Our efforts for any consideration from Hotel Fellini were denied,
unfortunately, so here's our honest review. Had they been willing to
refund us a portion of our stay more in line with the quality of hotel
they are, we would not have written this...The location of this hotel
was not what it was advertised. It was several blocks from Spanish Steps
(not 2) and really in the Barberini district not Trevi Fountain or
Spanish Steps. It was in a seedy section just at the end of the
Embarcadero with graffiti across the street. Trevi Fountain was no where
in sight, but supposedly 4 min away and the rundown area of this hotel
was not what all the reviews suggested. The room had a horrid smell and
someone had sprayed a strong perfume to attempt to cover up the smell.
We called to complain about the strong perfume and returned the next day
to the same. We called the front desk again and they apologized, and
promised they had asked the maids not to spray the perfume. The smell
continued all 5 days we were there and never improved and no one at the
front desk ever asked or followed up on our complaints. Othere than
Michael, most acted like they didn't speak English and barely said
'hello" when we left in the morning or returned at night. The
breakfast on day 1 was pleasant with a selection of meats, fruits,
Danish and yogurts. Each day the selection dwindled to the point that on
our 5th and final day the only yogurt selection was plain and when we
asked if they had any other selections we were told, "NO.
That's all we have." Without any effort toward customer
service. Later we found out that the Hotel Del Corso, where we had
family staying, was serving hot eggs and bacon along with their
continental breakfast, had nice large rooms for 4, was actually a couple
blocks from Spanish Steps in the center of good shopping and charged
1/3 less/night than what we were spending.
Michael, one of the hotel clerks was very nice and friendly. Although
the room seemed clean, it had a terrible rotting stench mixed with
strong perfume that the maids sprayed we were told.
