The 4-person appartment is located on a splendid location in the nice village of Manarola, with a balcony at both sides, one with morning-sun and one with afternoon-sun and a nice view over Manarola and the Mediterranean.

First we waited 45 minutes for the owner, we tried to phone several times but his phone had no service. Then we were shown to a tiny suite with two single beds pushed together after we had booked a two bedroom apartment to meet our family needs (and he attempted to charge us the price of the two bed apartment at first!). The tiny shower had only enough hot water for one person to have a 2 minute shower before we had to wait about an hour for it to warm up again. Just like the other reviews, no internet even though the website still claims that free WiFi is available! Overall, not impressed and do not recommened if you are a couple or a family.

Giovanni met us in front of the church as promised...it is quite a hike uphill hauling bags but so worth it once you are up there...the view to the ocean from the top of the hill is magnificent...no view from our room but the room itself was super clean, bright and colorful, loved it!! It is just a 2 or 3 minute walk down the hill to be right in the middle of this tiny little town......can't wait to go back.... The only negative is that there is no place to store luggage for the final day (or first day if you arrive early)....this was solved by taking the train to Vernazza where Giovanni's parents own an inn and they allowed us to leave our luggage there so we could enjoy one more day in Cinque Terre before hopping the train to Milan...

Giovanni was very nice and helpful. The room was very nice, especially for the price. The location was excellent--right in the middle of Manorola. Pretty much liked everything about the room We had to hike down to the town from the parking lot, and back up. Might be tough for anyone disabled or older. There was a shuttle which ran every 40 minutes but we didn't know anything about it when we arrived.

The first night was spent in a very nice room, however for the seaside view that we asked for we did have to change rooms eah of the nights we stayed in Manarola. We paid for a seaside room with wi-fi and air conditioning for 3 nights. To get this, once we arrived we ha to change rooms each night. The first night was a nice room with wifi and a nice view. The second room for the next night was no wifi and no air conditioning, but a nice view. The third night was another room we had to pack up and go to, with a barely seaside view, no wifi and no air conditioning. Of course, this was a cash u front payment and Giovanni did not respond to any email or calls that we made to him after he was seemingly pleasant the first evening. If you do happen to book with this accommodation, do not take the chance of getting a room which is "similar" and make sure you don't have to contact Giovanni as I have read other reviews saying he doesn't respond unless convenient for him a well. As another note, another person in on the same floor as our flat on the third night did not book online and told us he paid an amount that was 1/3 what we paid online... So if you do want to stay here, it would be cheaper, muh cheaper to just show up and not book online!

We stayed at Giovanni Rooms July 10-14, 2012. We LOVED it!! We stayed in 3-star hotels in Italy, but our stay in the 3rd floor 2 bedroom Apartment at Giovanni Rooms made us feel less like outsiders and more like locals. Giovanni and Fanco-Marie (his mom) were gracious, helpful, and made us feel welcomed. They even made reservations at local restaurants ahead of our stay. This experience was the highlight of our 14-day trip. I highly recommend Giovanni Rooms for anyone wanting a more intimate feel than a hotel can offer. We are looking forward to when we can stay again at our home away from home in Manarola. The apartments and the building are well kept, simply furnished, has maid and linen service daily, and the owners are on site in the AM (9-10AM). We were very happy with our 2-bedroom apartment, and everything worked out well. I was a little apprehensive since it was the first time I had made a booking overseas. We waited 5-10 minutes in the meeting area by the church, and I walked down to the apartments where I met our host expecting us. The rooms are not like 3-star hotels, so they may not be for those expecting 3-star service. The staircase to the 3rd floor is reminiscent of NYC walkups, steep and winding. Our 2-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor (Top floor) was the only 2-bedroom apartment. It was very spacious, almost double the room of any of the 3-star hotels. There was a large eat-in Living/ Dining room, 2 roomy bedrooms with armoir, eat-in Kitchen, and a full Bath (small tub, mainly for showers). The best features were the balconies, front and back with stunning views and large windows giving great breezes in the PM and night.

Comfortable, clean and well-equipped two bedroom apartment on the top part of the town of Manarola near church square. Easy access to town by car with parking not too far away. Apartment has two balconies, one with a great view of the sea and town below, other of hills and the church square. Great air flow in apartment. A great base to visit Cinque Terre!

The room we stayed in was a part of the local community. The woman managing the room was gracious and very helpful. She made sure all our needs were met. Please note this is not a hotel but a personal residence. Do not expect to find a hotel accomodation. What you will find is a very clean, personal dwelling, fresh linens, a small coffee pot to brew a fresh cup of coffee, a balcony that faces the sea and the opportunity to live "inside" this ancient community. We loved every minute. Because we were Trecking, we forgot to call and make arrangments to pick up the key. Please be sure to follow the directions given so you do not have to contact the owners and inconvenience them...even though they did not seem to mind at all!

The staff, Giovanni and his parents, were very accommodating, friendly and efficient. The room was clean, modern, and the bed was comfortable. The view of the Mediterranean ocean through the town, from our window was spectacular and everything we'd hoped for. We understand from Giovanni that next year it will have a balcony like the room above, which will make it even more appealing. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency and our hosts did not hesitate to have a doctor come to our room. The one thing that would be a welcomed feature would be a table of some sort on which to eat, write or compute.

The location was perfect. Wonderful view to Manarola and the sea. The apartment was really great, enjoyed the balconies and it was really comfortable for 3 people. A bit expensive. A luggage storage room would have been nice when leaving.

We just returned from Italy and stayed at Giovanni's 2 bedroom apartment in Manorola. Everything was perfect and Giovanni was wonderful to work with. The apartment is clean and very comfortable.....and the view is amazing. A small grocery store is just around the corner as are lots of restaurants and shops. We would love to return someday and spend more time. I would recommend this apartment to everyone. The Cinque Terre is truly an experience not to be missed!

The owner is super organized and professional. The room, while simple, is tastefully decorated and contains all the comforts that make a difference while traveling. Excellent bathroom design and facilities, a variety of snazzy lighting features, television, bar fridge, and very comfortable beds. The location is quiet and scenic on the outskirts of town (if they can be called outskirts in such a tiny town). Very enjoyable stay and excellent value for the price.

A small space but compact with amenities including air conditioning, well done swanky bathroom, a fridge, ipod docking station and a small balcony.giovanni is a very very helpful host and goes out of his way to make his guests comfortable.its a comfortable place to stay if you are a budget traveller. For the price, its too small a room.i stayed in one with a view away from the sea but there are other rooms which have a sea view.its just an apartment with rooms that are let out so dont expect any other amenities like in any other hotel.once inside you are on your own and will have no one else in the place to talk to.
