Hotel Garibaldi  

We enjoyed our short stay in this comfortable hotel very much. Hotel Garibaldi is very modern, with pale wood walls and floor-tiles, and simple stylish furnishings in both public areas and guest rooms. These give the building a light and airy feel, and our room was spacious and well-designed, with a desk and two chairs, and a safety-deposit box in the wardrobe. The bathroom was a good size and well-equipped (excellent shower), and all spotlessly clean. Reception and breakfast-bar are both in the basement (an outside ramp gives access to the hotel). The buffet breakfast was excellent: as well as the usual cereals, brioches and cold meats there was a hot tray with bacon and eggs, and it's good to report that there was properly boiling water to make a proper cup of tea! Staff at reception and in the breakfast room were unobtrusively friendly and helpful.

One tiny criticism: the inviting-looking bar near reception was “unfortunately” (in the receptionist's word,s) not open during our stay, so no chance of an early evening aperitif or late-night drink.

the excellent location and room

Internet was not reliable at night and shower drain was not working well.

It is a typical modern hotel. The room was clean and quite spacious. Breakfast was good. The location less than 5 minutes walk from the Airport Bus stop, at Politeama, was one of the main reasons why we chose this hotel, and this proved very convenient. (Buses run every 30 mins, and take approx 35 minutes to get to the airport. A much better option than the train, which takes an hour, or a taxi which would be expensive)

A very understated entrance / reception area for a large hotel, down some steps. Ok if one is walking, but I wouldn`t like to locate it if driving a car.

We liked the service of the staff--they advised us about good restaurants and gotbus information about buses to other cities. We arrived early in the Morning and they offered us breakfast--and their breakfasts were exceptional. The room was lovely though very modern. Very good value and location!

There was no Internet in the room and the computers would have benefitted from service.

The location was good, the ratio price/quality was excelent, there was a parking of the hotel.

The Garibaldi was in a perfect location for the hop on/off buses and local buses. The staff were able to give us all the information we needed to visit Palermo cultural venues. Our room was enormous, clean, chic and with everything we needed. A hydro massage bath as well as a separate shower. For ladies...lots of space in the bathroom to put your toiletries and cosmetics ..so many hotel bathrooms lack that. We had two TVs with sky, sofa and balcony. Beds superb. Breakfast with extensive pastries. What more can I say!

Everything was perfect.

Location is perfect for visiting Palermo.

As for all hotels in city center, traffic is noicy. This is especially true in lively Italian cities - also for Palermo.

Nice large and modern room and excellent ensuite bathroom.

We rerserved a non-smoking room but were given a smoking room with strong stale cigarette smoke smell, ashtrays and matches. We were told it was not possible to change this room as they were full and we were the last people to check in. The internet (both wired and wireless) did not work on the 4th Floor, even though there was a signal (no IP address).

Location And the staff was very helpful. Big rooms with a minimalistic interior/design. Parking on site - parking in the streets is close to impossible.

Breakfast - the choice was limited, except for the cakes. But it is the same all over - breakfast is always a challenge south of the Alps. Taking this into consideration it was ok. The wifi (charged) is working well in the lobby, we had no working connection in the room

The hotel was really easy to find, as it's on a fairly main road (though we weren't troubled by traffic noise). We had previously stayed in another Palermo hotel, which by comparison, was tricky to find, as it was located in the old town (little alley ways). The rooms were nice and tidy (but a bit bland). Comfy beds. We had to change rooms during our stay as our key broke, and our second room was much much smaller than the first room, so there is clearly a range of rooms, however, even the smaller room was ok.

The hotel may have been a little short staffed. They were perfectly helpful, but just a little brisk. I was surprised that they didn't have a uk plug adapter...I Thought this would be fairly essential at a 4 star hotel. Also, the wifi signal didn't seem very strong for my ipad, so I had to move around the hotel to get a stable connection.

Excellent large rooms with tea making facilities. On site parking, which is essential if you are driving in a city like Palermo. Excellent large selection at breakfast. Very good value.

Noise. Sound proofing not good at all, both internally and externally. Had a high floor but constant traffic and other noise could be heard all night.
