Excelsior Grand Hotel  

The Hotel is really lovely and ideally located particularly with the Airport bus stopping right outside the hotel. The cost for bed and breakfast was very good value and the variety of food for breakfast was excellent.

The prices charged in the Bar - 18 euro for a Gin and Tonic is unacceptable. As a result we chose to eat and drink elsewhere.

Only the Foyer and the Receptionist fits in 4 Star Hotel. The rest needs an urgent upgrade for a 4 Star Hotel..

The room I was in (328) has most of the wallpaper peeling off, especially the bathroom and the bathroom floor appeared to be all stained. The full choice of breakfast was never available at the same time, thus you had to wait for your favorite sweet/cake to have its turn to be brought out. The Hot Water was almost always warm and not hot, so one cannot get a decent cup (small for a tea cup) of tea. In a 3 star Hotel in Rome I had 2 hrs free internet because I booked through Booking.com, at a 4 Star Hotel I had to pay for even a few minutes use of the internet.

We liked size of the room and the fact that the bed for our 4 Y.O. daughter was given for free. Breakfast was quite good.

Well, for this level of price internet could be free of charge at least in the lobby.

We liked the breakfast - great selection. Also outdoor area was preasant. Cleaning staff looked after our room very well. All staff were very courteous and helpful.

Coaches were blocked when trying to approach the entance to the hotel causing excessive horn blowing by the drivers waking us from time to time.

Very spacious & comfortable rooms. Located in the city center. Great breakfast and friendly staff , speaking good English.

At the arrival the purser parked the car in the hotel-garage and delivered our luggage to our room. At the departure, the car was ready at the door, with the luggage in it. That was just great.

Camere confortevoli.

Pavimento del bagno poco pulito. Personale non preparato alla gestione degli imprevisti: si sono persi la mia prenotazione e sono andati un po' nel pallone.

Colazione fantastica... Hotel perfettamente climatizzato... Buono in generale il livello di arredamento e pulizia

Non sufficente la pulizia della moquette...

In buona posizione, l'albergo denuncia una passata, maggiore fortuna. Bella, nel senso di adeguata, la hall e la sala per la prima colazione. Ampia a sufficienza la camera, con un buon letto ed un bagno confortevole. Rapporto qualità prezzo adeguato. Personale alla reception gentile.

L'albergo è un pò "polveroso". Polvere sul bordo superiore delle lastre di marmo del bagno, batuffoli di polvere sul pianerottolo a fianco degli ascensori. Soffitto della camera con evidenti scrostature; nel bagno angoli di parato sollevati. La sensazione generale è di leggero abbandono, di pulizia un pò sommaria. La struttura meriterebbe una buona "messa a punto".Colazione semplice: la meritata fama, soprattutto pasticciera, di Catania e della Sicilia in generale avrebbero fatto sperare in qualcosa di più.Ho trovato il personale un tantino "stanco". Tutti gentili, come detto, ma barbe lunghe (camerieri) e signore alla reception dimesse. Per queste ultime, un filo di trucco ed una mise più ricercata gioverebbero di certo.

La struttura e' naturalmente bella purtroppo le stanze nel tempo non sono state adeguatamente mantenute (moquette rovinata nelle giunture, carta da parati alzata ai lembi nei bagni, altri segni del tempo...). Peccato veramente il personale alla reception e' molto professionale ed efficiente, quello alle colazioni meno. Nel complesso vale la pena.
