The San Carlo is set just outside Arona and enjoys beautiful views of Lake Maggiore. Rooms here are large, and most offer views of the lake or d'Angera Castle.

Close to buses, trains, ferries. Comfortable clean and friendly. Nice little friendly dog. Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful.
Location (near rail station and ferry port - choice of breakfast or not - large rooms clean near all Restaurants & Bars
my air con broke down and leaked overnight (happenned to someone else at reception also) When air con worked it was excellent
Location, price, view from the room, friendly staff, better thatn average wifi (for a European hotel), breakfast, hotel restaurant.
Can get a little noisy in the room but the atmosphere of Arona and Lago Maggiore totally make up for any shortfalls.
Room was clean, towels changed daily. Good location. Gentleman from room service very polite. Gentleman In breakfast room very friendly.
Had to constantly request for tv to be checked. Sky tv apparently was outside contractor and hotel could not do much. No English channels made evenings boring. Reception staff not helpful. The lady was constantly on the phone. Took several requests before iron was made available. Unable to use wifi for most part of stay as Reception staff did not clearly explain user name and password provided. Should have received some compensation for inconveniences during stay.
Very dark and poor sound proofing.
staff friendliness, state of building and room, comfortable bed, location, windows (essentially soundproof), decent WiFi
The shower was small and the water pressure somewhat low.
The location is absolutely fabulous. We had a room with balcony with a view at the lake. That is so beautiful. Perfect.
The shower was a bit disappointing. Almost no water pressure.
Facilities & friendliness fine
Very old fashioned room that needed some work to bring it up to date. No hot breakfast. Dog in breakfast room, would not be allowed in most parts of the world.
This hotel is convenient, close to train station, bus service from Malpensa Airport. Pretty shops and plenty of restaurants. More importantly, with a lake view room, it is a delight to wake in the morning to the sunshine on the water and at nights before going to bed seeing the flickering lights across the lake.
Location was wonderful!
Staff (reception) was rough, nonprofessional, unfriendly, could not present clear information about city and surroundings
The hotel is perfectly located for everything you need in Arona and for the station and the pier. The staff are lovely and the wifi works perfectly. Comfy bed. Rooms with a balcony are great.
The rooms are functional but extremely dated in their decor. For some reason, even though I was a solo traveller, the two single beds had been pushed together to make a double, which meant I had to get out of bed to switch off the reading light. Paper thin walls: you hear everything!
the location to the centre of this beautiful city
In Australia , we are not use to seeing dogs inside premises such as shops and lobbies and breakfast area
The locations is nice - the centre is really close, as well the shops, restaurants and dock with the boats. Also wifi connection worked very well.
If you are arriving by car, there is a huge problem to park, as the hotel is located in the zone, where you have to pay for the parking. The closest free parking lot is about 15 minutes walking. Our room was right above the entrance for supplies and garbage, so in the morning it was noisy.
Location, simply close to everywhere, by the lake and the main shopping street (il Corso) The view
not really sound proof my room smelled like sigarette smoke (I suppose that one client smoked in the toilette) wi-fi requires registration by providing social network datas (Facebook, Linkedin, etc.)
Nice view of the lake from our room.
Internet connection was poor...
Perfect location, friendly staff (and they speak decent English!), good bed.
Good staff, very helpful.
Facilities very old, and need updating, rooms dark.
Fiendly staff Very good location close to the lake and the old town.
The coffee (breakfast) was far from the famous italian quality.
The staff was very helpful when it was raining, my departure was delayed and I ended up spending hours in the hotel lobby.
In order to get an Internet access I had to "like" this hotel in Facebook. I prefer to like things voluntarily...
Very pretty location; lots of shops and restaurants. Easy access to train station, leisure boat tours around the lake.
Location, cleanness, very friendly staff. Good hotel for a city trip.
Staff was friendly.
Difficult to find the parking space.
The location is good near the lake and close to Arona center
We ordered a room with Air conditioning. When we arrived I tried to turn it on but it didn’t work. I called the front desk asking for help. I was informed that the Air Conditioners in the hotel were turned off by the hotel staff. I was updated that it is because the weather was nice out so I do not need it and I should open a window if I was warm. The window of my 1st floor room was facing an alley and just above the hotel restaurant. During the day there were people working just outside our room (on the first floor) so we couldn't open the window and during the night the noise from the restaurant kept us up until early in the morning. No ac nor window plus the outdated carpets in the room made the room feel suffocating. When I called the front desk asking for another room I was told that the hotel was fully booked and there were no other rooms even though it didn’t feel like it. In the morning I complained about the lack of air conditioning and the inability to open the window because of the restaurant noise(at night) and workers (by day) and asked to be compensated. The staff was very rude blaming me of costing them money by using up water, electricity, having to clean up the room after me and even for paying by Visa. I received a 10 Euro discount and vowed never to return. Travelers beware!
The location was excellent. The female staff on reception were helpful .The staff member in the breakfast room was pleasant and helpul
On arrival at the hotel 3 male staff stood in reception while I brought our suitcases in ( my husband is not in good health so is unable to handle heavy suitcases ) and none offered to help . Their attitude was very unfriendly and remained that way during our three nights there . No advice was offered ; I had to ask for a map , any enquiries I made about local events or requests or information was responded to by the briefest and sometimes curt answers . The rooms were extremely tatty with stained carpet , old bedspread, holes and patches in the bathroom door . Several times when I needed to use the hotel computer in the lobby the internet connection was down .
