Hotel Gambara  

It close to Gambara metro station, it's easy to find after exit the metro station. there is a SMA supermarket near the metro exit. Hotel room is clean. The hotel owner (the one who can speak English) is nice. There is a good restaurant at the ground floor. The price of food is good.

One of the receptionist doesn't understand English, and he was the only one in the hotel to receipt us. it was very difficult to us to communicate. We felt frustrated in the first day.

It was average

I liked it because it was not a busy area so pretty relax.

The room wasn't like the photo so no nice glass shower cubicle in the corner but I can live with that. I think someone else mentioned that the drain in the wet room held water and smelt. Basically a small room with a shower curtain to protect the toilet and your bathroom stuff whilst you shower. Again I can live with that. The bed wasn't a double but two single matresses so not the best to sleep on but I can live with that. Window opened into a central courtyard with building work going on. The weather was bad anyway so I can live with that. What I couldn't live with was absolutely no sound proofing and a room next to reception so little sleep. The first night the noise from the TV in reception was very loud but was tired from a long day and travel so stuck it out and went to sleep. The second night I had to get out of bed and ask the night guy to turn the TV down at midnight. The third night the TV was just as loud until after midnight but the killer is every time someone comes back they have to buzz to get in. Woken up at 3.20 am then again at 6.50 am and then workman started in the inner courtyard at 8.30 am. I'll put up with most things but if you pay for a hotel you are paying for somewhere to sleep. Not good if you don't get a lot.

stayed in this hotel for 2 days for shopping. Excellent location. Excellent pizzeria nearby, with a stove and flour, as necessary))))

The beds were very comfortable. This place is also very close to the Gambara Metro stop, which makes it pretty easy to get around Milan. We got back into the neighborhood pretty late after a night of partying (the Metro stops running at 00:20), and it was safe as can be in that area. The hotel is one star, as is advertised, but we were pleased to find this did not make it dirty or dangerous. Our room, strangely, had a shower in the corner of it. So if you like showering with other people in the room, this is the place for you! Otherwise, there's also a shower down the hall.

The room's windows did not face the sun and were covered so we accidentally stayed asleep for way too long. If you set an alarm, I'm sure this won't be a problem.

Heating system need to improve

The location was good, really close to the metro. The room was very warm.

The room was not so clean, we found some hairs in the shower of our room. The soundproofing was awful, someone was talking so loud in the corridor during the night. The price is not so good according to what the hotel offers.

The stuff speak spanish, and it is well located in Milan. We went there because it is cheap, and it was what we expected. Also,the shower is insside the room, but not the toilet. I thought this could be a problem, but the toilet was very clean.

There were a lot of noise (some people were talking loud at 2 am)

First of all, the staff are really nice people. I left the phone in the hotel and these guys post it back to me. It's really nice guys. And the staff can give u call when u leave early in the morning. The position of the hotel is nice, about 10mins walk to the nearest subway station. The restaurant downstairs is ok, and the other restaurant near the subway station is good compared with the price and the food.

I prefer drinking hot water, but there is not.

This well located hotel is close to a supermarket, restaurants and a tube station which takes you to Duomo in ten minutes. It is clean, reception is open 24 hours a day and the staff were very helpful. It is a budget hotel so has few frills, but for a break in Milan I can't imagine wanting more than this hotel offered. It was roasting outside, and the excellent fan in the room meant we were never too hot.
