Be careful, when taking a shower. Everytime someone turns the water on,
or flushes the toilet, you will get burned. Shower is very small, which
makes it hard to avoid the boiling stream. It is not made for slightly
larger individuals. Pillows are not very comfortable, but I've
noticed that all over europe. It would be great, if hotels/bnb would
invest in some goosedown pillows.
The location was even better than we expected! Surrounded by rolling
hills, the village is preserved and restored beautifully. You truly feel
that you have been transformed back in time. The hosts were very kind
and provided us with lots of information about the region, and advised
on restaurants and gelato shops in San Gimignano, which is by the way
about a 10-15 minute drive. The grounds of this medieval village are
stunning, with flowers blooming everywhere. The room was simple, with a
large bed and a beautiful view. The bathroom was clean and functional.
If you do not have great expectations from such accomodations, you will
not be disappointed. We did opt to pay for breakfast (10 euro per
person), and it was fine. Nothing to write home about, but then again,
Italians are not big on breakfast. There were several types of cereal,
cold cuts and cheese, fruits. We did not leave hungry. The staff was
curteous, and made sure we were comfortable. When we were checking out,
the hostess gave us a bottle of their olive oil for free. We also bought
a few bottles. Overall experience Excellent! We highly recommend this
place, either for a short stay, or for a longer vacation.
