Fontana Hotel is right in front of the Trevi Fountain, possibly the most visited site in the historic center of Rome. Breakfast is served in the rooftop lounge, with a terrace with unique views. Fontana Hotel Rome is set in a 16th-century building, formerly a convent. It is a 5-minute walk from Barberini Metro Station on line A, 2 stops from Termini. The compact rooms are classically decorated, and feature elegant hardwood floors. Each room comes with air conditioning, and a flat-screen TV with Sky channels. Some have views of the fountain, and some include beamed ceilings. A varied continental breakfast is served daily. The buffet includes pastries, fresh fruit, cheese and ham. the breakfast room looks over the fountain the hotel staff were very rude to all customers and everyone complained. The staff were unwilling to listen and lied their way out of discussions. The food was ok, but the rooms were dirty and loud and no one could sleep.

The view would have been the best thing but unfortunately we could not see anything due to the building work. It would have been nice to know about this before we commited to booking. However once outside the hotel it was amazing. Very clean room & reception area. Good quality fixtures. The reception staff (1 man particular) not very friendly, made us feel like we were a 'nuisance'. Not very skilled in pleasant communication! Also our electric was turned off every time we left the room., which is not a problem but on returning we had to come back downstairs to ask for it to be put back on. As we had to ask for our room key it would be common sense for the reception staff to switch it on for us then!!

The best thing about the Fontana Hotel was the location. It is located directly across from the Trevi Fountain. We opted to pay the upgrade to stay in a superior room which gave us a view of the fountain. The staff were rude, the breakfast was mediocre, and the rooftop lounge was a rip off.

Nice hotel in the heart of the city, near Trevi Fountain. Rooms are not big but comfortable. It should be understood that the fountain at night do not turn off and the noise (not intrusive) can interfere with sleep.

The central location and vicinity of the Trevi fountain are it's main initial attractions. The area around the hotel and fountain have a cheerful and pleasant feel, even out of season. The staff at the hotel are friendly, and prepaired to help, even a monolingual englishman. Special thanks to Nicola for his enrichment of my visit to Rome.

In one word... Wow. The view from our bedroom window over the Trevi fountain was amazing, just beautiful. Must surely be one of the best locations to stay in Rome? Breakfast is served in the roof terrace again overlooking the Trevi fountain where a good range of breakfast food was provided. In the evening an apertivo is also served in the terrace the views over Rome are breathtaking.

Fantastic location!! We had a view of the Trevi Fountain from our room!! It's also within walking distance between the Colosseum & Vatican City. Most of the reception staff were very helpful & friendly. The rooms were spotless & comfortable, we had a/c & a ceiling fan so we could close the windows at night becuese the Trevi fountain is on all night till 8-9am when they clean it. We loved the antique decor, it was just enough without being fussy, it's a beautiful hotel. Would definatly go back to Fontana Hotel! The breakfast was disapointing, it was below the standards we had enjoyed in two other hotels during our holiday in Italy, but the food in Rome does fall below what we had experienced elsewhere. The lady in the breakfast room did not seem happy to be there! She always made us feel like we were in her way & putting her out, used tables stayed uncleared, milk/juice etc were left empty & we were nervous to ask her to refill them!! The breakfast room is amazing, it's on the top floor with a view of the fountain.

Good breakfast and location. Nice staff. They put us in a really bad room in the first day. The mattress had a big hole, the shower was too small and the airconditioning did'nt work well. I request another bedroom in the secound day. They changed us for a really good bedroom, where everything was fine.

This is a quaint historical hotel with its biggest attraction being its location and the history of the establishment and (see below) its view. The staff were very helpful and friendly (Especially Issac) An added bonus was English is spoken fluently The size of the rooms and unfortunately there was scaffolding preventing the view

Fantastic location right at Trevi fountain at a very attractive rate for Rome. Staff was helpful and great breakfast, on a 4th floor covered terrace, was enhanced by looking right down at the Trevi fountain. Our room was somewhat small [normal for Rome], air conditioning worked and was quiet because it was an inside room. Outside rooms apparently can be noisy since Trevi rocks til the wee hours.

fantasticodationvisit marred by the refurbishment location basic accomodation could be made better visit marred by refurbishment which blocked the view of the fountain from the room and the roof breakfast area scaffolding was not mentioned as refurbishment so it was very disappointing as the views are to die for. You cant help the thousands of people gathering around the fountain all day and night until 2am

The Fontana Hotel literally sits right in front of the Trevi Fountain, one of the most visited landmarks in all of Rome. This made for lots of excitement and great people watching. The location is also fantastic in terms of its proximity to many of Rome's greatest attractions, all of which are within a comfortable walking distance. Some of these include: the Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Forum, and the Vatican. Considering its wonderful location right in the heart of Rome, our family thought it was a very good value for the money. The hotel staff was cordial, and we thought the bellman, Isaac, was especially helpful. While the hotel's proximity to the Trevi Fountain was fine for our family, I think the high level of noise and activity just outside one's window at all hours of the day and night could be bothersome to some guests. In addition, we were never told when we made our reservation that there was construction going on at the hotel, which included scaffolding that completely blocked the view from our room and from the breakfast room as well. The hotel is adequately appointed and suited our needs just fine, but it is not luxurious and the amenities are quite basic. This included the breakfast, which was adequate, but nothing special.

Location great. Can walk to Spanish steps Parthenon and of course the fountain is there. At first I felt the staff were rude but then I realized it was the Italian demeanor. Everyone was helpful. Breakfast good. All basics are met. Mood is very Italian and the area is lively with lots of cafes and shops. Hotel had some charm. Hotel a bit dingy. I grew fond of it during my 3 night stay though and later enjoyed it for it's old world atmosphere . Sort of bohemian chic. I did not like the small shower however. Ac worked and lots of antiques in room.

location, location, location. Nicholas was especially caring and helpful in dealing with hotel issues with other hotel that had cancelled our reservations at the last minute. Very Roman feel to hotel. construction outside hotel around entrance by city and large crowds around fountain in front of hotel door. Low ceiling beams were dangerous.
