My single room was budget priced, presumably because it was on a lower level and had a lesser view of the valley below Assisi. Nonetheless the aspect was pleasant and the room well appointed. Staff were helpful and spoke good English.

The view from our room, and also the restaurant, is incredible, that alone is reason to stay at the Fontebella.

Perfectly placed for the churches. Setting is medieval town. Great walking. Adequate breakfast. Rooms a bit small for the price. Good bathroom.

Restaurant closed (in a hotel?) Internet inadequate..not in room. Parking is extra. Windows seized shut.

Lovely historic hotel, well-located, clean, spacious and comfortable; friendly, helpful staff. Convenient restaurant in the hotel. Gorgeous views of Assisi and Umbrian countryside. Easy parking compared to other hotels we saw in Assisi.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. The view was beautifully stunning, it really is breathtaking to look at the valley from the hotel room. The location, very close to the center, was perfect.

Breakfast should be improved: there should be local delicacies and not industrial food. That's the least for a 4-star hotel. The bathroom, although in a good state, should be refurbished.

Originally had scheduled for two days, a total of 414 EUR. Changed to a single night. Was SHOCKED to see the price was 320 EUR. Had I known the price would be so high for just a Friday night stay, I would most definitely NOT have stayed at this hotel. I would not recommend it to anyone. Quite frankly, the disappointment in the hotel cast a cloud over the entire stay in Assisi.

very friendly staff in a magical setting. The view from our room was spectacular, overlooking the Umbrian hills. The room itself was very quiet despite the large number of guests we saw at breakfast! We ate in their restaurant, il frantoio, and the meal was the best we had in our five nights in Italy! The room was comfortable, with a bed on a mezzanine floor so ample space for three or four people.

The hotel is located quite a ways uphill from the bus station which is why it has such a nice view. The hotel shut the air conditioning off to the rooms in mid September even though it was still extremely hot. Not very relaxing after walking up and down the hills in the town all day long! We were there on September 23rd.

It was in a pretty good location with easy access to most places of interest

We were told on arrival that the hotel restaurant had 2 michelin stars so we booked a table for that evening. The food was ok but the service was dreadful and after our main courses were cleared away we werw totally ignored despite the restaurant being less than half full. Michelin 2 star???? I don't think so!!!!!!!!! The breakfasts were also not brilliant with very indifferent taswting fruit juices and the coffee came out of a machine!!!! We are in italy for goodness sake where coffee is like a religion! Don't stay here for the food!!!

Excellent placement within the historic center of the city

The staff were extremely helpful and polite in the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect for sightseeing. One of the most outstanding feature of the hotel is the restaurant with a wide range of wine and fine Italian food.

We chose the hotel based on the recommendations written online and were not disappointed. The location was excellent, staff were friendly and the car parking right outside was a bonus. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

What a marvellous location. We used our GPS to find the hotel, but we really enjoyed our time there. The room was very EUROPEAN and the view was amazing. Breakfast in the morning was very nice in a lovely dining area. We certainly got our exercise walking around the beautiful town.
