Hotel GalateaVia Genova 24, Rione Monti, 00184 Rome (Show map) Very good, Score from 104 reviewsWhen in Rome it is important to have good public transport links and a central location that lets you reach the main attractions on foot; therefore Hotel Galatea is ideal. Set on the corner of Via Nazionale you are right in the heart of one of the most popular shopping districts in Rome, a 10-minute walk from Termini Station. Each guest room boasts a modern design and comes with air conditioning. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate. Ask at reception about guided tours around Rome and airport transfers. The Galatea Hotel is close to the popular neighbourhood of Monti where you can find plenty of typical wine bars and restaurants. The Roman Forum and Coliseum are around 10 minutes away on foot. In addition, you are just a few hundred metres away from metro stops on both city lines; perfect for travelling further afield. Hotel Rooms: 17

Perfect Location right by the city center and small streets on the back with the best food we had in Rome. We could walk to anything (almost) in 10-15 minutes, and a boos outside took us to the Vatikan area. Clean and quiet rooms with good aircon, and a friendly staff. Could`nt be happier with our choice of hotel!!

The best thing was the size of the bathroom. Breakfast... It doesn't offer you something worthy.. It's very hard to find something to eat at the "open buffet". If you have the option, room without breakfast go for it.. Don't spend money for that..

The location of Hotel Galatea was great - right in the city center and an easy walk to all of Rome's main attractions - as well as the metro and main train station! I booked this hotel based on location, price and past reviews and I was not disappointed. The staff were all very friendly, our room and bathroom was nice and spacious and very comfortable. The only things I didn't particularly enjoy was the breakfast - not a whole lot of selection and almost all of the choices were very sweet and sugary. The only other downside were all of the marble stairs - the hotel is located on the 3rd floor (which is actually the fourth floor). There is a lift for the entire building but unfortunately most of the people who use the lift didn't close the doors back all the way when they exited on an upper level and the lift does not operate when the doors are not closed completely. So after a long, hot day of trudging around Rome, it was depressing to get there and press the lift button to find that it was stuck on an upper floor so we had to take the stairs.

The room was simple, but clean. The staff were very friendly and wanted to be helpful, but weren't very knowledgable about tourist information. For instance they suggested a gelato place nearby and marked it on the map, but there was no gelato place there. We asked for help finding the Colosseum and got directions, but he forgot to mention that most of Rome's streets were closed off for a reunificatoin celebration parade, so it was almost impossible to get to the Colosseum (which was also closed).

Location. The hotel is near to Coliseu and Fontana de Trevi. The room is very clean. We woke-up on our second day in Rome and there is no water in the Hotel!!! When we returned (late nigh) and on the next morning there was only cold water. The staff said that it is a recurring problem at the building..... So if you go to this hotel be aware that it can happen again. Additionally, the breakfast is very poor.

The hotel is walking distance from the Termini, on the 3rd floor of a block of flats italian style. There's a restaurant, gelateria and mini market on the same road. It is clean and comfortable There were no coffee making facilities in the room nor was there a small fridge. These would have been useful as the hotel does not have a bar.

We looked for a good price near the train station (Termini) with good reviews. While this hotel was in a great location, however it was equally far from a few metro stations (e.g. Republica, Cavour etc.) We walked from here to Trevi, Colosseum. Except for one guy, staff wasn't very friendly. This guy however showed us on the map what to visit. There are supermarkets nearby. Est Est Est nearby is a great place. Internet connection was unreliable. Breakfast was boring, no meat (ham, bacon, sausage etc.) served. Croissant was dry and too sweet. Coffee wasn't great. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of an old house where the lift is prone to "break". You need to close all three doors so that it will work. If anyone forgets to do so, you can stand forever waiting for the lift. TV only had Italian channels.

Centrally located but was hard to find initially. Clean room. Breakfast consists of cold croissant and cold cake. There was no ham/cheese/fresh fruits. In short, it was not worth to include breakfast during the hotel stay. Hotel is located at level 3 of a private apartment and its lift was old and rusty. You have an alternative to walk 3 flights of stairs up to your room though, so this is not a big issue for young folks. But more mature travelers may want to take this into consideration. Hot water system was spoilt on one night. Hence all guests have to shower in freezing water. My wife and I stayed in hotel Galatea in December (winter). It was freezing and hence this was a terrible letdown.

The location is great. You can walk to all the sights and there are lots of restaurants and pubs nearby.Don't let the entrance put you off.We were pleasantly surprised after 3 flights of stairs at the appearance of the hotel. It was very clean and quiet.I Like a thin pillow so slept well- others might have a problem with the pillow. We aren't big breakfast eaters so had no problem with the food but the espresso was undrinkable. All over a very pleasant stay(Rome is wonderful)and if we come back we would stay at the Galatea again

Very good location in the city. Possibility to visit the most important places of Rome by foot. Spacious and clean rooms and good breakfast. My room was a little dark (not enough light during the day) and we were close to the reception of the hotel and we heard sometimes the noise from there.

The location is good but it is not very close to a metro station so bus is the option when it is not walking distance. The room was big, quite comfortable and the building was indeed traditional. The breakfast is ridiculous. For a double room of 130 Euros someone would expect much more choices and better quality. There is almost nothing salty, only soft cheese and dried bread (not even normal bread!). Not fresh croissants, tiny pieces of a cake, jam, butter, some fruits and this is it. Nothing else! Even the main coffee machine is so bad, unacceptable for Italy. As least for coffee the situation is saved thanks to a smaller do-it-yourself espresso machine.

The staff was extremious friendly and willing to help! Rooms were very clean. 1. From the street you cannot recognize the hotel, it was not clear were to go to. 2. Room 305 has the smoke area right under the window, smoke comes into the room. 3. It was noisy; at 7.00am there was a lot of noice in the courtyard and at 7.15am the gallery was cleaned, the brush touched the fence over and over, also a lot of noice. 4. tv showed only Italian broadcasters. 5. Breakfast was poor; only some sweet buns/croissants and canned fruit, muesli, serial.
