Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast and sensational pool.
Staff, comfy bed, good price, restaurant and pool facilities
Noise from restaurant came into my room
and helpful. Everyone does its best to please the guests. Breakfast is very good and I highly recommend the restaurant in the evening for having real italian dinner with very good wine for affordable prices.
The hotel staff is excellent. The food served for the diner was beautiful. Position is great, you can walk or take a bus to the Ischia Port.
Showers are a bit small.
really nice hotel, good price
It was a second time, when we stayed in the hotel. Very relaxing atmosphere and very friendly personnel. The hotel offers good variety of meals at breakfast and dinner, which is very tasteful and nourishing. Having its own thermal pool, the hotel offers discounts for a nearby thermal parks.
It is hard to wash oneself with the bathroom shower.
We loved all of it, but especially the friendly people and great location. The food, the pool, the view - it was all wonderful and I would recommend it highly.
Inside the hotel is better than just 3 stars. Advantages: - very clean - close to bus stop - nice breakfast - good pool - thermal park is very close and they give a discount - friendly staff - between 2 communes - fruit shop just in front of the hotel - very reasonable price Generally, good CITY hotel
3 things for me: - zero signal of wi-fi in the room, no internet connection - quite noisy as close to the main road - and disaster pillows for my neck No possibility to be "close to nature"
Friendly atmosphere. Perfect balance quality-money!
Shower in the room.
Most of personnel quite friendly. Breakfast is rather modest but overall fine. 1 average size thermal pool and small thermal bath. The rooms can be noisy at times but we had a great view of the sea from the balcony. Overall the hotel felt like we were at a real Italian villa/at someone's home which was a different and special experience.
The hotel isn't near beach, so if you prefer a beach vacation, will have to opt for smth. else. This wasn't the problem for us as I like to walk and would walk quite a lot and enjoy the scenery.
The staff were very helpful and could explain things, sell bus tickets, arrange scooter or car hire and so on. My room was very clean and quite adequate. There is a very nice and very warm pool. The air conditioning worked well and the room was very quiet.
They have a computer for guests' use and I wish I had used it to translate the menus, because they could not explain very clearly in English. I ordered one or two thing I did not like much. Obviously this is not a problem for most of the guests, who are Italian, or those more familiar with Italy. The hotel is built into a hillside and there were 40 steps from reception to my room.
location is closed to the bus stop, easy to go to other places in the island, quiet place, swimming pool, good ratio quality-price
We loved the hotel staff at Hotel Gemma! The entire family was very helpful, kind and friendly. We were given useful information about things to do/places to go. On our first night we asked for a recommendation for dinner and we had an awesome meal at Ischia Port. The air conditioning worked well and the room was clean and maintained well daily. The breakfast selection was tasty and fresh. The beds were comfortable - we slept like babies all three nights we stayed at Hotel Gemma. The thermal pool was gorgeous and we enjoyed it every morning and evening. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Ischia - we had an amazing time there!
The only thing we didn't like was the size of the shower - it was a little small.
Nice, laid-back atmosphere in a family run hotel; conclusive to relaxation. If you are after a glitzy and clinical hotel this one might not be for you. However, for a friendly, chilled out hotel with a lot of a soul I would recommend Hotel Gemma. Ischia is a nice place for a week's relaxation and ambling about in the sun.
Our corridor could be a bit noisy. The buses to the were perfect the first half of the week and a shambles the second half. The bus service around the island is very useful indeed but be prepared to wait and for a cosy up-close-and-personal bus ride experience, during the month of July at least!
The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant is a great deal with huge dinners, the pool area is great (and in hindsight is a fine alternative to the expensive pool resorts on the island), quiet location, air conditioning! Also, kid friendly.
The double bed was two singles next to each other, which I understand is common, but the seam is uncomfortable. Also the location is between two towns, so there is always effort to see/do something. Can't just walk out the door and be there. Bus system does stop nearby, but is often overcrowded.
