Set in a lush garden above the historical town of Tropea, the Marchese D'Altavilla offers elegant rooms privacy and tranquility.
From every angle of the multi-terraced garden you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea, the old town, and on some days the island of Stromboli (Aeolian Islands) towering over the sea.
Even though the garden and its rooms are completely isolated, Tropea's main square is within walking distance, while the beach is less than a kilometre away.

All the very airy double, triple and quadruple rooms have independent access from the garden and are equipped with a minibar, TV, safe, fan and hairdryer.
Since the hotel is surrounded by tall trees, there is no need for air conditioning.
Area information
Tropea is a city with plenty of history. The city overlooks Portus Ercolis, mentioned in the writings of Strabone and Plinius. At a short distance you can find the ancient Roman settlement of Capo Vaticano, described in the writings of Cicero. Perched on a circular cliff above a beach of fine, white sand, Tropea boasts a well-kept historical centre.
Numerous works of art are on display in the museums and galleries of the old town. The local tourist office organises free guided tours for those interested in Tropea's many architectural and artistic works.
Travel information
Tropea is a very safe and family friendly destination. Tourists have not been coming here for many years, so not everybody speaks foreign languages. Some knowledge of Italian is therefore recommended.
Currency is euro, ATM's are widely available, and GSM coverage is good. To thew surprise of many northerners, the restaurants open quite late for dinner, ca 20.00.
