Staff is very nice. He helps a lot of thing. Good location.
Room is not looked nice. It is cold during the night
The staff was keen to help.
The heater was not working unless we asked the staff. We highly suspected that the staff closed the heater at night in order to save money because the heater was not open every night. So, we were very cold every night. The location was not difficult to find because there was no clear sign and it just liked a normal apartment door. At night, it was very noisy as there were so many cars passing by the apartment. I appreciated they provided kitchen but it was very dirty and the refrigerator was very smelly. Overall, the price was high, relative to the services they provided.
Perfect location: shops, Termini station, metro station, center of the city Very welcoming hosts, friendly atmosphere, comfortable place to stay for a night or for the whole week
Room was clean. bed-linens changed everyday. Personel was friendly and helpful
About breakfast I'm disappointed ! I thought there will be many choices as I had experience from other hostels... there were just one croissant or a cake and coffie !!! It didn't worth what I paid. TV was broken.
It was a reall small house, and with Victor's hospitality it really was a Friends House!
Bunk Beds had no ladder, so you could not come down or go up without waking up the person in lower bed!
Location. Price of private room.
The guy at reception was harmless... but gave off a creepy vibe. I wouldn't have felt comfortable entirely if I had been staying alone but it was okay since I was with a friend
Staff are friendly & eager to help. The establishment is clean & safe. It is situated close to public transport. It is close to Termini Station; easy to obtain buses to the airport. We had a good experience overall & wish Friends House all the best & many travelers in the future.
The staf, i forgot his name, really helpfull and friendly, close to the station
It's really hard to find, because no name of your hostel anywhere, just on the bel, lucky me to found your hostel.
Viktor was pleasant and helpful
- it was colder inside than outside - nothing except beds and 1 chair in the room - price was too high for such a services - kitchen is opened from 2PM till 8 PM - there was a conditioner in the room, but no one knew how to use it and MOREOVER you have to almost beg to turn it on in the reception
I arrived very late at night because my flight arrived late to Rome. I just stayed there a few days ago so this is from my recent memory. The hostel is very clean which is nice, especially the bathroom. I didn't have any problems with the WIFI it was fast (by Italian standards). The bed sheets and blankets were clean. I would definitely stay here again because of the cleanliness, small size, quiet, and decent WIFI (by Italians standards).
I stayed in the room with three beds and it was very cold and no indoor heating except in the bathroom. There are two hostels with the same name. I know this because I called from the airport, when my flight arrived in Rome and a rude woman answered the phone and she informed me that I didn't have a reservation with her hostel it was a different Friend House. I think the hostel owners should meet and one of them should change their name as they're both listed (you can google them) and it can be confusing. When I arrived at the hostel around midnight the manager/employee/owner answered the door and he was abrasive. I had questions about my brief stay and he was very irritated about answering the questions. For example, I asked him if I could pay with my credit card since I didn't have enough cash with me to pay for the room. They were questions similar to that. I've worked in hostels for many years so it's interesting to see the type of staff that are hired and how well they do with customer service. He was also annoyed that I was leaving early in the morning. I arrived at midnight and I left at 7 am in the morning, I guess that is too early? I don't know but he had some sarcastic comments about my early departure. Despite the negative customer service I would return to the hostel again because it's clean, cheap and near the main train and metro stations. I would avoid interacting with the staff.
the excellent crew( very open, pleasant and helpful), comfortable beds,it's a nice and quite place in the city center, all facilities are in the neighborhood ( train station, airport bus, shops, supermarkets ),
Pressure in the shower was very poor, ring bell from the door was next to my room, which was annoying
A staff was really nice.
WiFi was weak.
very good value for money. Host was very kind and helpful. The apartment we stayed was clean. Οne of the best options for cheap vacation in Rome!
The neighborhood has not so good reputation but its location next to Termini helps us to have easy access to the airport. WiFi connection some times good other times not.
Hot water. Ensuite. Kitchen. Towels changed daily. Bin changed daily. Friendly staff. Good proximity to Termini and nearby Metro. Good size room.
