The only issue we encountered was not being warned about a beach chair booking system for the weekends. Apparently, if you want a lounger you must book in advance for Sat/Sun. The ridiculous part is that they will hold bookings all day even if you don't show. We had a few hours to spare in the morning and wanted to get some sun and were basically told it wasn't possible without a booking. It took some time to convince the beach boy to let us take some open but booked chairs, and sure enough, the "owners" never showed. We spent 2.5hrs on borrowed time with no trouble and saw many loungers have the same fate. The system needs to be improved and the hotel most definitely needs to notify their well-paying guests of this policy so they can reserve beach time when booking for weekends.
It was our second time at the GHA, and they continue to outdo themselves. This time we were joined by my parents, who are particular, and couldn't say enough nice things about their stay. We received a surprise bottle of local Prosecco and Bocci di Alassio as a welcome treat - a very nice added touch. We spent time at the beach and in the Spa, which is one of the nicest we've been to and one of the highlights of the GHA. Free breakfast was delicious, rooms comfortable and the service team friendly and helpful.
