Beautiful little village of stone buildings. Outstanding food and wine from an absolutely hospitable family. We can't wait to book a return visit
Rural feeling, nice owner, wonderful view from the window.
The bed was the most uncomfortable we've ever slept in. My wife slept on the floor one of the nights because she couldn't bear it anymore. The kitchen wasn't well equipped (no microwave, electric kettle, toaster) and there was some bug in the sink (we had to seal it with a plate so it doesn't go up again and again). Fluctuating electricity. Low water pressure in the shower and the water switch intermittently between hot and cold.
We loved the country setting, the peacefulness and the Italian beauty.
It's always hard to find thigs in Italy
Great location, breakfast, dinner, idyllic grounds. Great place to walk around. Wonderful people, exceedingly friendly and accommodating. We had a great sleep here and wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!
One of the most Wonderful family run establishment I have ever had the pleasure to stay with. Sad we had to leave so soon but we will be back. The grounds and the vineyards are spectacular.
Location The english speaking host and hostess that could not do enough to help us for travelling The in house dinner and breakfast The informative wine tour Roomy accommodation
The ambiance is unbeatable, historic buildings in a beautiful setting. Wonderful dinners that allow you to meet and get to know people from all over the world. Personal attention from the owners that truly care about your experience. Great base for exploring the Tuscany region.
Can't honestly think of anything negative.
Very nice pool area. Great authentic buildings. Nice, spacious room (equipment rather basic). Bathroom OK. Very nice location and view. Dinner OK.
Breakfest very basic. The farm is closer to the road then we expected (the traffic is not big, so it is not too bad). Distance from San Gimignano: ca 7 km by road, too far too walk.
Friendly staff who went out of their way to cater for our 18 month old. Spacious appartment with good views in a quiet location, with pleasent swimming pool isolated enough to be child friendly.
This beautiful 11th century family fattoria is a welcome respite from hectic San Gimignano. Our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly . The views were magnificent and the buildings picturesque. It was just lovely .
The owners went out of their way to help you and the laundry facilities were great. Also enjoyed the swimming pool
Excellent staff, especially the owner. Nice swimming pool. Available laundry (low cost). Nice breakfast with local grown fruits. Guided tour through wine manufacturing with the owner. Beautiful view from the room (tuscany landscape). Rooms with kitchen.
Every thing. Unberto and his wife are true gem. Fluent english. helpful and kind. Superb location
Beautiful place, very nice staff, amazing wine :)
This place was fantastic. Very comfortable accommodation and friendly welcoming owners. Area was great. Being a bit out of town , a car is useful. The town of San Gimignano is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend this accommodation.
Nothing to dislike.
The hospitality of the owners , the rustic appeal of the accommodation , the location
Unreliable wifi - a minor issue
The location was even better than we expected! Surrounded by rolling hills, the village is preserved and restored beautifully. You truly feel that you have been transformed back in time. The hosts were very kind and provided us with lots of information about the region, and advised on restaurants and gelato shops in San Gimignano, which is by the way about a 10-15 minute drive. The grounds of this medieval village are stunning, with flowers blooming everywhere. The room was simple, with a large bed and a beautiful view. The bathroom was clean and functional. If you do not have great expectations from such accomodations, you will not be disappointed. We did opt to pay for breakfast (10 euro per person), and it was fine. Nothing to write home about, but then again, Italians are not big on breakfast. There were several types of cereal, cold cuts and cheese, fruits. We did not leave hungry. The staff was curteous, and made sure we were comfortable. When we were checking out, the hostess gave us a bottle of their olive oil for free. We also bought a few bottles. Overall experience Excellent! We highly recommend this place, either for a short stay, or for a longer vacation.
Be careful, when taking a shower. Everytime someone turns the water on, or flushes the toilet, you will get burned. Shower is very small, which makes it hard to avoid the boiling stream. It is not made for slightly larger individuals. Pillows are not very comfortable, but I've noticed that all over europe. It would be great, if hotels/bnb would invest in some goosedown pillows.
Liked the friendliness of the family, the charm and character of the place.
Found the price for the small room a bit stiff. Breakfast was good for Italian standards, but not for the international traveller. Dinner seemed overpriced. WiFi didn't work in our room for half the time we were there.
We were looking for an authentic Tuscan farmhouse experience, and we found it at Frattoria San Donato. We enjoyed the open fire and the breakfast was great. Umberto was very helpful in terms of travelling around San Gimignano and his wines and other produce were excellent. Only concern was the lack of internet within the apartment, which when travelling and wanting to book accommodation further on was a bit of a problem, however the solitude (no TV and internet) was quite lovely and a welcome change to our fast paced lives. Also perhaps the beds and bed covers could be updated.
Nothing really, it was a very authentic feel, which is what we were looking for.
We had an amazing stay at fattoria san donato. The villa we stayed in was very comfortable. It was super cold in tuscany when we arrived, but the apartment had been made very cosy and warm for us, which was much appreciated. We had plenty of room in the apartment, and enjoyed making a light breakfast for ourselves each morning. Our favourite feature of the villa was the fireplace! Especially as Frederica put together an antipasti platter for us, which we enjoyed with a bottle of their beautiful red wine in front of the fire. On other nights, we got pizza or pasta from a restaurant nearby, and had a lovely night in. Frederica was lovely, she was just so friendly and chatty, and willing to help with anything. Umberto helped us find a wonderful cooking class. The location is perfect, quiet and peaceful, but still very handy for access to san gimignano. Highly recommend.
We were not able to access the wifi from our apartment. However, we used it at reception. We did a wine tasting, which unfortunately seemed a bit rushed.
Great place to get a feel of what it is lke to stay in the country side of Italy.
Owners and family very friendly and accommodating. The beautiful countryside B&B (organic farm) location near San Gimignano was perfect. Very good wine and olive oil. The prepared farm fresh dinner was also great.
Internet did not work in villas. Staff was less than friendly. Breakfast was not worth the extra expense.