Hot water took a good 2-3 minutes to come through. Because of this we saw other people wash dishes in cold water- yuck. Ensuite shower was falling apart, doors nearly falling off and hard to roll, also where shower screen connects to wall had come off wall, thus wetting toilet and toilet paper. Kitchen seemed tidy when you glanced at it, but it was completely grotty. We washed thoroughly, in hot water, every dish/bit of equipment before we used it. Also odd hours for using the kitchen (2pm till 8pm). We were told this after we arrived. We said this was false advertising (the kitchen was the reason we booked the accommodation) and requested a key. Staff said we didn't need one. When we tried to get into kitchen a few hours later (and within times allowed) we couldn't. Ended up calling staff on the phone to let us in, and requesting a key, which was then given to us. Towels were changed daily which was great as there was nowhere to hang them. We were told by staff that we had to pay cash when we arrived. We told them we weren't aware of this but could of it, however it costs us to get money out and could we have this amount discounted off the room rate because of this. It was agreed to but when we went to pay there was lots of confusion and anger. Eventually we were allowed to pay by card. Alcohol free accommodation. VERY sketchy feeling area, we never walked after dark by ourselves. Nowhere to put luggage, expect on floor. Absolutely NO soundproofing. We stayed two doors up from reception and could hear staff playing on their phones while we tried to sleep. The 'quiet times' for using the free computers are also not enforced, people having loud conversation till the wee hours of the morning. The very noisy buzzer, to get in, was rung at all hours as the key was hard to use. Each key to each different area had it's own quirk- some had to be pushed downwards to work, others had to be pushed in all the way then pulled out a millimetre etc.
Situated very close to main railway station and underground network. The staff were excellent particularly Victor, spoke English, Russian, Bulgarian, some French and German as well. This provided us with all that was required, because you are there only to sleep etc, you are not there on a package tour and want to live in the hotel all the time. This would be our first choice if we return to Rome for any reason, mainly because of the staff.
No bad comments really, maybe a facelift would make it more appealing to some people.
Travelled with my 18 year old Daughter. Friends House is about 3 mins walk from Termini Station for buses, metro and trains. We had en-suite room with single and king-size bed, very clean and spacious. There was also a large immaculately clean bathroom across the hall that we could use if needed and had full use of a well supplied kitchen and dining area. Viktor and Francesco were always around to help in any way they could, nothing was too much trouble! There are some small supermarkets around the area that stay open quite late, but the best and biggest is the SMA supermarket which is only about 7 mins walk away. I normally stay in 3-4 star hotels, and was a bit dubious at going to a hostel/hotel...I needn't have worried as it turned out to be an enjoyable experience that I would repeat on my next visit to Rome.
That I was only there for 5 nights.
Sleeped in the staff room, not even for guests
Location is good. Staff were friendly. Wifi does not work so fast. I supposed to stay in 6-bed mix dorm, but I was offered to stay in 3-bed dorm which was good in terms of avoiding mess and noise around.
The manager is very kind and helpful, the price is very reasonable and for a hostel there's everything you need. Nothing to complain about.
As guesthouses go, this one is very good: the beds are comfortable, all the facilities work. But the main reason to choose this place is the host. Victor is magnificent! He is welcoming, attentive and will go miles out of his way to make your stay as great as it can be, and then some)) Definitely recommend.
WiFi a bit on the weak side in the rooms far from the router, but nothing you can't work with (especially at these prices:p)
The only good think it was that it is closed to metro and only Victor was very good and helpfull.
Everything... First of all in not a hotel but a hostel.. Not a good area...
Good spot near Vittorio Emmanuelle metro station, friendly staff, vending machine available
Wifi not strong in the rooms, a bit noisy area during the morning
Value for money - it's in the centre area, close to metro, and to some touristic objectives The facilities - the fact there is a kitchen, with refrigerator, and a table for you eating The quallity of the staff / warm and open It's quite secure, as there is always a man taking care of the place, and there are also two locked doors before entering
If you choose a room with more beds you don't have such intimity The noise in the night outside - some very noisy cars were passing on the main road close to the establishment
