Hotel Caravaggio is in Florence’s Piazza Indipendenza, a 10 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station. Its attentive 24-hour staff provide a tour desk and serve drinks in the peaceful garden.
Score from 602 reviews Very good
Hotel Martelli is housed in an elegant, historic building, which once belonged to Florentine nobles. Both the cathedral and Firenze Santa Maria Novella Train Station are 650 ft away.

Great location, free parking (even after check-out), wifi, free breakfast.
Ugly interior. You pay for the convenient location, not for the quality of the hotel.
Close to the railway station
There weren't any nearby cafés or bars to get a late night coffee or snack. The hotel would do well to offer this facility themselves.
very helpful staff for recommending places to go
very very flat pillows - as though it wasn't even there
Internet connection was good
Both AC and Phone didn't work. And no attempt to make them work was made by the Receptionist. Breakfast served is the worst by any hotel ever. Mosquitos come in when window is opened (which is needed as AC didn't work)
The location of the hotel was close to the train station and was comfortable. It was also close to most attractions in the city. The breakfast was great and gave us a good start to the day. The staff were friendly. For a three start hotel we were pleasantly surprised.
It can get a bit noisy being close to the road but when you're travelling it doesn't really matter. It was only the odd siren that seemed to wake us from sleep other than that it was fine.
There was a very odd smell in our room and in our friend's room the floor below. It made the experience extremely unpleasant.
Free parking + outside of the ZTL + walking distance to city center = Everything you need to know about the Hotel Golf. It takes a bit of luck to find a space as they only have 4-5 and the entry gate is difficult to find in the rush of a busy street.
There was a severe thunderstorm in the early morning that knocked out power to our floor and set off the fire alarm. The alarm rang from 4am to 7am. Then, their credit card machine wouldn't work because the line was out from the storm as well. The desk clerk was not helpful at all and made this seem like our fault. The manager, however, came out and was very helpful and resolved the payment situation quickly. Again, the storm was not their fault, but it did affect our stay.
Location Price Carpark
Staff rude and really old dilapidated building
We stayed here in August 2014 and Florence was very busy. Our room and ensuite were clean and tidy with working air conditioning. The room was larger than most and we truly appreciated the reception staff speaking English. Evening shift reception staff were very good. The Hotel was also a convenient walk into the railway station and a long walk into the sights. Breakfast was adequate and the coffee machine also supplied good hot chocolate.
Our room was dated, smelly (Damp?) and noisy. Not only was there noise from other guests but also road noise as the street is a three/four lane main arterial with heavy volumes of traffic. Some staff clearly resented my inability to speak Italian and the same were reluctant to stop their personal conversations to attend to my wife and I at reception. We enquired about the secure parking every day and were only able to use it on the last (fourth) night of our stay so don't rely on getting a park if you are there in peak season.
The staff was very good, the rooms clean and spacious
Breakfast was a bit poor
The location was about 10 minutes stroll from the Duomo, the heart of the old city centre. The room was comfortable and quite large. Staff were quite helpful
The hotel was chosen because it has a car park whereas others nearer to the centre either don't or charge €30/day or more for parking. Official car parks are around the same figure apparently. In fact, the car park is small and although we arrived around 16.00 there were no spaces and we had to park in the street. We stayed 3 nights and never managed to get a space.
The room was big enough, clean. The hotel is not in the center, but close enough. Friendly personel. When we arrived, the door of the bathroom was creeking terribly, but they fixed it after our request.
Selected the hotel because of parking, but when we arrived there were no parking places available and we had to spend an hour to put the car to the paid parking. When we returned, the host sugested to put the car to their parking in the middle, and if it was done from the very beginning we would have agreed, but after an hour of traffic jams and serching for a place and paing for parking we decided not to do. On the next morning they provided us a place, so the pronlem was solved. The hotel walls seem to be made of paper - so noisy it it, we could hear the people talking in the room next door, at 8 a.m. the hotel started vacuum cleening in the nearby room and woke us up.
Simple and quite good to stay. It's on the street .but the break fast was also good. But you need to go earlier. If not there are some food out of stock.
Good modern hotel, close to the station. It was close to a Indian restaurant Haveli who served us with amazing Indian food just loved it.
The staff was a little rude, basically not welcoming. The breakfast was just Okay. Did not provide complimentary mineral water in the room though it was available in the mini bar.
lack of a bar
Staff was friendly. Room was very small but clean.
Could not get parking for car. Breakfast selection is very limited.
free parking, good breakfast, walking distance to city center
Value for money
Room was on the small side
Facilities are old, staff are rude and not accommodating. I was promised parking later in the day we arrived only to be told it was not available in the evening and for the guy to walk away blabbing about how it was not his problem.
Easy walking distance to train and bus station, also for historical town centre.
Initially booked this hotel as it has on site parking, luckily changed plans and used the bus, there was no parking available the 3 days we were there. The room was very dated, uncomfortable beds. The safe didn't work, no batteries in remote control for tv, which was on top of the wardrobe and could only be reached by standing on a chair. Night receptionist unable to help, no batteries any where. Assured me we would be ok without a safe, hotel very secure. Later that evening, front door not locked, reception not manned, all room keys out on the counter!!!
as expected for price in city centre, good short stop with parking, breakfast included. beds comfy a bit of a walk into town
tea and coffee in room would have been nice
parking for guest with cars, excellent staff, location
Clean comfortable hotel Good selection at breakfast Close to train station
We booked for parking but no parking during our two night stay, parked across the road where there is a possibility of a parking ticket. Wifi worked great at night, did not work in the mornings.
Nice room and bathroom. The interior is quiet. Breakfast is good. Relatively close to the Duomo on foot. They let us park the car there 2 hours before checkin and even after checkout for a while.
Small parking lot.
Parking limited but could park there. Only about 5 spaces. Note: parking in Florence is tough.
