Best view of lake como from an excellent restaurant
Great views! Great food! Great people! A place where you can really relax and be on holiday. Loved our week there.
Wiew is wonderful...
Hotel need reneve...
comfort, old structure
Location overlooking Lake Como with uninterrupted views and nice balcony to take it all in. Car parking on site. Family run and friendly.
Facilities need upgrading but considering the price against other hotels in the Lake Como area it was good value.
Superb views. Excellent kitchen. Staff varied from the smilingly charming to the downright grumpy. The steep gardens which reach down to the lake are good for a restful day.
Dreadful access to the car park. Grim entry from the car park through the basement.
The view was absolutely breathtaking! The hotel is a little old and unique in its own way. The staff were very nice, the food was also pretty good.
It is a little bit out of the main city center and thus one needs a vehicle to shuttle around the area. The wi-fi was almost non-existent.
The magnificant views from our room and balcony over the lake. We slept with the French doors open as even at night there were distant lights reflecting off of the water. Breathtaking.
Dated decor. Staff was not customer oriented to put it mildly. Tricky driving from Como as road was very, very narrow, winding, and steep for 6 km. Not for the fainthearted. But then the view at the end of it....
Hotel parking was OK, but parking in Torno and Como was a nightmare
Absolutely incredible view from balcony. Room was decent and clean. Free parking.
Difficult access through narrow road and narrow parking facilities. Staff rather uncourteous but efficient. 10 min drive to central Como.
The food in the restaurant of an evening was gorgeous.
The hotel needs updating, the furniture was old but in good condition. The private beach is only open at certain times of the year!
Gorgeous lake view. Nice food in restaurant. Free wifi.
The address of hotel is confusing, Cannot find on the gps.
View from the room was excellent--unrestricted panorama of Lake Como. It was close to Como. Food in restaurant was good. Good family feel to it.
Room and hotel was dated. The room was small and not very sound proof.
beautiful setting and views, good parking facilities
ambience a little old fashioned
The view of Lake Como from our balcony/room, breakfast provided, dinner in the dining room overlooking the lake, staff were very helpful.
LOVED the view from the hotel balcony. This hotel would NOT have been worth staying at, were it not for the balcony and the view from the balcony. Also LOVED the food in the restaurant - it was absolutely excellent. Many thanks to the wonderful chef! The front desk reception was very friendly - we asked for an additional pillow and one was brought to our room within 5 minutes.
The hotel itself was very shabby and dated. It looked like it had not been updated since the 1970's. The showers in the bathroom, in particular, were very, very small. The food in the restaurant was pricy (delicious, but pricy), and the reception should have been open earlier for early check-outs.
Good location, excellent view, great food. Good value for money.
Parking is too narrow and not very comfortable, but we managed...
The reason to choose this hotel is the amazing view you have from the room and balcony. Also the restaurant has the same view. The hotel is old-style, but very clean and everything works. Restaurant has good food. The hotel has a beach, they just don't really advertise it - ask at the reception.
The hotel is located a 15 minute walk from Torno. (You can take the path near the lake.) The room had a weird smell, I think it was some detergent used. The staff is not as friendly as you would expect from a family run hotel.
Great location and nice view.
Old furniture. Could be noisy.
Very helpful friendly staff. The view from the bedroom balcony was terrific and also the view from the restaurant. The food was good and as I am a vegetarian there were enough dishes to choose from for the whole week. English speaking was a little problematic on occasions, but fortunately someone spoke French at Reception which language I speak thus making it easier to ask for information. There is a pathway from the hotel to Torno which stops one having to walk along the twisting dangerous road. It is entered from the garden.
The main problem is getting to the hotel via public transport. There is a bus stop a little further on from the hotel entrance, but the buses are quite infrequent and end very early - last one 20h15 from Como. This makes eating in Como or elsewhere for that matter virtually impossible unless you pay for a taxi which was 22 euros from Como and on the day we left 32 euros (it was early around 7h15!) The other main problem is getting bus tickets. This is not the fault of the hotel, but the bus company. One buys the tickets either from the bus terminus or from Tabachi. If the latter have run out it means you have to buy them from the Terminus and then run back to the waiting bus so the driver can tear a bit off for himself. Explaining to some drivers was quite difficult! The town of Torno is quite bereft of anywhere in which to eat and has few shops.
Beautiful view from the room. Good restaurant and good breakfast
Rooms are very basic and hotel decor is 80's
There are about 20 rooms in this hotel, and ours had an unbelievable view of lake Como. Breakfast was good (8 Euros). Dinner was reasonable priced and good quality. Room furniture and bed are very basic and old. You would need to take a 15 min ride on bus line C30 from Como, and the bus station is right at the hotel entrance (about 30m).
One problem with this hotel, was a disco about a mile right across the lake on the other side of hotel, with very loud noise until 2:00 am that was very bothersome.
Location was nice view from the room was perfect
Furniture needs to be renovated and upgrated
The staff was very friendly, great location, friendly for guests with cars (parking available). We have stayed only for one night when being on the way but we would like to get to know the region better
The only 2 things that make this hotel worth staying at are the view from the room and the food in the restaurant.
Small, non-A/C room with a balcony separated by glass so not so private. Uncomfortable bed. Overpriced as there must be lots more hotels with same balcony views in that area, some nearer to Como. Quite difficult to reach hotel along a narrow road and also not so easy to park in narrow car park of the hotel.
