The Roof Terrace, the Location, Surrounding.
Somehow it was not good for sleeping. The Bathroom was very poor, means it was noisy all night, some pumping noise. Something you find often in Italien Hotels: Cleanliness is poor in Bathrooms. The Water runs poor. The drains are almost blocked.
Everything was perfect!
AC in our room was working very loud.
The location within Ortygia, looking out over the bay and within walking distance of so many excellent restaurants. The room was spacious and staff were extremely helpful.
We had a standard room, it was spacious & clean but it looked out over a courtyard with a wine bar which played loud music until about 1am.
Amazing location: just next to Dome and same time on the seaside.
Large room Nice breakfast Spa facilities
Room not 100% clean Leaking shower
Location Nice bathrooms Parking facility Helpful staff
Noisy at night until late. Relatively poor service
Nice location and great restaurant on the top floor. Breakfast was ok. Ok gym but focus on endurance, not so many machines or free weights.
No free WiFi and the room had no view at all - looking into a wall. Parking can not be had nearby unfortunately, but is possible to find free spots. Massage in the spa was not available for booking the same day. You had to wear a swim cap in the spa which you were 4 Euros for.
You must get a deluxe seaview room-wonderful to open windows to the view. Beautiful roof top restaurant & bar.
Mostly grumpy, unhelpful staff. Tired hotel with broken things in the room
The view from the hotel on the sea and Ortigia is amazing
te breakfast used to be on the rooftop with a 360 view now its on the first floor only with sea view
- breakfast - fitness room - location for visiting
- parking very far around 1km (10€) or valet parking service (25€) - color of water: my wife had a bath and the color of the water was...yellow. I took a picture and showed at the réception. "We are sorry but we cannot do anything". So I was. To summarize it was not so bad but between the distance to park the car and the impossibility to have a "normal" water, we were very disappointed.
location size of the room
everything is old, bed quality isn t great and breakfast isn't 5 stars
Roof top terrace and aperitivi Large suite with space for 2 beds for small children in a separate area Wonderful location
Location in the heart of ortigia island
As it is a 5star hotel, Room was very small, for one person, not for 2. Toiletries not sufficient for 2, and I had to ask 3 times at the concierge desk to have the refill of shower soap.
Internet 9eur/day ;(
Good breakfast, ok rooms, great location
Rather a 3 star hotel, OK but nothing special
lovely old building, comfortable ,clean room with sea view. Excellent location in Ortygia & stunning roof terrace bar & restaurant. Reception staff [ Clara] very helpful but others less so.
Parking very difficult & not all front desk staff helpful with this. Breakfast buffet very average & staff indifferent. View from bar was beautiful but table was dirty, staff casual & prices high. Menu for restaurant very limited & did not change in 2 nights we stayed so did not eat there. Left at 7am without breakfast because none available even in room before this & had to be in Catania to catch plane. Not really 5* service as advertised. Still a nice & convenient place to stay but should have some private parking.
the art nouveau furnishings were lovely.
the a/c barely worked and the lack of a shower curtain made it impossible to keep the bathroom floor dry
Location in Ortygia Syracuse is excelleent
Hotel has a slightly disjointed feel as some rooms are quite far away from amenities. Not all the deluxe rooms appear to be of a similar standard. Our two friends paid the same rate for an inferiorly finished room
indoor pool romantic and was of a good relaxation based on the system of light
to much waiting for the room
The location and view were fantastic. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The spa facility was great. The breakfast was great and complementary. They were very good about arranging taxi service for us.
The room was very hot and the staff could not make it cooler. The 2 other couples we travelled with had the same experience. The wiFi connection was impossible and only free in the lobby or on the rooftop bar. Connections in the room were very expensive.
The original hotel building is beautiful. Rooms located here are nicely decorated with good views on the front. Rooms in other adjoining buildings are drab and disappointing.
We shortened our stay because the airconditioning didn't work. The TV reception worked only part of the time and the wifi was patchy. The square outside was extremely noisy very late into the night so we couldn't sleep. Syracuse looked closed for business as there was not much opened in the hotel area. The restaurant and bar were very expensive. For example 5 euros for a very small glass of orange juice.
Style of building and location
The air conditioning was totally unsatisfactory on the 4th floor. This was acknowledged by the engineer who in vain attempted to repair it.
The staff are fantastic and the breakfast is outstanding. A bedroom with a sea view is a must. The roof terrace is a superb place to relax and watch the sun go down with a cocktail or a meal. The sun terrace is ideal place to catch some rays. The hotel is spacious and airy. The 'Ortiga' toiletries provided are a really nice touch.
The Internet is redicously over priced and has limited download. We also had a problem with late night noise although the staff seem to be trying to address this. Disappointed that a couple of the main public areas were out of use for the entire weekend with very little warning.
Easy access on foot for Ortigia. Plenty places to eat in vicinity. Good rooftop bar area. Good buffet breakfast selection although coffee was not good.
Hotel is split into two buildings and the east block with main entrance and overlooking the small square is clearly better. Although billed as a delux room and carrying the same rate, our room in the west building had none of the attractive features shown on the website. It was bare of decoration and had not one picture on the walls. There was minimum provision of space for clothes and no pegs or hooks. Only one electric socket worked.
