Hotel Sonya is in a quiet area of central Rome, in front of the Opera House and 50 yards from the Viminale Palace. Rooms have free internet and a cable TV.
Score from 1233 reviews Very good
Walking distance Central station, Easy walking to all east-side attractions. Very helpful staff
The staff were very helpful, there were a few restaurants close by, which was good after a long day sight seeing. Very close to the main train station. All in all a very good and enjoyable holiday.
To be honest, we cannot think of any negative points.
Noise from faulty pump in bathroom kept breaking out throughout night leading to a poor sleep. Problem indicated to hotel with assurance of being addressed.
I liked the position and the room
The breakfast . If you are diabetic you ar going to have a coma. The city tax of 4 euro/person/day you can"t pay with card and you don"t get any bill for paying it
The staff was very friendly, all except the manager
The wifi didn't work hardly. My husband had to stand one foot in the shower and one on the floor just to use the restroom bc the bathroom was incredibly small. We had to leave a day early due to an emergency and the manager wouldn't allow us to get out of paying for the last night, which the night shift guy said we should.
nothing I liked about this hotel
breakfast was very poor and no choices. internet at the rooms were fake and doesn't reach you. location was very bad
Excellent location close to restaurants historic sites and transport
Nothing small but clean and comfortable
The staff were very pleasant. The room was quiet. There are nice, small restaurants nearby.
Difficult walk to main transport system. Hotel is old and there was an unpleasant smell of drains in our room.
Hotel was fantastic, Location is good, Staff was remarkable and location is fabulous.
The Bathroom. It was unrealistically small! I was barely able to sit on the toilet. Not to mention I was unable to enter the bath cabin at all! Awful! And I'm not even fat! I'm 192 cm, 100 kilograms... Awful experience!
The bedroom was small and the on-suite was tiny, overall a nice hotel, a good location but over priced
Staff very helpful, within walking distance of many tourist interest sites. Room was comfortable although cosy. Many restaurants within walking distance.
Breakfast very modest - Coffee (good), orange juice, yogurt and bread and pastry. Noisy toilet.
The location was great. Staff spoke English. They were very instrumental in arranging some transportation to and from airport and sites. Price was great for center of city. Close to bus and train terminal.
Steps to the Lobby. Had a lot of luggage in preparation for cruise. Had to carry to elevator (lift) which was only big enough for 3 people. Rooms very small. Not as shown on website. Friend in other room had broken shower. Okay for one night, but would want better for longer stay.
Location is good, near to termini, an old guy in reception was very kind. He helped with locations
Room was very small, breakfast was not good, hotel don't even provide iron box, no laundry fecilities. Bathroom was very very small. Overall I rate it 2 star,
Erika in restaurant friendly always made us feel welcome
pleasant staff good breakfast
could be a bit of a trek back and forth to tourist areas.
Wifi is so poor
Location is OK. Breakfast good but with no fruits. Hotel is simple but ok for 4-5 days.
Wifi is terrible. Elevator for 2 people. The soap has low quality (I bought another in the supermarket).
The hotel is conveniently in the heart of Rome's tourist attractions. The room was quite large by European standards. The woman who attended to breakfast was very pleasant.
We checked in on Saturday afternoon. The man at the desk was not at all welcoming. He had already charged our entire stay on the credit card we used for the reservation. He also told us about the additional tax of 2 euro pp per night that would need to be paid in cash only (no explanation as to why) upon departure. No info on breakfast, wifi, services or anything else. Getting info that we needed was like pulling teeth. The room was semi-clean, though there was mold on the ceiling above the shower and in some of the grout. There was an odd, musty smell in the room that never went away. It was noisy at all hours. While some question the need for wi-fi when on vacation, we used it to keep in touch w family at home to let them know we were safe, as well as to get additional info and maps for our stay in Rome. The "best" access was in the hallway; often we couldn't connect at all. Others complained about the breakfast which lacked any proteins or fruit - just sweets, toast, coffee and juice. For us this was not a major issue.
The wifi was not great
- I booked a double bedroom, but the room could actually sleep 4 people => plenty of space - very "safe" safe : it is built in the wall (it takes even some time to find it)
- the luggage service: no tags were given. Anyone could have walked in and claimed my luggage. Unacceptable. - poor WIFI reception in my room. Strange, knowing that a Wifi-repeater these days costs no more than 10 euros... - Walls between the rooms are thin (but I always use ear plugs, anywhere in the world)
Wifi really poor, staff very unconcerned about this, which left us unable to transfer money and missed out on some trips. No enthusiasm to advise tourists on what they need to know, And breakfast was rubbish, concentrated juice or squash the only thing not lace in sugar was bread for toasting and eve that was sweet. No fruit, no cheese or cooked meats. Lift was more trouble than it was worth!
Coffee ok, rooms fab, beds comfortable
Despite closeness to the railway station, location feels safe to walk at night. Close to metro station. Quiet.
Lack of security. The door to the room was left open by staff for the day. Returning from the trip, I thought I was robbed, but nothing was missing. I do not leave any valuables in the hotel rooms.
Rich and delicious breakfast, friendly staff, our room for three people was very spacious; very clean; situated on a small quite street in the center of Rome walk-distance to Termini station and all of the sightseeings
unvaried breakfast, poor wi-fi, very small bath cabin
