We had the apartment with the roof terrace, which is wonderful especially when there are street musicians playing below! There are two additional terraces off the bedrooms. This really does feel like being in someone's very comfortable, very clean and charachterful home; there are sofas galore, loads of books and some dvds. The kitchen is tiny but fully equipped and there is a washing machine and tumble drier - a great help with a family of 6.Two large double bedrooms, a single bedroom and a double sofa bed with 3 bathrooms and a utility/storage area mean this is great for short and long stays. This is in a shopping area so while there are many restaurants nearby, when shops close at night it is lovely and quiet. Stretch out on the roof terrace and enjoy! A light wasn't working and a maintenance guy we spotted at another apartment fixed it for us while we were out - great service. The Colosseum and Vatican are both about 30 minutes walk away so it's ideally situated for sight seeing. ps Try the ice cream from the cafe about 1 minute away when you turn left out the front door. Home made for decades and delicious.
Nothing was a problem for us here but you need to be aware of the check-in arrangements. Also the stairs won't be suitable for everyone.. I would suggest you find out in advance exactly where you need to go (the building and floor) to get the keys. I bumped into Silvia (who I had been emailing during the booking process) and she appeared to be leaving for the day! I still don't know where the office is but it's in a building across the way from Gambero. Once you have checked in you won't see any staff unless you go looking for them - they are very relaxed here. We were ok with the stairs and lift but I wouldn't recommend this apartment for the very elderly, very young or infirm. There are stairs to the (very small and old fashioned/quaint) lift and a few stairs to the apartment once you get out at the top. There are 5 levels in the apartment. I wouldn't have been happy with a young child (under 8-9) using the stairs and bannister (there was a large gap between the top spindles) to the top floor. Also there is a flight of stairs directly off the sitting room down to the front door.
The location is great. Short walks to Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps. Spacious apartment.
Second bedroom accessible only through first.
it has it's beautiful bedroom, and living-room with an antique radio (!) and a separate kitchen, with everything you want to cook italian pasta! In the very "heart" of the eternal city!
Proximity to all major attractions
perfect location, great staff. one bathroom was in slightly poor condition but otherwise we were very happy.
The location was excellent, within walking distance of some major tourist sites and conveniently located near a taxi stand. We were a multi-generational family of 9 and we rented two apartments. The terrace on the 3 bedroom was ideal for the entire family to hang out in the evenings. We enjoyed our stay very much.
There were quite a few stairs, but we'd been forewarned. The charm of the building made the stairs worth it.
Gambero G, especially, was a fantastic apartment for a group of adults and the balconies were great. The apartments were spacious, homely and comfortable Bathroom facilities for each bedroom Great location Excellent airport transfers arranged by staff
Can't think of anything The stairs might prove a problem for people with mobility problems. The lift broke down on us, so we only used it the once!
We were upgraded to a bigger apartment as apparently the aircon wasn't working properly in the other apartment. There is not one negative to speak of with the service, cleanliness, comfort and location, all were exceptional!
The location was excellent. Great assistance from silvia with transfer bookings.
The awkwardness of living in a confined roofspace had we known we would not have booked this property. No english speaking news tv channel. Shortage of basic reqs e.g dish wash liquid. No balcony or terrace as shown on advertising.
Unique design of our rooms, wi-fi, TV.
smell from bathrooms downstears, hot water runs on and off, elevator is compecated to operate
Loved location and terraces.
Could use a more thorough clean, it is an old building so I know it is challenging but a little more scrubbing needed in bathrooms, floors very dirty.
Well located for tourist purposes
Very warm flat with a very noisy air conditioning. The flat is full of mosquitos.
The room itself was lovely, and there were plenty of blankets provided if we got cold. I'm sure the rooms with the roof terrace would be spectacular. Our balcony was nice, but faced the interior courtyard, but at least it was quiet and let plenty of light into the room.
