In a 19th-century building, the Quirinale is a 10-minute walk from the Colosseum. This historic hotel is connected to Rome Opera House through a passageway in its leafy courtyard.

The 4-star Hotel Giulio Cesare is in an elegant 19th-century building in the prestigious Prati area of central Rome, 320 yards from Lepanto Metro Station.
Score from 441 reviews Very good
We could walk to the Vatican from here. However it's far from the other major sites except Piazza di Popolo. We moved here from a hotel near Trevi as we wanted to be close to the Vatican over Christmas. We loved the breakfast as we like to eat a lot in the mornings-not the typical coffee and croissant.
It is about 20 minutes of fast walking to the Vatican. Tourists who are familiar with the Metropolitano could get their sooner from any point in Rome.
good quality with reasonable price, breakfast is great, all staffs are kind and helpful, very near to the subway station, very very convenient. highly recommended.
Free parking Good location to all touristic attractions Near the metro line Clean , comfortable
We love the kindness and friendliness of all the staff. Whenever we asked for me information or we had a request, they were ready to help. It is a hotel very quiet and peaceful, we travel with our pet, and they were more than nice and helpful. Thank you Andrea for all your help, we appreciate that a lot. Thank you so much Gabriela for indulging all of us, during those lovely breakfasts we had at the hotel. Hotel Farnese and Mrs. Pandolfi thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
The staff were, without exception, the most pleasant and helpful I have experienced in Rome ( and I have had six or seven trips).
The hot water in my bathroom was a problem until I got the measure of it !
Great hotel, right next to Lepanto metro station and Vatican within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms clean and well presented. For the price in such a good location you can't complain.
Tea/coffee making facilities would make it even better.
Location Price Size (=small)
Elevator noise in room 18 and 19 Mold smell in room 14 Somewhat limited (but not bad) breakfast
Dark Room Bad standard. Need restauration and new furnitures. Room near elevator and reception, noise from the elevator and the reception. Offered another room which was even closer to the elevator!!!
Good sized Room, excellent bed. Clean functional bathroom, Quiet, relaxing ambience. Professional, helpful staff.
The scrambled egg at breakfast!
Very polite, friendly and helpful staff!
This hotel is somewhat of a small jewel in my view. It combines traditional hoteling with appropriate modern comforts. The hotel is in a period building from 1906 combining a private palazzo-style structure and a boutique hotel in a good location in the Prati district. The general surroundings are predominantly residential and the local metro station is very close by. There are a variety of restaurants nearby and also a decent-sized Mondadori bookshop. The hotel is furnished traditionally in a good-quality traditional bourgeois-style where the quality of the furniture and décor is very much in keeping with the period. Equally importantly, the hotel room has a (for hotel rooms, no less!) very rare feature – a multitude of electric sockets. Ergo, the recurring search for accessible sockets/sufficient number of sockets/sockets that one can actually use without having to disconnect the minibar or the television or the lamps or move furniture around is not required at the Farnese; I counted six unused sockets in my room. Other hoteliers, please note that most travellers might like candle-light dinners but also appreciate being able to charge all the electronic paraphernalia that makes up life in 2014 without having to get up in the night to change the gadget to be charged. The hotel has an air-conditioning system – useful in Rome as it was 27 degrees when I visited – that actually works and is comparatively silent. What you can experience in Rome is a preponderance of scooters/Vespas, enthusiastically driven motor cars as well as late-evening high-heeled clatter on the pavement – all what makes Rome such a special and enjoyable city to visit. Fear not! The triple glazed windows and the air-conditioning will ensure that if you have an appointment at the Vatican the next day, a stay at the Farnese will put you in the appropriate serene mind.
I found nothing at Hotel Farnese that I didn't like. However, just to be foppish and in jest, I will write complete this box. The hotel lift plays Italian opera which is highly commendable and a delightful touch. Personally, I would have preferred the aria sung by Placido Domingo rather than Pavarotti but having a Spanish tenor sing Verdi in a hotel in Rome might be a step too far...I did warn you and I also hope that my Italian friends will forgive me.
Old hotel, needs full renovation
The hotel is very well located. Subway station very close, walking distance to the main attractions
The room right behind the frontdesk..weired for a four-star hotel
Reception staff are very friendly and any requests for taxis and day trips were dealt with immediately the hotel is in close proximity to the metro. This hotel is of classic design and the room we stayed in had a balcony which we appreciated in the late evening due to the warmth of temperature giving a relaxing end to the day.
We have stayed in this hotel 3 times over the past 9 years the room although clean was a bit tired and worn looking there was no safe provided apparently it was away to be repaired. The range of food for breakfast has most definitely been reduced since we first stayed there The waitress in the breakfast room was friendly but a bit over attentive and while it is nice to have prompt service this could give the impression of being under observation while eating although she may be following management protocol. This room cost £265 euros per night and a better choice at breakfast is not too much to ask.
We were surprised at how beautiful this little hotel is, great value for money. The staff were just wonderful and we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Our room was huge, bathroom was lovely. It was at the end of our 6 week holiday and definitely felt like a treat. It is in a quiet location, yet walk-able distance to Vatican and other attractions. We also had free parking, huge bonus in a city like Rome.
Walking distance to Vatican, staff were friendly, quiet location away from heavy traffic, just metres from the metro station. Good breakfast in the rooftop area.
Only location, still it was a litle bit far from center
Rooms furniture is old, shower is tiny. Everything wasn't comfortable. And there were no wifi at all during all my staying.
Staff was very friendly, breakfast was outstanding, location was very good. The hotel grounds are a magnificent site, and the roof top breakfast area was a great way to start the day. Great value for the money.
Rome nightly city tax - what does the city use that for? The area around the main attractions is kept well clean, but outside that, the city is really one of the dirtiest European super-cities I have seen. Any meal cost away from your hotel is shockingly high.
Location: 15min walk to Vaticaan, 20 min walk to city centre. Great if you want to compensate the goo italian food and ice cream by walking :) Room: clean, big, nice decor, big bathroom Staff: frendly and helpfull, speak goood english Breakfast: divers an fresh with alot of fruit and great service lady Area: quite, for gilrs t walk alone till 12hrs ok, but not later. Reromman for family, there is parking place
Wifi was sometime slow, and everytime u switch wifi on, u have to log in again, it can be annoying
Location, parking, style, comfort
Location was very good just five minutes walk from vatican city
we got the basement standard room which has not a view or a proper window you could open without hearing everyone on the street talk or the cars passing by. Toilet was very old. Breakfast very poor.
The location was superb...near metro and easy walking distance of the Vatican. The reception were great with help on where to eat and booked tables in advance. Overall wonderful...we hope to return!
The Wifi wasn't great...only issue
This is a lovely small hotel in the quiet residential neighborhood of Prati, within walking distance of the Vatican and the Piazza del Popolo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They arranged for taxis, replaced a leaking shower head, and gave us softer pillows on request. The room was quite small but had a nice balcony. The bed was very comfortable.
There was little room to move around the bed because of an ill-placed oval table and two large chairs at the end of the bed. We kept bumping into the table so we moved it to the balcony.
Beautiful boutique hotel; comfortable beds and spacious bathroom! The breakfast is just amazing--variety of delicious food and served on the rooftop with a view of the basilica! Front desk staff so friendly, helpful, and courteous. I hope to stay there again!
The twin-bedded room is small by American standards. As a boutique hotel in Europe, this is to be expected; this is not a terrible problem.
Loved the beautiful breakfast.
The beds need heavier blankets. It was cold in our room and hard to get comfortable.
