The 4-star Giulio Cesare is located in the elegant Prati area in central Rome, 1000 ft from Lepanto Metro Station. This 19th-century building features a roof garden overlooking the Vatican. Rooms are decorated in a classic style with precious chandeliers and antique furniture. Each room has an LCD TV with cable and pay-per-view channels, plus a private marble bathroom. Some rooms overlook the grounds. The varied breakfast served in the morning includes freshly baked croissants, along with savory options such as sausages and scrambled eggs. The staff is available 24 hours a day and can recommend good local restaurants. Hotel Giulio Cesare is just a 15-minute walk from St Peter’s Basilica and 10 minutes of foot from the famous Piazza Del Popolo. Termini Train Station is 5 Metro stops away. Hotel Rooms: 78

It is a beautiful hotel with wonderful paintings and accessories. The garden and the roof terrace are lovely! The personal is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately you feel a bit treated like a cash machine and not like a guest. Room service costs 6 Euros! Means: If you want to have a coffee in your room, it costs you 8.50 Euros instead of 2,50 Euros!!! A Salad of tomatoes and Mozzarella costs 10 Euros. If you ask for some lettuce leaves the price raises to 13.50Euros!! No free internet (costs 5 Euros for 30 minutes). In many cafés and bars in Rome you have free internet but not in this luxury hotel. We asked for a romantic room before arrival. The room offered to us was 20 m^2 and looked cheap. After our complaint they gave us for the day after another room, bigger, but for smokers. The result of the third attempt was a nice and clean room but in the same size as the first one! Not realy what you would expect for 200-180 Euros per night and the pictures on their site.

Good location. Hotel is situated on quiet street, from only 5 minutes walk from Lepatto late a metro station, from which you can get to mot of Rome’s tourist attractions in very short time. Plus it takes only 10 minutes walk to Piazza de Poppolo and 15 walk to Vatican. When making a booking there is no information that there are two buildings belonging to hotel. When you book economy room for “good price” you will be placed in building outside hotel. The building and rooms have not been renovated in years. Carpets are old and dirty, so are the beds covers. We were not able to use air condition because you could smell mold and mustiness. Because of that my wife got sick, and for the rest of stay we had to sleep in very hot room. We found a lot of hair on bathroom after arrival. Value for money ratio is very law in this hotel (at least in second building).

The staff was very helpful and informative, the room was a bit small being on the top floor but nice and clean, it was cleaned everyday without fail. The outside courtyard in the back of the hotel was pretty, quaint and comfortable, the bartender Manuel in the hotel bar was a great host to our evenings at the end of a busy day of tours and sightseeing. Overall, it was exactly what we expected plus a bit more with their staff. The price was reasonable for their service Possibly the one thing I would mention is that its located on a lonely street, you will walk a few blocks before you see life out in the streets. It is however very close to a couple of main piazzas and the vatican which made our cab rides at night time around 5 euros, very inexpensive in comparison to other cities

Your staff are real nice! Always with a smile, always trying to help. This was great. Also I would like to point out the breakfast buffet. Especially the baked vegtebles and the baked sweet apples. As compared to the advertised room, we recieved a fairly small room (room 205). Yes, we made due, but this was not what was adertised! And I must admit that the nature of the rooms was a consideration when choosing your hotel. Something that could be specific to the room, the mattress was very soft, and the lights in the balcony did not work. Something else- you should re check your agreement with the taxi serivce. Any taxi on the street takes 40 Euros for the trip to the ariport. The price your taxis ask for is 50. Someone is making a profit and I do not think it is the hotel

We have visited Giulio Cesare Hotel for a weekend break in February 2011. The staff was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. As our flight was departing late on Sunday, they kept our luggage at the lobby when we checked out in order to spend the day in Rome. The room was very clean and tidy and had all kinds of facilities that such a hotel should offer. Tip: Don't miss the breakfast !!!

Our children loved the room as it had bunk beds for them. The room was very comfortable for a family of four and the bathroom was very spacious as well. Everything worked great and there was plenty of storage. The hotel bartender was excellent and we had an evening snack there one evening on their lovely patio. The breakfast had a great selection and our children found plenty to eat. We did find the later in the morning you went the colder the hot food was but overall it was a nice bonus. The hotel is three blocks away from the Metro, which was nice but the Metro is under repair until some time in 2012 and was only open till 9:00 at night. There are a couple nice restaurants in the area but they are about 11 blocks down from the hotel so if you can walk easily it will be fine. They also had a really nice wine shop and bread and meat shop about eight blocks down the street the hotel is on to pick up picnic lunches. The carpets in the rooms are looking quite old.

