The hotel is in a beautiful spot, away from the hustle of Ischia port but near enough to find whatever you need. The view of the castle and bay is spectacular and the small private beach is a great spot for a swim. We ordered the pizza and a beer from the intercom on the beach and it was delivered all the way down the many steps with a tablecloth. A very nice touch! The staff were really helpful, sorted us out a boat to rent, bus times and taxis. We didn't eat here other than breakfast, which was ok. Bread, cheese and boiled eggs with good coffee. Be prepared for the hike up to the rooms but the view is worth it! The rooms are basic but the aircon and fridge worked and the view from the balcony was marvellous. Despite the hill, the walk from the end of the main drag up to the hotel is do-able in 18 minutes. Great hotel for those that like something different away from the crowds. Thermal pools were a nice novelty for us. The swimming pool appears to be history.

I really enjoyed my second visit to this lovely, informal, family run hotel. It was all just as I remembered it from my first stay. My room had a balcony that overlooked the castle and it was very comfy, spotlessly clean and looked newly decorated with new looking bathroom. I stayed on half board basis and the breakfast was always good with lovely sweet tomatoes, eggs, cheese, ham, breads, cakes, juices etc and lunch/dinners were simple, tasty and hearty fare with a lovely vegetable buffet selection and delicious plums and other fruit for pudding if you didn't fancy anything more calorific. The garden is an oasis of peace with lovely plants, fruit trees and warm volcanic spa pools - one looking out on the bay, castle, Capri and Vesuvius. The lovely private beach is accessed by some winding steps down a little cliff side. The bus stop outside the hotel gets you into the Ponte or Porto areas. Ponte is about a 15 min hilly walk and Porto is a pleasant 3km walk (I enjoy walking!). The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. I will return to this hotel for a third visit.

    I liked everything.

Rooms have an amazing view over the sea and the wing we stayed in was recently renovated. The staff are friendly but it's useful if you speak some Italian so you can make sure you have all the information you need for your stay.

The hotel is close to the Aragonese Castle but quite far from the port (15/20 minutes by bus, lines 12 and 13 run from the port to the hotel every hour). You have to plan your day very carefully or resort to a taxi in the evening.

    The view. The breakfast.

Spa was not really a spa. It wasn't open (indoor pool/hot tub/sauna) even though we specifically asked for those before check-in. Massage was ridiculously short and expensive (40 minutes for 50 euro) and our massages didn't even last the while 40 min. Frustrating to say the least. The thermal outdoor pools were disappointing - not as warm as described. They also gave us towels and swimcaps for the outdoor thermals and then charged us for renting them! We had our own towels so it wasn't necessary. I speak some Italian but could not understand all of their explanations (or lack of). The shower in the room was tiny. And it wouldn't drain.
