
