Nice room for family of four with 2 teenagers. Only 4 minute walk to metro and 15 minute walk to Vatican. Breakfast is top notch and adds significant value to the room price. Free wireless internet with great reception is a plus as well. Highly recommend this hotel to other families looking for a nice quad room.

Nothing much. The room was spacious with light and high ceilings, but the single glazing made the street facing room very noisy at night. The breakfast was average, but acceptable A total disaster with the reservations and room management staff, originally booked for two nights with booking.com, but on a none refundable basis. When I attempted to extend the stay by a further night, expecting to go though booking.com, the hotel itself attempted to charge the room rate directly to the credit card given to booking.com which was refused by my bank. A long story ensured of shocking hotel management and total ignorance of the word hospitality, with the final result that the third night would be charged 30% more than the first two, which I declined. The whole stay was ruined before we arrived, but could not cancel owing to the none refundable, the front office person was nice enough at check in, but we no longer wanted to be there, we had to move hotels as a result, and the hotel itself proved to be a loser anyway as a product, and even its location was not as expected.

Excellent value - superb hospitality; the included breakfast was excellent and the cafe head waiter was the ideal host - from central casting (think Fellini). 10 minute walk to the Piazza del Popolo and 20 mins to St. Peter's Square. Would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

I liked the staff mostly, very professional, polite, pleasant. I also liked that it was quiet and location was good. The biggest disappointment was that the hotel was very dated. Although kept clean, it felt I was back in the 80s. Carpets are very old, furniture in the rooms is very dated and tired. For the price of 93 euro for a small single room I could have stayed somewhere more up to date. I am quite a fussy traveller, and I understand that these things dont matter to some people, so I would recommend this hotel on the basis of location and staff.

Charming older hotel decorated nicely. Had room overlooking main street but when windows closed could not hear traffic noise. However, due to time of year they turn off all air conditioning. Room could be stuffy and only way to get relief was to leave window open which met traffic noise. If they had at least a fan it would have been great. In evening when less traffic we opened window to get fresh air. Not as much noise. Breakfast selection was great. Food was great and breakfast dining room was very nice. Good service also. Not having ventilation in room due to time of year they turn off air conditioning. Would have been fine if we had a room not overlooking main street and were able to keep window open.

The bar staff were freindly, the back garden was very pretty and great for relaxing. The breakfast menu was good. WIFI: The hotel advised WIFI throughout which was a reason we chose to stay, as this was important to us, but it does not have WIFI in the economy rooms. ROOMS: We booked the economy room thinking the picture although quaint looked cute and authentic, but in reality it was like staying at grandmas house and the mattress was very old spring type. The TV was sitting on the fridge beside the door and not in front of the bed making it awkward to view, although this proved not to be a problem as they only had local channels and no SKY. Bathroom: The bathroom was not elderly freindly as you have to shower in the bath tub and the toilet seat was slipping off.

Location is good. You can walk practically to all main sites and attractions. The area is quiet. Staff is very nice and attentive. This is not an advisable hotel for traveling with 2 kids on holidays. Rooms (and bathrooms) are very small, there is no real family room (as we booked and expected), just a normal room for 1-2 people max, thus staying for family of 4 in such room is tough. Room and bathroom in particular look shabby. There is nothing to do at the hotel, even tv is limited, no cable tv. Hotel is definitely for business or shopping trips, not for holiday, it is not expected that you would spend much time in the hotel. Even room-service is not to be used: 6 euro surcharge for ordering in. There are no restaurants immediately near by, although if you would walk for about 15 min you would find a street with some: check at the front desk, or on the map provided in the hotel.

“Spacious rooms, well designed, attention to detail, great breakfast. We were there during a children's holiday – Epiphany- and the cook came out of the kitchen to give my young son a box of chocolates, a beautiful gesture. Staff very helpful. My middle child got ill and staff advised us how the hotel has a doctor on call that charges next to nothing or nothing. Arranged transport to and from airport very affordably – even intervened when the driver tried to charge us more than the agreed price. All in all a great place to rest after walking all over the eternal city of Rome. ” Vassilios, Athens |
