Very good,
Score from 512 reviews
The 4-star Giulio Cesare is in an elegant 19th-century building in the prestigious Prati area of central Rome, 330 yards from Lepanto Metro Station. Its roof garden overlooks the Vatican. Rooms are decorated in a classic style with precious chandeliers and antique furniture. Each room has an LCD TV with cable channels and a private marble bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and all common areas. Some rooms overlook the garden. The varied breakfast served in the morning includes freshly baked croissants, along with savory options such as sausages and scrambled eggs. The staff is available 24 hours a day and can recommend good local restaurants. Hotel Giulio Cesare is just a 15-minute walk from St Peter’s Basilica and 10 minutes by foot from the famous Piazza Del Popolo. Termini Station is 5 Metro stops away. A private parking lot is available but spaces cannot be reserved in advance. At check-in, please ask if it is available; if not, staff will recommend a good local garage. Nothing much. The room was spacious with light and high ceilings, but the single glazing made the street facing room very noisy at night. The breakfast was average, but acceptable A total disaster with the reservations and room management staff, originally booked for two nights with booking.com, but on a none refundable basis. When I attempted to extend the stay by a further night, expecting to go though booking.com, the hotel itself attempted to charge the room rate directly to the credit card given to booking.com which was refused by my bank. A long story ensured of shocking hotel management and total ignorance of the word hospitality, with the final result that the third night would be charged 30% more than the first two, which I declined. The whole stay was ruined before we arrived, but could not cancel owing to the none refundable, the front office person was nice enough at check in, but we no longer wanted to be there, we had to move hotels as a result, and the hotel itself proved to be a loser anyway as a product, and even its location was not as expected.

The place is a jewel. Beautiful building and public areas, including a wonderful garden area, comfortable and good-sized rooms, helpful and courteous staff, great location, great breakfast and reasonably priced. A superb value. A "10".

I liked how close we were to the major sights. I liked the breakfast buffet thought we missed one day and were not compensated. The room was clean though small. I didn't like that we could not use any air-conditioning and with the windows open, the noise was just too much to allow us to sleep. The restaurant they recommended to us treated us poorly, but I realize that isn't the hotel's fault.

Beautiful upscale hotel with professional and helpful staff. Our 5 year old loved the bunk beds in the family room. It is a 10-20 minute walk to the Vatican area.

Well mostly everything was ok. I expected a cleaner room and a bigger room it was like 2.30m wide and 5m long and since I am 1.97m myself you can imagine the difficulti I had a wanderfull view of the fireescape stairs. But in all its not a bad hotel. Location is good almost close to everything. Should be cleaner. A little noisy from the rooms near.

It was good quality without being pretentious. The breakfast room was light and beautifully clean. Being between the old city and the Vatican it was in a central position near the metro but quiet. Very nice for walks along the river. probably not for those who don't like walking or stairs.

Excellent value - superb hospitality; the included breakfast was excellent and the cafe head waiter was the ideal host - from central casting (think Fellini). 10 minute walk to the Piazza del Popolo and 20 mins to St. Peter's Square. Would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

Splendid boutique hotel where you are made to feel truly like a guest and not just like another visitor. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable and the breakfast is incredibly good. This hotel is for the discerning traveler, not for backpackers looking for a cheap stay. It offers outstanding value for the money.

Great facilities (breakfast, lobby) Old and nice design nof the hotel Meeting with extremely welcoming owners Mr. And Ms. Pandolfo Location of economy rooms in other building, making us feel disconnected from the rest of the facilities. Room in other building is a bit old but comfortable and spacious.

Charming older hotel decorated nicely. Had room overlooking main street but when windows closed could not hear traffic noise. However, due to time of year they turn off all air conditioning. Room could be stuffy and only way to get relief was to leave window open which met traffic noise. If they had at least a fan it would have been great. In evening when less traffic we opened window to get fresh air. Not as much noise. Breakfast selection was great. Food was great and breakfast dining room was very nice. Good service also. Not having ventilation in room due to time of year they turn off air conditioning. Would have been fine if we had a room not overlooking main street and were able to keep window open.

The bar staff were freindly, the back garden was very pretty and great for relaxing. The breakfast menu was good. WIFI: The hotel advised WIFI throughout which was a reason we chose to stay, as this was important to us, but it does not have WIFI in the economy rooms. ROOMS: We booked the economy room thinking the picture although quaint looked cute and authentic, but in reality it was like staying at grandmas house and the mattress was very old spring type. The TV was sitting on the fridge beside the door and not in front of the bed making it awkward to view, although this proved not to be a problem as they only had local channels and no SKY. Bathroom: The bathroom was not elderly freindly as you have to shower in the bath tub and the toilet seat was slipping off.

Location is good. You can walk practically to all main sites and attractions. The area is quiet. Staff is very nice and attentive. This is not an advisable hotel for traveling with 2 kids on holidays. Rooms (and bathrooms) are very small, there is no real family room (as we booked and expected), just a normal room for 1-2 people max, thus staying for family of 4 in such room is tough. Room and bathroom in particular look shabby. There is nothing to do at the hotel, even tv is limited, no cable tv. Hotel is definitely for business or shopping trips, not for holiday, it is not expected that you would spend much time in the hotel. Even room-service is not to be used: 6 euro surcharge for ordering in. There are no restaurants immediately near by, although if you would walk for about 15 min you would find a street with some: check at the front desk, or on the map provided in the hotel.

Good location! Ottaviano Station, the metro stop to Vatican, is right next to Lepanto, which is only a short walk from the hotel. Facilities were a bit older that what we've expected. Linens and bed covers in our room were dusty which made my sneezing on our first night. Rooms were too expensive but the comfort they offered was not that impressive.

The room (520) was luxurious and the location was quiet. The train was quite close which enabled us to get around easily. Probably the only thing which we didn't like was that the hotel seemed quite a long way from any restaurant or dining facility. The Room Service menu was limited and was mainly based on frozen foods.

From the moment we arrived, I knew we made the right choice of hotels. It is truly a beautiful hotel, the architecture is Italian with marble floors, stairs and columns. Gorgeous stained glass windows, antiques, a lovely outdoor patio with shade trees and flowers. Breakfast buffet every morning was plentiful and tasty, and best of all included with room rate. The staff were friendly and helpful. The owner, a delightful man, even made it a point to greet us and encourage to ask for anything we needed. I would definetely stay there again and encourage others to as well!
