Our lakeside room was quiet & the hotel well situated for Orta town which is less busy than places on larger lakes. The staff at the hotel were very friendly & helpful. We had a good breakfast,& enjoyable evening meal. Some may think the bedrooms small;it depends what you want.We thought ours was a perfectly acceptable size considering one is usually out all day.It was very comfortable & we enjoyed an afternoon in it ,just sitting on the balcony reading whilst watching a storm! The hotel is also conveniently placed for other restaurants in Orta.Stresa & Lake Maggiore is only 40 minutes away over the hills if you want somewhere busier. We enjoyed going on the boats on Lake Orta to the island & also to Omega for the market. We would love to return to explore more of the countryside.Thankyou for a relaxing visit. There was nothing we did not like about the hotel. For a 3* hotel, we thought it was excellent.

Stayed for 2 nights & it was fantastic. Room was great with a fabulous view over the lake. The restaurant & the food are wonderful. One of the nicest places you'll ever eat dinner. While quite expensive it was worth it. Swimming in the lake, excellent lunch & dinner, very relaxed place. Highly recommended.

The dining and breakfast terraces hover a few metres above water level with a magnificent panorama view over Lake Orta. Dining and breakfast buffet are good. Fast WLAN Internet access. Free parking. Some guest reviews complain about the noise from the nearby road, but with the windows closed, this was not a problem even though I am very noise sensitive.

Delightful views from the Lake View rooms. Don't book the ordinary rooms, you will miss the whole point of the hotel's lake edge position, and get the view of, and noise from, the main road at the rear. There is a very pleasant but steep walk up the hill at the back of the hotel (Monte Crabbia, free map from the hotel), and breathtaking views from the top. Good food and friendly staff. Highly recommended and very good value.

Location superb. Room overlooking lake is an essential (we were up- graded to a room with lake view). Food is nouvelle cuisine, good, but we would have preferred more traditional Italian. Reception staff very helpful. Dining room. Expensive, modern style cooking - meat very rare. Slightly pushy on the drinks front.

Wonderful situation on the lake, charming staff and very nice rooms. probably my favourite hotel in the world! Clumsy system for wifi - always need a password instead of straightforward access throughout hotel. Also weak signal.

The room was well equipped, large and comfortable, with an excellent view over the lake and ther air conditininng worked well. The restaurant was first class. The staff were very helpful Coooking smells made our balcony unusable in the evenings. The public rooms were tatty and the bar not well run. Without a car it would be difficult to go anywhere.

Having breakfast with a great lake view! Little old fashioned / dated in terms of decor but I guess you get what you pay for – it served its purpose for us as a cheap out of town alternative. Definitely need a car as this hotel is approx 5 minutes drive from Orta main town. Breakfast buffet was cleared away a little early - advertised as being until 10am but staff started removing food / coffee at 9.45am and guests that came into breakfast restaurant at 9.50am were told that the coffee had finished and staff would not make anymore.

The Giardinetto has a good lakeside setting and guest can access and swim in the lake from the hotels pool area. The restaurant is good and also popular with locals. We ate really well there and the standard of cuisine was high. The internal decor is tired and dated....

The location was stunning especially the dining experience overlooking the lake. Lake Orta is very unspoilt and peaceful. Walking in the surrounding countryside was very unpopulated but quite an adventure as the tracks are not well marked so take a good map with you. Restaurant food was good. Lots to see and do in the area. Beautiful drives and plenty of cultural activities. The hotel was very popular and busy so there was a good buzz however with only one public lounge area to relax in this was often too noisy. There were leaflets available on activities in the area and staff were helpful when asked however the maps provided were pretty useless if you wanted to go treking. I was surprised that in such a beautiful area there weren't more suggestions and information about walks. A car was essential as the hotel is on a busy road. Many of the rooms look out on to the road and car park. Rooms were in need of a more modern makeover. Bathroom spacious but poorly lit and the shower had seen better days.

The staff and location were excellent. The food good. The only thing we did not like was the bath/shower. My husband had to use two chairs to clamber into the bath - which had very steep sides to use the shower which was a huge performance as he has had two hip replacements. I found it very difficult myself to clamber into the bath. We would not stay at the Giardinetto again if they did not have an easier shower arrangement.

Magnificent setting on the lake. Excellent food. If the weather is poor you may regret booking a roadside room with no balcony. Food was excellent but expensive.

Hotel is very far out from all the bars restaurants and shops these are all on the other side off the lake so you are unable to walk there and taxis are expensive a round trip would start at 20 pounds. Taxis also stop at 11pm at night so if your going out u need to be back by then as you will have no other way off getting back. There isn't anything near the hotel apart from one tiny shop.
