“ Above all the Lobby Manager: Dan, he went above and beyond to help us understand the language and also, Emanuel, the Garden Evening waiter, he was so nice, so cute and so kind. We had an incredible experience at this historical Hotel and City, we can't thank you enough! ”

The 4-star Giulio Cesare is in an elegant 19th-century building in the prestigious Prati area of central Rome, 330 yards from Lepanto Metro Station. Its roof garden overlooks the Vatican. Rooms are decorated in a classic style with precious chandeliers and antique furniture. Each room has an LCD TV with cable channels and a private marble bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and all common areas. Some rooms overlook the garden. The varied breakfast served in the morning includes freshly baked croissants, along with savory options such as sausages and scrambled eggs. The staff is available 24 hours a day and can recommend good local restaurants. Hotel Giulio Cesare is just a 15-minute walk from St Peter’s Basilica and 10 minutes by foot from the famous Piazza Del Popolo. Termini Station is 5 Metro stops away. A private parking lot is available but spaces cannot be reserved in advance. At check-in, please ask if it is available; if not, staff will recommend a good local garage. I made the bookings in August 2012 for a stay beginning in May 2013. For $225 per night it was a shocker to have rooms in the basement, with no light -- they called it the "piano seminterrato." We did not go to Rome to be semi-interred! The noise above my head did not allow me to sleep. I asked for a room change and the lady at the desk could not have been more unconcerned! Booking.com should clearly advise people that they're paying for a basement room so they can make an informed choice before booking.

Loved the outside courtyard. After a busy day of sightseeing, it was so enjoyable to relax at night out there with a cocktail. Little further away from "main" parts of Rome.

The staff were very helfull and could communicate extremely well with us in English. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again or recomend to others. The quite back yard court yard was a nice place to finish off the day. . The stairs could a bit of a problem in for older folks or thoose with problems getting arount, if they are booed into the 2nd, rear building.

Perfect location - quiet area close to metro station and to city centre in general; very clean; no noise from other rooms; nice breakfast Minibar offer was charged although there was no price list available and there were only non-alcoholic drinks available (would expect free of charge offer for such room price); air conditioning did not work; towels and bed linen were changed every day, would expect more environmental friendly behaviour in such hotel

Very clean. Friendly staff. Comfortable. Quiet. Pretty good breakfast. Standard double room is pretty big for European hotel. 20 minutes walk from the Vatican. Not really in the center (20 min walk to each of major sights in Rome). Minor issue: The bath tube has only partial curtain/door :) so the floor is pretty wet after shower :)

The breakfast is the best I have had in an Italian hotel! We had a Quad room - and the kids' beds were bunk beds. Not good for kids of all ages - too small for my 13 year olf for e.g. Some reception staff were pretty surly. No restaurant in or around the hotel - so after a long day of walking you cannot relax - have to set out again. They have a bar which is closed on Sundays... The bathroom is designed to be totally wet when used.

Very friendly & helpful staff. The breakfast was lovely. Very easy get to walk to then Vatican city from the hotel. You can smell smoking in the rooms & more strongly outside the rooms. Internet connectivity not very reliable. Most of the time you simply cannot connect to the internet. The walls are a bit thin as you can hear talking from surrounding rooms and also when they flush the toilets etc.

Reasonable walking distance to main tourist sites for athleteicly fit people. Check in and out process was efficient and prompt. Breakfast bar was outstanding. Great menu selection for a healthy and hearty breakfast. Good expresso and service. Rooms were modes and humble but clean. $200/night gets you accomodations behind the main building and into "economy quarters". Expected luxury. Got very small economy room.

Room was spacious, was well decorated, liked the big double bed and the big ensuite. The location is very good and int is near the subway and very close to the river tiber and the city.. The tours from the hotel are good value but unfortunately we did not know that before going to the vatican where we paid more. The staff were very friendly. Pity about the stupid sensor in the bathroom, sorry the sensor is quite clever as it detects a wet floor but why was there no information on this as we wouold have dried the floor up to stop the noise, pity the security guy was not informed about this as he would have done it as he tried his best to stop it and find the cause Noise in ensuite which reception could not fix so we had a bad sleep. I thought we would at least get sympathy or an apology for this inconvenine and poor night sleep and disruption while I tried to fix it. If someone told me it was due to the wet bathroom floor caused by the seal on the shower then I woulkd have dried it up. In hindsight I should have asked for half rate on that night as at a 4 star this is not acceptable. If you have these modern sensors then you must have a note on the wall telling floors need to be perfectly dry or at least that all hotel staff know. The guy that came did his best but but did not know about the sensor and the wet floor so mit kept noising all night as my wife cannot be in the room with the light out which cutting the trip switch stopped both the noise and the light, This was very annoying and the response next morning was very dismissive.. This one incident and how it was handles next day leaves a stain on an otherwise perfect stay. The guy at reception did not even apologise but said it was fixed as now the fllor was perfectly dry. Great, let us know the purpose of the sensor by putting a sticker on the outsie of the little white box under the sink. If you don't do this then prepare to treat customers who experince this with some respect and at least apologise for the inconveneince caused. Please note that we all know that bath howers are notorious for leaking.

It's in a quieter location but a short walk from the shops, attractions and restaurants. Also a metro station around the corner if your feet get tired! The hotel provides a magnificent buffet breakfast and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