The walls were a bit thin and we could hear the family in the other room, especially their children and their television, as well as the children in the room above us running around in the morning and dragging chairs around a table for meal time. For the staff, the rating is lower because our initial liason had an injury and put us in touch with the woman who would be taking over and who would meet us when we arrived. I called her from the train station, the taxi, and from the door, and we waited for twenty five minutes at the door until finally the replacement called and said another staff member would be coming to let us in. The provisions--toilet paper, toiletries, were a little low and we didn't have enough to last us through our stay. The only technical problem is that when checking out, we were instructed to leave our keys on the table; however, the lift required one of the keys in order to operate it, so we had to take our luggage down the 3 flights of narrow stairs, which was manageble but inconvenient.
The location was amazing you are literally 5 minutes from the trevi fountain and walking (all be it a long one) from the collisium I would recommend a great restaurant around the corner called life at via della vite 28 tel 390669380948 they were just next to the apartment and had good food and did great take away pizza. The apartment was roomy and very secure you had to open three doors to get in, it was nicely furnished and there was lots of drawer / cupboard space for clothes, if coming from the airport i would recommend ordering a taxi through silvia who runs the apartment much easier and it meant she was there when we arrived to let us in, it was only 5 euros more than a regular taxi and they knew exactly where to go
The kitchen was adequate but no toaster but a waffle maker bottle opener didnt work well and not that well equipped - but hey your in rome the food outside is fantastic there is a supermarket close by if you need provisions. Also if you are looking at the photos be aware that you probably wont get the one with the balcony this is the three bed apartment on the top floor and is let out most of the year, also note there is no on site reception you have to phone silvia during office hours or the guy who lives across the street after office hours and if they need to come to the apartment to help you and its not there fault they will charge you €25 it may even be €50 i cant remember, also the bath doesnt have taps you fill it with the shower hose there is no dvd player.the lift to the apartment is a bit rickety, dont let my negative comments put you off though we had a fantastic time in the heart of everything in a comfortable secure and spacious apartment sure it could have been better but it was pretty good just as it was
Perfect location, right in the city center, friendly staff, on time and available when needed, smooth check-in and check-out, everything organized perfectly. A great place to stay!!
Ceilings are very thin and not noise-proof (old building), so we could hear every step of our neighbours upstairs... A bit bothering in the morning, when we wanted to sleep late..
Excellent logation, very nice appartment. We have great time with our 2 year oln baby. Appartement equiped with stroller.
Attic appartment, not very comfortable for tall people. To reach elevator you have to rise up 20 stairs. Elevator is tiny - with bigger strollwer can be problem.
The location is great. You can walk to basically all the main tourist attractions. The apartment is reasonably basic but has everything you need and quite large for 2 people even with the sloping roof.
As the apartment is in the middle of a touristy area, it can be a bit loud in the evening. The street doesn't have many cars but there is always something going on in the morning such as delivery vans or street sweep etc. This is however to be expected when you stay in the middle of a big city!
Very good location. Plenty guide info in the rooms. Can accommodate up to 4 people easily. Full set of kitchenware. It was nice to find some water, coffee and sugar available.
Excellent location very nice, comfortable and clean apartment equipped with everything needed, we liked the furniture it is very special.
The elevator is not responding properly, it works once and needs to rest which makes us go by stairs. And it is very difficult with the shopping and with our luggage when checking out.
The location, size and style of the apartment. The outside space would have been a bonus if we were staying in the summer.
Could not speak to staff as the office number and emergency numbers were ringing out unobtainable. Problems with the boiler didn't have hot water in the kitchen or the bathroom on the main floor for three days.
Awesome place. I will come back there for sure.
Superb location, friemdly staff and very clean. Great Apt for family with one or two young children. Real good value for money. Ms Silivia, the Manager, is very kind and helpful.
Great location, value for money, quiet. Now I know the set up, would return.
24 he reception, not quite. You ring on arrival and someone meets you with the keys. Apartment block needs better identity, just a brown wood door between shops. Small lift holds 3 and still need to go up some stairs to get to it. 1 bedroomed apt, open plan, space rather than a bedroom. You walk through to get to the bathroom.
Coffee in the cupboard Two bathrooms
Bit pricey - but it is Rome! No air con control
The elevator was not 100% reliable
